An approach to locational marginal price based zonal congestion management in deregulated electricity

Md SARWAR,Anwar Shahzad SIDDIQUI

Frontiers in Energy 2016, Volume 10, Issue 2,   Pages 240-248 doi: 10.1007/s11708-016-0404-z

Abstract: Congestion of transmission line is a vital issue and its management pose a technical challenge in powerTherefore, to manage congestion, a locational marginal price (LMP) based zonal congestion managementThis paper utilizes the difference of LMP across a transmission line to categorize various congestionAfter the identification of congestion zones, distributed generation is optimally placed in most congestionsensitive zones using LMP difference in order to manage congestion.

Abstract: As a promising future network architecture, named data networking (NDN) has been widely considered as a very appropriate network protocol for the (MWN). In named-data MWNs, is a critical issue. Independent optimization for may cause severe performance degradation if it can not cooperate well with protocols in other layers. Cross-layer is a potential method to enhance performance. There have been many cross-layer mechanisms for MWN with Internet Protocol (IP). However, these cross-layer mechanisms for MWNs with IP are not applicable to named-data MWNs because the communication characteristics of NDN are different from those of IP. In this paper, we study the joint , forwarding strategy, and link scheduling problem for named-data MWNs. The problem is modeled as a network utility maximization (NUM) problem. Based on the approximate subgradient algorithm, we propose an algorithm called ‘jointly optimized , forwarding strategy, and link scheduling (JOCFS)’ to solve the NUM problem distributively and iteratively. To the best of our knowledge, our proposal is the first cross-layer mechanism for named-data MWNs. By comparison with the existing mechanism, JOCFS can achieve a better performance in terms of network throughput, fairness, and the pending interest table (PIT) size.

New Mode of City Without Road Congestion—Saving 70% of Land, Capital and Energy

Strategic Study of CAE 2006, Volume 8, Issue 1,   Pages 11-17

Abstract:

This paper puts forward “Ideas on Reforming City Gene” and “New Smooth City Mode”. At present, city suffers from fatal gene —“misplaced space”,which leads to ten serious problems hindering city sustainable development: occupation of too much city land, low efficiency, high energy consumption, heavy pollution, great difficulty in parking, poor public security, uncomfortable living environment, frequent occurrence of traffic accidents and huge amount of transportation investment. It is better to carry out study from perspective of 4 levels of “city transportation—city space—economy—society”,locate transportation problems from other point of view instead of from transportation, and get rid of gene of “misplaced space”. Only by this way, can many problems concerning city transportation and sustainable development get solved completely. A disordered city space can be separated into two free spaces by constructing one for cars and one for people respectively, thus constructing a “New Smooth City Mode”. The new mode can realize goal of finding new street system to adapt to characteristics of car transportation as put forward by “Athens Charter” as well as target of building saving and pleasant “human-oriented” city.

Strategic Study of CAE 2011, Volume 13, Issue 1,   Pages 43-48

Abstract:

This paper analyzes the dynamic nature of real-time traffic network performance measurement, with particular focus on random traffic flow fluctuation, traffic deferred conduction effect and traffic periodicity. The limitations of the traditional traffic network evaluation methods based on traffic V/C is discussed; followed by the presentation of a novel approach for real-time traffic network performance evaluation, which solves the previous technical issues such as data collection and processing with no blind region, dynamic spatial-temporal traffic network performance analysis and evaluation threshold calibration. The proposed approach is validated in a case study using the Beijing traffic network, which proves its rationality, efficiency and practicality. The implications of the research and methodologies presented in this paper provide new theories and perspectives for infrastructural planning, dynamic road network performance evaluation, etc.
