Finite element analysis of stress concentrations and failure criteria in composite plates with circular

摘要：

In this study, the stress concentration factors (SCF) in cross-and-angle-ply laminated composite plates as well as in isotropic plates with single circular holes subjected to uniaxial loading is studied. A quadrilateral finite element of four-node with 32 degrees of freedom at each node, previously developed for the bending and mechanical buckling of laminated composite plates, is used to evaluate the stress distribution in laminated composite plates with central circular holes. Based up on the classical plate theory, the present finite element is a combination of a linear isoparametric membrane element and a high precision rectangular Hermitian element. The numerical results obtained by the present element compare favorably with those obtained by the analytic approaches published in literature. It is observed that the obtained results are very close to the reference results, which demonstrates the accuracy of the present element. Additionally, to determine the first ply failure (FPF) of laminated plate, several failure criterions are employed. Finally, to show the effect of ratio on the failure of plates, a number of figures are given for different fiber orientation angles.

Trapezoidal Intuitionistic Fuzzy Aggregation Operator Based on Choquet Integral and Its Application to Multi-Criteria

摘要： The Choquet integral can serve as a useful tool to aggregate interacting criteria in an uncertain environment. In this paper, a trapezoidal intuitionistic fuzzy aggregation operator based on the Choquet integral is proposed for multi-criteria decision-making problems. The decision information takes the form of trapezoidal intuitionistic fuzzy numbers and both the importance and the interaction information among decision-making criteria are considered. On the basis of the introduction of trapezoidal intuitionistic fuzzy numbers, its operational laws and expected value are defined. A trapezoidal intuitionistic fuzzy aggregation operator based on the Choquet integral is then defined and some of its properties are investigated. A new multi-criteria decision-making method based on a trapezoidal intuitionistic fuzzy Choquet integral operator is proposed. Finally, an illustrative example is used to show the feasibility and availability of the proposed method.

Low-dose CT for lung cancer screening: opportunities and challenges

Lung cancer is among the most frequently diagnosed cancers worldwide and the leading cause of cancer death in both males and females. Screening for lung cancer coupled with earlier intervention has long been studied as an approach to mortality reduction. However, minimal progress was achieved until recently, when low-dose spiral computed tomography (LDCT) screening demonstrated a 20% reduction in mortality from lung cancer in a randomized controlled trial (RCT), the National Lung Screening Trial, from the United States. On the basis of this finding, LDCT has been recommended for lung cancer screening in high-risk populations by several clinical guidelines. However, results from the following independent RCTs in Europe failed to show consistent conclusions. In addition, intractable problems gradually emerged with the progress of LDCT screening. This paper summarizes and discusses the main observations and challenges of LDCT screening for lung cancer. Before spreading implementation of LDCT screening, challenges, including high false-positive rates, overdiagnosis, enormous costs, and radiation risk, must be addressed. Complementary biomarkers and technical improvement are expected in the field of lung cancer screening in the near future.

LSSVM-based approach for refining soil failure criteria and calculating safety factor of slopes

摘要： The failure criteria of practical soil mass are very complex, and have significant influence on the safety factor of slope stability. The Coulomb strength criterion and the power-law failure criterion are classically simplified. Each one has limited applicability owing to the noticeable difference between calculated predictions and actual results in some cases. In the work reported here, an analysis method based on the least square support vector machine (LSSVM), a machine learning model, is purposefully provided to establish a complex nonlinear failure criterion via iteration computation based on strength test data of the soil, which is of more extensive applicability to many problems of slope stability. In particular, three evaluation indexes including coefficient of determination, mean absolute percentage error, and mean square error indicate that fitting precision of the machine learning-based failure criterion is better than those of the linear Coulomb criterion and nonlinear power-law criterion. Based on the proposed LSSVM approach to determine the failure criterion, the limit equilibrium method can be used to calculate the safety factor of three-dimensional slope stability. Analysis of results of the safety factor of two three-dimensional homogeneous slopes shows that the maximum relative errors between the proposed approach and the linear failure criterion-based method and the power-law failure criterion-based method are about 12% and 7%, respectively.

