On the cover

To realize rural revitalization and accelerate the modernization of agriculture and rural areas, the Chinese Academy of Engineering launched major consulting projects of “Research on Agricultural Development Strategy in China by 2050” and “Strategic Research and Development Roadmap of Modern Smart Ecological Agriculture in China by 2050”. The project focused on sustainable development, analyzed the agricultural development trends in China and worldwide by 2050, and proposed an overall strategy for agricultural development in China by 2050 by comprehensively considering the planting and breeding industries, agricultural production modes, industrial systems, agricultural resources, and sustainable development. The project also analyzed the main trends and characteristics regarding the distribution of agricultural productivity, explored the opportunities and challenges for agricultural development in China, and proposed the strategic conception for China’s agricultural development by 2050 from the aspects of development ideas, strategic objectives, strategic priorities, development roadmaps, major projects, and safeguard measures.

To further promote the high-quality development of the Yangtze River Economic Belt and the Yellow River Basin, the Chinese Academy of Engineering organized and launched the major consulting projects “Research on Several Strategic Issues in the Construction of Ecological Civilization in the Yangtze River Economic Belt” and “Strategic Research on Ecological Protection and High-Quality Development of the Yellow River Basin”.
