Innovations in planning and design of Luojing Port area

Wu Peng

Strategic Study of CAE 2012, Volume 14, Issue 3,   Pages 92-99

Abstract:

The newbuilt Luojing Port area in shanghai port is an integrative port which is a combination of iron ore, coal, steel and other bulk cargo, and it is the world´s first port which provides distribution and other value-added services for the large steel companies. The brand new parallel layout mode for combined port of transshipment hub and logistics has been developed in the plan and design of Luojing port area. Based on the traditional arrangement methods of public port, using the logistic concepts of just in time (JIT) and lean production (LP), the cargohandling technology and plane arrangement of port have been optimized, and the service level has been elevated, and the port service chain has been prolonged. The highly integration and synchronization of the logistics process has been achieved. The deep coast and land resources have been saved and energy consumption has been reduced.

Innovations of phosphorus sustainability: implications for the whole chain

Jianbo SHEN, Liyang WANG, Xiaoqiang JIAO, Fanlei MENG, Lin ZHANG, Gu FENG, Junling ZHANG, Lixing YUAN, Lin MA, Yong HOU, Tao ZHANG, Weifeng ZHANG, Guohua LI, Kai ZHANG, Fusuo ZHANG

Frontiers of Agricultural Science and Engineering 2019, Volume 6, Issue 4,   Pages 321-331 doi: 10.15302/J-FASE-2019283

Abstract:

Phosphorus (P) is a non-renewable resource, therefore ensuring global food and environmental security depends upon sustainable P management. To achieve this goal, sustainable P management in the upstream and downstream sectors of agriculture from mineral extraction to food consumption must be addressed systematically. The innovation and feasibility of P sustainability are highlighted from the perspective of the whole P-based chain, including the mining and processing of P rock, production of P fertilizers, soil and rhizosphere processes involving P, absorption and utilization of P by plants, P in livestock production, as well as flow and management of P at the catchment scale. The paper also emphasizes the importance of recycling P and the current challenges of P recovery. Finally, sustainable solutions of holistic P management are proposed from the perspective of technology improvement with policy support.

Considerations on Innovation in the Development of Nuclear Agricultural Sciences

Wang Zhidong,Gao Meixu

Strategic Study of CAE 2008, Volume 10, Issue 1,   Pages 86-90

Abstract:

The development status and existing problems in the field of nuclear agricultural sciences (NAS) are reviewed .Including the application of nuclear technology in mutation breeding by irradiation, isotopic technique application, food irradiation and sterile insect technique, etc. China has made great achievements in the research and application of nuclear technique in agriculture from 1950s to 1990s. Due to lack of enough financial support to the basic research and reformation of science & research system in China, the development of NAS now meets its tough time. Through analyzing the difference and reasons of NAS development between China and the USA, it is recognized that the innovation in research and scientific system is important for promoting the development speed and research level of NAS.

Engineering 2016, Volume 2, Issue 1,   Pages 97-102 doi: 10.1016/J.ENG.2016.01.018

Abstract:

The pressurized water reactor CAP1400 is one of the sixteen National Science and Technology Major Projects. Developed from China’s nuclear R&D system and manufacturing capability, as well as AP1000 technology introduction and assimilation, CAP1400 is an advanced large passive nuclear power plant with independent intellectual property rights. By discussing the top design principle, main performance objectives, general parameters, safety design, and important improvements in safety, economy, and other advanced features, this paper reveals the technology innovation and competitiveness of CAP1400 as an internationally promising Gen-III PWR model. Moreover, the R&D of CAP1400 has greatly promoted China’s domestic nuclear power industry from the Gen-II to the Gen-III level.