Concepts and implementation of strain-based criteria in design codes for steel structures

摘要： A uniaxial tension test is commonly used to determine the mechanical properties of steel, but it has no meaning for the response of the material in a structure. The test was developed as a consensus solution by producers, fabricators, designers and code writers, to have a standard by which similar materials could be compared to a common base. It does not represent the actual behavior of the steel in a structure, and was never intended to do so. To study the true behavior of the structure and how the material responds it would be better to determine the strains and deformations that will take place during actual service condition. Such characteristics reflect the real behavior, whether in the elastic or inelastic range. If stresses or forces are needed, these are easily determined by the value of the strain and the relevant material modulus, along with the type of cross section, whether elastic or inelastic. The paper addresses the properties of a range of structural steels, how these are incorporated into design standards and how the standards define deformation characteristics and demands for bolted and welded connections.

调查分析了国内外海堤设防标准，把海堤破坏归结为6种模式，并分析风浪与潮位（流）对各种模式的影响，提出风浪与高潮遭遇概率粗略算法；根据海堤结构特点及其破坏模式，提出一种基于风浪与高潮遭遇概率，综合反映结构功能、使用要求与潜在风险，三层次设防的海堤设计标准，在此基础上提供了一种基于风险理论的海堤优化设计方法。

Systematic screening procedure and innovative energy-saving design for ionic liquid-based extractive

摘要： In the traditional extractive distillation process, organic solvents are often used as entrainers. However, environmental influence and high energy-consumption are significant problems in industrial application. In this study, a systematic screening strategy and innovative energy-saving design for ionic liquid-based extractive distillation process was proposed. The innovative energy-saving design focused on the binary minimum azeotrope mixtures isopropanol and water. Miscibility, environmental impact and physical properties (e.g., melting point and viscosity) of 30 ionic liquids were investigated. 1-Ethyl-3-methyl-imidazolium dicyanamide and 1-butyl-3-methyl-imidazolium dicyanamide were selected as candidate entrainers. Feasibility analysis of these two ionic liquids was further performed via residue curve maps, isovolatility line and temperature profiles. An innovative ionic liquid-based extractive distillation process combining distillation column and stripping column was designed and optimized with the objective function of minimizing the total annualized cost. The results demonstrate that the total annualized cost was reduced by 19.9% with 1-ethyl-3-methyl-imidazolium dicyanamide as the entrainer and by 24.3% with 1-butyl-3-methyl-imidazolium dicyanamide, compared with that of dimethyl sulfoxide. The method proposed in this study is conducive to the green and sustainable development of extractive distillation process.

Combination of ARTP mutagenesis and color-mediated high-throughput screening to enhance 1-naphthol yield

摘要： Strain QCG of the aerobic bacteria is capable of producing 1-naphthol from naphthalene, this strain was first isolated and characterized in this study. Strain QCG was mutagenized to enhance 1-naphthol production, using atmospheric and room temperature plasma (ARTP) technology. Then, a microbial clone screening system was used to accelerate the operation. Meanwhile, a novel color-mediated high-throughput screening using 4-aminoantipyrine was performed to screen mutants. The optimal mutant strain QCG4 produced 19.58±0.34 mg∙L 1-naphthol from naphthalene that was 47.32% higher than that of the original strain (13.29±0.28 mg∙L ). In addition, the optimal conditions for 1-naphthol production via whole-cell catalysis of strain QCG4 were determined to be an OD of 40, 150 mg∙L naphthalene, and 7.5% dimethyl formamide as a co-solvent at pH 7.5 and 26°C for 3 h, resulting in 41.18±0.12 mg∙L 1-naphthol, i.e., the mutant strain produces a 2.1-fold higher yield compared to the original strain.

Diagnostic criteria of latent autoimmune diabetes in adults (LADA): a review and reflection

摘要： Diabetes has become a major public health problem in China nowadays. There are almost 97 million diabetic patients nationwide. Latent autoimmune diabetes in adults (LADA) is a subtype of autoimmune diabetes. Although it has been reported for about 20 years, the diagnostic criteria of this disease remain controversial. The discussion mainly focused on serum autoantibodies, period of insulin need and age of diagnosis. Besides, β cell function, metabolic parameters, genetic factors and cell immunity may also contribute to the formulation of the criteria. Here, we aim to review and discuss the diagnostic criteria of latent autoimmune diabetes in adults.

