The Development of Marine Optical Remote Sensing and the Frontiers

Pan Delu,Li Yan

Strategic Study of CAE 2003, Volume 5, Issue 3,   Pages 39-43

Abstract:

The space remote sensing and information technique have become a necessary tool to observe the different scale, different layer and continuous dynamical phenomenon of oceanic resources and environment. The marine remote sensing has more advantage than the normal investigation in the collection of marine environment parameters of several yeas, even several ten years. In the 1970s the international scientists began the real time detection of oceanic environment by means of water leaving radiance measurement from satellite. China has paid great attention and has made great progress in this field since the 1980s. This paper, first, reviews the development of marine optical remote sensing in China over the last 20 years. Secondly, the neads of this technique in national rights and interests, preventing and reducing natural calamities and management and development of marine resources are discussed. Finally, the key technique and frontiers of the application of marine optical remote sensing in the monitoring of marine environment are expounded, such as marine satellite operational monitoring system, accuracy analysis and quantitization, high frequency and long term monitor data collection, the combination application of multi sensor and key technique, etc.

Super-resolution Near-field Optical Imaging and its Industrial Development

Wu Shifa

Strategic Study of CAE 2000, Volume 2, Issue 2,   Pages 10-14

Abstract:

The super-resolution near-field optical imaging is an advanced project in the front of high engi-neering science and is an industry that should be developed early in the 21th century in China. In this paper, the historical events and PSTM developments in China are introduced. The imaging expressions of all kinds of the super-resolution near-field optical imaging systems are derived and compared with each others. In general, only with the mode of constant separation of tip-sample may obtain the pure optical image of sample, such as the image of refractive index, reflectivity or transmisivity of sample. The evanescent wave emitted from sample surface and the probe tip smaller than the diffraction limit are the two basic conditions of super-resolution in optical imaging. The other key to obtain the super-resolution is the modulated tip with vertical vibration in the mixture field of evanescent wave and propagating wave in near-field. For the transparent sample PSTM is the best to separate the pure optical image and topography of sampe. The author has applied for two invented patents on PSTM, which will be benificial to the development of PSTM industry in China.

A look at field manipulation and antenna design using 3D transformation electromagnetics and 2D surface electromagnetics Review

Frontiers of Information Technology & Electronic Engineering 2020, Volume 21, Issue 3,   Pages 351-365 doi: 10.1631/FITEE.1900489

Abstract: While many techniques have been developed for the design of different types of antennas, such as wire antenna, patch antenna, lenses, and reflectors, these cannot be said general-purpose strategies for the synthesis and design of antennas to achieve the performance characteristics specified by users. Recently, there has been an increasing need for the development of antenna design techniques because of the advent of 5G and a variety of space, defense, biological, and similar applications, for which a robust and general-purpose design tool is not to be developed. The main objective of this study is to take a look at antenna design from the field manipulation point of view, which has the potential to partially fulfill this need. We review the existing field manipulation techniques, including field transformation methods based on Maxwell’s and wave equations, point out some limitations of these techniques, and then present ways to improve the performance of these methods. Next, we introduce an alternative approach for field manipulation based on two-dimensional (2D) metasurfaces, and present laws of the generalized reflection and refraction that are based on 2D surface electromagnetics. Then, we explore how to overcome the limitations of conventional reflection and refraction processes that are strictly bounded by the critical angle. Finally, we provide some application examples of field manipulation methods in the antenna design, with a view on developing a general-purpose strategy for antenna design for future communication.
