Phase Ⅲ RCC Cofferdam Construction of TGP

Zhang Shuguang

Strategic Study of CAE 2003, Volume 5, Issue 11,   Pages 79-81

Abstract:

The phase Ⅲ RCC cofferdam construction belongs to the phase Ⅲ diversion works. It is a key item to ensure achievement of the reservoir impoundment, navigation and power generation in 2003 and the guarantee to the safety construction of the follow-up right-bank intake dam section and the powerhouse. Restrained by navigation while construction, the construction site and duration, both the concreting intensity and the rise height of the phase Ⅲ RCC cofferdam exceed the current construction level. In view of these difficulties, a huge amount of research work has been performed by relevant departments and is described in the paper.

Technical Breakthroughs in the Construction of TGP

Zhang Chaoran,Dai Huichao

Strategic Study of CAE 2003, Volume 5, Issue 2,   Pages 20-25

Abstract:

The huge Three Gorges Project is technically complex. Quite a lot of technical breakthroughs have been made on the issues such as river closure of the Grand Channel and concrete construction of the cutoff wall, prompt concrete construction of dam, high slope construction of permanent shiplock, large-scale steel-lined reinforced concrete penstocks of power station and temperature and pressure maintaining of the spiral case, asphalt concrete core wall, metal works of the shiplock, turbine generating units, and so on.

reservoir sediment deposition and downstream river channel scouring after impoundment and operation of TGP

Lu Jinyou,Huang Yue,Wang Jun

Strategic Study of CAE 2011, Volume 13, Issue 7,   Pages 129-136

Abstract:

According to the measured data after impoundment and operation of the Three Gorges Reservoir, the reservoir sediment deposition and downstream river channel scouring are described briefly and compared with the research results achieved in the demonstration stage. It is indicated through analysis that the reservoir sediment deposition and downstream river channel scouring during 8-year impoundment and operation are still within the original forecast, so the original forecasting results are feasible. The further observation and comparison should be conducted because the comparison between the observed data and the original forecast is not so sufficient in time and the prototype observation and related research work should be strengthened in the future.
