Research on Origin of Traditional Chinese Medicine

Fu Youfeng

Strategic Study of CAE 2006, Volume 8, Issue 9,   Pages 1-12

Abstract:

Based on prototype analysis of epidemic disease and ancient therapy (such as iron method, fire moxibustion and acupuncture therapy) , the author has explored the relationship between epidemic disease (especially bubonic plague) and medicine origin. From the point of view that medicine comes of epidemic disease, the author has conducted research on rich resources of Chinese cultural relics, ancient writing and medical literature on medicine history, including the difference between ancient name and modem name of disease, difference between TCM and Western medicine in terms of methodology. It would provide precious reference for the analysis and promotion of TCM achievement on epidemic disease and for the research on combination of TCM and Western medicine, sustainable development of TCM and international promotion of TCM.

Strategic Study of CAE 2020, Volume 22, Issue 1,   Pages 139-145 doi: 10.15302/J-SSCAE-2020.01.018

Abstract:

The medical specialty catalogue is of great significance for promoting the development of the medical discipline and cultivating qualified medical talents; therefore, a comprehensive and scientific medical specialty catalogue becomes even more important in the context of constructing first-class disciplines in colleges and universities. To promote the progressive development of medical disciplines in China, this research sorted out the medical specialty category by literature analysis, and systematically compared the features and category of medical specialty among the U.S. and the U.K. and China. Several major problems are raised as follow: non-uniform medical specialty and sub-specialty category, outdated arrangement of specialties in quantities and content, premature entry into sub-specialty training, inconsistent categories with standardized residential training, etc. To tackle the problems above, this research suggests that the medical specialty category should be in track with global standard, unified with interdisciplinary approach, and standardized admission and exit criteria be set up, which will prepare future qualified health professionals and promote the advancement of medical disciplines.

Strategic Study of CAE 2021, Volume 23, Issue 2,   Pages 169-174 doi: 10.15302/J-SSCAE-2021.02.016

Abstract:

In 2020, the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) broke out and swept rapidly all over the world. The Chinese and western integrative medicine, a unique medical model in China, has played an important role in the fight against the epidemic. We need to draw experience from the fight against the epidemic to promote the development of Chinese and western integrative medicine and provide intellectual support and theoretical guarantee for the national health and medical undertakings. First, we review the achievements of the Chinese and western integrative medicine since 1949 using literature review and questionnaire survey, and summarize the key roles of this integrative medicine in the prevention and control of COVID-19. Subsequently, we analyze the weaknesses of the integrative medicine in terms of medical resources, clinical education and research, and internationalization, and propose the construction goals for this discipline under the new circumstances in China, including the inheritance and innovation of the Chinese and western integrative medicine and a world-leading role in the integration of Chinese traditional medicine with western medicine. Furthermore, we suggest that China should improve the governance system for the Chinese and western integrative medicine, enhance talent training in this discipline, actively promote international exchange, and encourage the Chinese and western medicine integration culture.

Abstract:

Under the guidance of the basic theories of TCM, acupotomology adopts the outcomes of modem science and technology including western medicine, and brings forward a new medical theory. Acupotomology is the fruit of 30-year researches and has formed a new complete theoretical system. It is one of the successful examples which have realized modernization in the basic theories of TCM. It include four basic theories and six parts. The four basic theories include the theory of closed operation, the etiology and pathology of chronic soft issue injury, the new etiology of hyperosteogeny, the etiology of spinal area and the theory of the electrophysiological conducting system existed in the human body. The six parts are the physiopathology of acupotomology, the imageology of acupotomology, the manipulation of acupotomology, the diagnostics of acupotomology, the therapeutics of acupotomology and the nursing theory of acupotomology. With many doctors, clinical practice and reseachers' deep reseach, the theories of acupotomology go on deepening and the technique is improving. The field of indication increases gradually and it has formed a unique medical subject and opens up a new road for solving various medical difficulties.

Strategic Study of CAE 2018, Volume 20, Issue 2,   Pages 86-91 doi: 10.15302/J-SSCAE-2018.02.013

Abstract:

The integration, open accessing of healthcare data, and the use of artificial intelligence to organize and analyze fragmented medical information can improve medical and health services, promote the level of rational government decision-making, and reduce the inequality in the allocation of medical and health resources. This paper summarizes the current status of technologies and applications of artificial intelligence in the field of medical information semantic fusion and in the field of image analysis, and analyzes current problems and challenges. The first is the standardized representation and structural integration of medical information to merge national and widely-used clinical terminologies, which is key to realizing auxiliary diagnosis based on ‘big data’ artificial intelligent. The second is the use of massive medical knowledge to construct an intelligent diagnosis and treatment model with the ability to combine multimodal data analysis and structured knowledge reasoning. Thus, we propose a national-level healthcare open data cloud platform that can help open up new data markets, improve the integration of healthcare data, and provide the new service of knowledge discovery and services. We also suggest to establish some basic industry standards for medical and health information, to strengthen the research and development of domestic medical devices, to promote the development of intelligent medical devices and smart wearable devices, and to guide the industry to open up new markets on the combination of artificial intelligence and medical devices.

Mending the schism between clinical medicine and public health, strengthening disease prevention and control in China

Wang Longde

Strategic Study of CAE 2009, Volume 11, Issue 10,   Pages 148-152

Abstract:

This paper introduced the serious harm caused by the schism between clinical medicine and public health in disease prevention and control in China. In recent years, China has made significant efforts to mend this schism, developing an internet-based information system for communicable disease control and prevention, implementing a surveillance and reporting system for pneumonia of unknown etiology, strengthening the cooperation between medical and disease control institutions in TB prevention and control, making a momentous breakthrough in the reform of health services for patients suffering from strokes—an important chronic disease, to adapt to the needs of patients, and gradually adding clinical medicine to the modern model of disease prevention and control. These reform measures have successfully strengthened the link between clinical medicine and public health, and improved the overall efficacy of the disease control system; yet, this progress is merely the beginning of what must be done. Further measures to improve disease control, including establishing and implementing the criteria for medical institutions to implement public health tasks, must be carried out.
