Trend Analysis and Policy Suggestions on Development of Chinese Husbandry Industry during the Period

Research Group of Strategic Planning of Chinese Husbandry Development for the 13th Five-Year Plan

Strategic Study of CAE 2016, Volume 18, Issue 1,   Pages 17-21 doi: 10.15302/J-SSCAE-2016.01.003

Abstract:

During the period of the 13th Five-Year Plan and even in a long period in the future, the demand for husbandry products in China will show a rigid increase. But Chinese husbandry is currently faced with unfavorable situations, such as the serious resources shortage, the increasing environmental constraints, and the intense international competitions that exacerbate their impact on domestic husbandry. Based on the above facts, Chinese husbandry should take the sustainable development strategy for the future. This paper analyzes the development status of Chinese husbandry and challenges for its sustainable development and makes a basic judgment on the sustainable development of Chinese husbandry. Aiming at the 13th Five-Year Plan, the paper develops the strategic objectives, strategic priorities and basic principles that will benefit the sustainable development of Chinese husbandry. Furthermore, in order to provide theoretical support for accelerating the transformation of Chinese husbandry development mode, and realizing the husbandry modernization, it also puts forward some important suggestions on "further making clear the strategic dominance of husbandry in modern agriculture development" and "reasonable use of the international market to protect domestic food security" and "quickly launching and implementing a batch of key husbandry science and technology R&D programs".

Development Trends for China’s Instrumentation Engineering Science and Technology to 2035

Wang Xue and Zhang Li

Strategic Study of CAE 2017, Volume 19, Issue 1,   Pages 103-107 doi: 10.15302/J-SSCAE-2017.01.015

Abstract:

Instrumentation is the fundamental technology and essential equipment for intelligent manufacturing, scientific research, environmental monitoring, healthcare, national defense construction, and so forth. As an important support toward achieving a national innovation strategy, instrumentation development determines the level of strategic new industries, which include the innovative information industry, high-end equipment-manufacturing industry, energy industry, materials industry, and so forth. This paper analyzes development trends of instrumentation engineering science and technology to 2035. Within the requirements of digital, intelligent, and networked instruments, key technologies and future trends are depicted for three main aspects: intelligent instrumentation, medical instruments, and micro-electro-mechanical systems (MEMS). Development strategies and suggestions for China’s instrumentation engineering science and technology to 2035 are also put forward.

Atomic and close-to-atomic scale manufacturing—A trend in manufacturing development

Fengzhou FANG

Frontiers of Mechanical Engineering 2016, Volume 11, Issue 4,   Pages 325-327 doi: 10.1007/s11465-016-0402-1

Abstract:

Manufacturing is the foundation of a nation’s economy. It is the primary industry to promote economic and social development. To accelerate and upgrade China’s manufacturing sector from “precision manufacturing” to “high-performance and high-quality manufacturing”, a new breakthrough should be found in terms of achieving a “leap-frog development”. Unlike conventional manufacturing, the fundamental theory of “Manufacturing 3.0” is beyond the scope of conventional theory; rather, it is based on new principles and theories at the atomic and/or close-to-atomic scale. Obtaining a dominant role at the international level is a strategic move for China’s progress.

Innovation-driven trend shaping COVID-19 vaccine development in China

Frontiers of Medicine doi: 10.1007/s11684-023-1034-6

Abstract: Confronted with the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic, China has become an asset in tackling the severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) transmission and mutation, with several innovative platforms, which provides various technical means in this persisting combat. Derived from collaborated researches, vaccines based on the spike protein of SARS-CoV-2 or inactivated whole virus are a cornerstone of the public health response to COVID-19. Herein, we outline representative vaccines in multiple routes, while the merits and plights of the existing vaccine strategies are also summarized. Likewise, new technologies may provide more potent or broader immunity and will contribute to fight against hypermutated SARS-CoV-2 variants. All in all, with the ultimate aim of delivering robust and durable protection that is resilient to emerging infectious disease, alongside the traditional routes, the discovery of innovative approach to developing effective vaccines based on virus properties remains our top priority.