Status of hyperhomocysteinemia in China: results from the China Stroke High-risk Population Screening

摘要： A nationwide survey was conducted from October 2018 to September 2019 to assess the prevalence of hyperhomocysteinemia (Hhcy) and its influencing factors in China. A standardized questionnaire was used to collect information. Hhcy was defined as the level of serum homocysteine (HCY) ≥15.0 µmol/L. The H-type hypertension (HHYP) was defined as hypertension with an elevated serum HCY (≥15.0 µmol/L). Finally, 110 551 residents ≥40 years of age from 31 provinces in the mainland of China were included. Overall, the median serum HCY level was 10.9 µmol/L (interquartile range 7.9–15.1). A total of 28 633 participants (25.9%) were defined as Hhcy. The Hhcy prevalence ranged from 7.9% in Shanghai to 56.8% in Tianjin. The data showed that serum HCY levels were associated with age, male gender, cigarette smoking, hypertension, diabetes, ethnicity, endurance in exercise (inverse), and fruit and vegetable intake (inverse). In addition, 15 486 participants were defined as HHYP, and the rate was 14.0%. HHYP was an independent predictor of stroke with an adjusted odds ratio of 1.752 (95% CI 1.338–2.105). The geographical distribution pattern of the Hhcy epidemic reflects dynamic differences, and national strategies should be carried out to further improve the care of patients with Hhcy across China.

摘要： The integration of porous organo-silicate low- materials has met a lot of technical challenges. One of the main issues is plasma-induced damage, occurring for all plasma steps involved during interconnects processing. In the present paper, we focus on porous SiOCH low- damage mitigation using cryogenic temperature so as to enable micro-capillary condensation. The aim is to protect the porous low- from plasma-induced damage and keep the -value of the material unchanged, in order to limit the RC delay of interconnexion levels while shrinking the microchip dimension. The cryogenic temperature is used to condense a gas inside the porous low- material. Then, the etching process is performed at the temperature of condensation in order to keep the condensate trapped inside the material during the etching. In the first part of this work, the condensation properties of several gases are screened, leading to a down selection of five gases. Then, their stability into the porous structure is evaluated at different temperature. Four of them are used for plasma damage mitigation comparison. Damage mitigation is effective and shows negligible damage for one of the gases at –50°C.

Screening of potential aquatic probiotics from the major microflora of guppies (

摘要： The fish ( ) was used as the source for probiotics. 46 bacterial isolates were obtained from the skin, gills, guts and intestines of the guppy, (collected from a government model fish farm in Kottayam, India). Of the above isolated strains, four isolates were selected based on their inhibitory spectrum against five indicator strains, 1739, 3906, 2495, 1271 and 1424 (standard cultures collected from Microbial Type Culture Collection (MTCC) Chandigarh, India). Among the resulting isolates, two were gram-positive cocci, namely MBTU-PB2 and MBTU-PB3 and belong to the genus . The other two were gram-negative rods, namely MBTU-PB1 and MBTU-PB4, of the genera and , respectively. The basic probiotic characteristics of these isolates such as the production of bacteriocin like inhibitory substances (BLIS), antibiotic sensitivities and growth profiles were also determined. The above four isolated strains exhibited different antagonisms than the five indicator strains. During incubation, the antibacterial activity gradually increased in the inhibition zone and was influenced by the lag period ( ) and doubling time. The lag periods for most of the four selected strains were shorter than those of the indicator strains and the isolates had different growth rates ( ) than the indicator strains. All four isolates produced BLIS, however, the strains had different BLIS activities against the indicator strains. Treatment of the neutralized cell free supernatants of the selected isolates with proteases eliminated or reduced the BLIS activity, suggesting a proteinaceous nature of the inhibitory compounds. Further, the optimum BLIS activity was observed at neutral pH after 18 h of incubation. The antibiotic sensitivity assay revealed that the isolates were susceptible to routinely used antibiotics, whereas the plasmid profiles showed that the plasmids had no role in the antagonistic properties of the four isolated strains. The results showed that the isolates could be a promising source for biocontrol agents in aquacultures.
