Jianping Ye

Frontiers of Medicine 2015, Volume 9, Issue 2,   Pages 139-145 doi: 10.1007/s11684-015-0377-z

Abstract: In this review article, interleukin 15 (IL-15) is used as a new example to explain the beneficial effectsIL-15 expression is induced in immune cells by endotoxin and in muscle cells by physical exercise. In the regulation of metabolism, IL-15 reduces weight gain without inhibiting food intake in rodents. In human, circulating IL-15 is negatively associated with body weight. The mechanism of IL-15 action remains to be fully uncovered in the regulation of energy expenditure.

Abstract: . • It removed 90% of NO3−-N in 24 h under aerobic conditions. • This strain converted NO3−-N to bio-nitrogenAmong them, 37.9% of NO3−-N was assimilated into Bio-N, about 51.9% was reduced to gaseous nitrogen andless than 0.5% of nitrogen was replaced by NO2−-N and NH4+-N, 9.7% NO3−-N remained in the effluent atIn addition, it was found with the 15N tracer technique that inoculation of this strain on sludge increasedthe amount of nitrogen loss from 9.26 nmol N/(g·h) to 23.835 nmol N/(g·h).

Abstract: As a novel architecture, software-defined networking (SDN) is viewed as the key technology of future networking. The core idea of SDN is to decouple the control plane and the data plane, enabling centralized, flexible, and programmable network control. Although local area networks like data center networks have benefited from SDN, it is still a problem to deploy SDN in wide area networks (WANs) or large-scale networks. Existing works show that multiple controllers are required in WANs with each covering one small SDN domain. However, the problems of SDN domain partition and controller placement should be further addressed. Therefore, we propose the spectral clustering based partition and placement algorithms, by which we can partition a large network into several small SDN domains efficiently and effectively. In our algorithms, the matrix perturbation theory and eigengap are used to discover the stability of SDN domains and decide the optimal number of SDN domains automatically. To evaluate our algorithms, we develop a new experimental framework with the Internet2 topology and other available WAN topologies. The results show the effectiveness of our algorithm for the SDN domain partition and controller placement problems.

Experimental investigation on freeze−thaw durability of polymer concrete

Frontiers of Structural and Civil Engineering 2021, Volume 15, Issue 4,   Pages 1038-1046 doi: 10.1007/s11709-021-0748-2

Abstract: Assessing the durability of concrete is of prime importance to provide an adequate service life and reduce the repairing cost of structures. Freeze–thaw is one such test that indicates the ability of concrete to last a long time without a significant loss in its performance. In this study, the freeze–thaw resistance of polymer concrete containing different polymer contents was explored and compared to various conventional cement concretes. Concretes’ fresh and hardened properties were assessed for their workability, air content, and compressive strength. The mass loss, length change, dynamic modulus of elasticity, and residual compressive strength were determined for all types of concretes subjected to freeze–thaw cycles according to ASTM C666-procedure A. Results showed that polymer concrete (PC) specimens prepared with higher dosages of polymer contents possessed better freeze–thaw durability compared to other specimens. This high durability performance of PCs is mainly due to their impermeable microstructures, absence of water in their structure, and the high bond strength between aggregates and a polymer binder. It is also indicated that the performance of high-strength concrete containing air-entraining admixture is comparable with PC having optimum polymer content in terms of residual compressive strength, dynamic modulus of elasticity, mass loss, and length change.

Duality of Thinking and Turning It Into Creative Thinking Commemorating Publication 15th Annual of on

Strategic Study of CAE 2003, Volume 5, Issue 2,   Pages 26-34

Abstract:

Entering the era of 21st century, there are two characteristics bearing on thinkinginnovation and comprehension. As to innovation, how to exite creative-thinking is a warm problem. From the high level of philosophy—epistemology and relative-truth of materialist-dialectics, this paper shows that there is the duality of every form of thinking including the thinking of deduction and that of socalled fixed-accustoming. There is an existence of both non-creative thinking and creative thinking and under certain conditions non-creative thinking may be turn into creative thinking which can make new knowledge and innovative achievements. As to comprehension, there are many different opinions on how to define and classify thinkings. By combining physiology and psychology, this paper divides thinkings into 2 parts and 7 basic forms. Connecting dialectics with comprehension, the conclusions of this paper are shown: the duality of non-creative thinking and creative thinking, the duality of reasoning thinking and understanding thinking, the duality of original knowledge and new knowledge, the duality of idea and test-verification, the duality of discovery and invention, the duality of science (sense of truth ) and art (sense of beauty ). The last conclusion is expressed as an example of seeking the theory of a cross-course —industrial design, the main contents of which are technology, art and market. This theory of ID is the first advance in ID.

Rencheng Zhu, Jingnan Hu, Liqiang He, Lei Zu, Xiaofeng Bao, Yitu Lai, Sheng Su

Frontiers of Environmental Science & Engineering 2021, Volume 15, Issue 1, doi: 10.1007/s11783-020-1306-1

Abstract: Abstract • Emissions from two sedans were tested with gasoline, E10 and M15 at 30°C and -7°C. • As thedecreased, the PM, PN and BC emissions increased with all fuels. • Particulate emissions with E10 and M15(15% methanol and 85% gasoline by volume) at both 30°C and -7°C.At 30°C, the BC emissions were lower with E10 and M15 than with gasoline in most cases, but E10 and M15might emit more BC than gasoline at -7°C, especially M15.
