On the cover

Disruptive technology usually refers to a kind of technology which has a subversive effect on the existing traditional or mainstream technology. It may be an innovative technology based on new concepts and principles, or it may be a major innovative application of the existing technology. Disruptive technology is often destructive and revolutionary, and it will reconstruct the system and order in the application field. In 2017, the Chinese Academy of Engineering organized a Major Project of "Strategic Research on Disruptive Technologies in Engineering Science and Technology". It hopes to carry out strategic research on disruptive technology of engineering science and technology continuously and systematically, explore the overall strategic planning and layout of disruptive technology of engineering science and technology, and promote the overall progress and comprehensive development of disruptive technology of ngineering science and technology in China.
