Development trend of urban design in “digital age”: Pan-dimensionality and individual-ubiquity

摘要: The wave of “digital age” featuring digital information is coming. Digital technology is profoundly changing the societal development direction and evolution paths. It also has significant bearing on production modes, social interactions and lifestyles. With regard to urban design, a system of knowledge about the creation and adaptation of material space forms that integrate humanities, art, technology and materials, digital technology has provided it with a brand-new and revolutionary scientific impetus for its evolution. The result of this evolution is “digital urban design paradigm based on human-computer interaction”, i.e., the urban development is moving toward “pan-dimensionality” and “individual ubiquity”. The future of urban design will construct a new approach to urban research and engineering, which is more complex, capable of accommodating and compatible with multiple goals of “instrumental rationality” and “value rationality”. Such a new approach shall be led by the probabilistic theory of “gray scale thinking”, reflecting quaternary synergetic view of “scientific rationality, ecological rationality, cultural rationality and technical rationality” to realize the cognitive progress of “engineering for the benefit of mankind”.

基于双光源的实时视线追踪系统

摘要:

介绍了一个非穿戴式的低成本视线追踪系统。采用双近红外光源照射,单CCD相机获取信息的系统结构。并采用独特的双眼参数综合利用的方法来获取视线方向参数,使视线方向追踪效果更加稳定,并且同时扩大了有效追踪范围。此外,在视线方向参数获取、分析的过程中采用了一套快速算法使系统能满足实时性的要求。应用实例表明,该系统在人-机交互领域的应用已有了初步成效。

Challenges of human–machine collaboration in risky decision-making

摘要: The purpose of this paper is to delineate the research challenges of human–machine collaboration in risky decision-making. Technological advances in machine intelligence have enabled a growing number of applications in human–machine collaborative decision-making. Therefore, it is desirable to achieve superior performance by fully leveraging human and machine capabilities. In risky decision-making, a human decision-maker is vulnerable to cognitive biases when judging the possible outcomes of a risky event, whereas a machine decision-maker cannot handle new and dynamic contexts with incomplete information well. We first summarize features of risky decision-making and possible biases of human decision-makers therein. Then, we argue the necessity and urgency of advancing human–machine collaboration in risky decision-making. Afterward, we review the literature on human–machine collaboration in a general decision context, from the perspectives of human–machine organization, relationship, and collaboration. Lastly, we propose challenges of enhancing human–machine communication and teamwork in risky decision-making, followed by future research avenues.

The Group Interaction Field for Learning and Explaining Pedestrian Anticipation

摘要: Anticipating others’ actions is innate and essential in order for humans to navigate and interact well with others in dense crowds. This ability is urgently required for unmanned systems such as service robots and self-driving cars. However, existing solutions struggle to predict pedestrian anticipation accurately, because the influence of group-related social behaviors has not been well considered. While group relationships and group interactions are ubiquitous and significantly influence pedestrian anticipation, their influence is diverse and subtle, making it difficult to explicitly quantify. Here, we propose the group interaction field (GIF), a novel group-aware representation that quantifies pedestrian anticipation into a probability field of pedestrians’ future locations and attention orientations. An end-to-end neural network, GIFNet, is tailored to estimate the GIF from explicit multidimensional observations. GIFNet quantifies the influence of group behaviors by formulating a group interaction graph with propagation and graph attention that is adaptive to the group size and dynamic interaction states. The experimental results show that the GIF effectively represents the change in pedestrians’ anticipation under the prominent impact of group behaviors and accurately predicts pedestrians’ future states. Moreover, the GIF contributes to explaining various predictions of pedestrians’ behavior in different social states. The proposed GIF will eventually be able to allow unmanned systems to work in a human-like manner and comply with social norms, thereby promoting harmonious human–machine relationships.

摘要: 为支持室内环境下长达两小时及以上的人机交互实验,我们研发了一款“佐治亚理工全自动迷你气球飞行机器人”(GT-MAB)。GT-MAB可以安全地与人近距离互动。该机器人具有人脸识别、自动跟踪人类使用者以及手势识别等功能。采用深度人工神经网络检测GT-MAB实时视频信号中人类使用者的脸和手,并基于此功能,设计一套人机交互系统实现GT-MAB与使用者之间的自然交互。GT-MAB的学习算法可以自主识别两种手势,因此在交互过程中,使用者无需佩戴任何装置就可与GT-MAB互动。基于机器视觉的反馈控制器可控制GT-MAB自动追踪并跟随使用者。一旦机器人成功识别使用者的手势,机器人会以对应的飞行轨迹回应使用者手势,同时将识别结果以及意图通过其自身搭载的LED显示屏展示给使用者。实验数据表明,向人类使用者展示的视觉信号能明显提高人类使用者和GT-MAB之间的交互体验。实验结果表明,GT-MAB作为一款新型飞行机器人,可在室内环境下安全地与人互动并有效采集人机交互数据。

基于人体髋关节转动中心分析的髋关节外骨骼仿生设计 Article

摘要: 为了改善外骨骼穿戴舒适性,本文提出了一种基于人机物理交互优化的外骨骼设计方法。该方法通过设计外骨骼髋关节,使其保证人体髋关节运动时外骨骼髋关节转动中心能跟随人体髋关节转动中心的运动轨迹。当人体髋关节运动时,通过实验测量和计算可以得到其转动中心轨迹。本文设计的外骨骼髋关节运动机构能在人体髋关节屈曲/伸展和外展/内收时,保证转动中心都能够包容人体髋关节转动中心运动范围。同时,所设计的外骨骼髋关节被应用到下肢步行康复训练外骨骼中。通过人机接触力实验可知,与传统设计外骨骼髋关节进行相比,本文设计的仿生髋关节外骨骼在髋关节屈曲/伸展和内收/外展时分别可以减小24.1%和76.0%的人机接触力。这一结果证明仿生设计髋关节外骨骼更具穿戴舒适性,更符合人机工程学的设计要求。最后,本文通过建立人机闭式链模型进一步分析了仿生设计对于人体髋关节内力的影响,并验证该设计能减少关节内力作用。

从计算机辅助设计到人辅助设计——一种等几何拓扑优化方法

本文提出了一种新的设计模式——人辅助设计,以取代传统的计算机辅助设计。在人辅助设计中,计算机可以通过一种新的等几何拓扑优化自动完成整个产品设计,而人类仅需协助轻微修改设计以满足要求。文中提出了一种嵌入域等几何拓扑优化用于设计具有不规则设计域的复杂模型,并且可以基于分层等几何拓扑优化结果自动生成优化结果的可编辑几何模型。测试了三个算例以验证所提出的等几何拓扑优化模式,包括一个具有规则设计域的3D悬臂梁,一个具有不规则设计域的汽车零件和一个具有多尺度结构的MBB梁。结果表明,所提出的等几何拓扑优化模式可以自动生成高质量的优化模型。因此,该技术具有成为革命性技术的巨大潜力,可以将当前设计模式由计算机辅助设计转变为人辅助设计。

全人抗体免疫原性小、安全性高。目前研究的处于临床试验阶段的大多数抗体药物都是人源化或全人抗体。全人抗体多通过噬菌体展示技术(体外)或转基因小鼠(体内)产生;其他方法包括B淋巴细胞永生化、人-人杂交瘤、单细胞聚合酶链反应等。本文描述了一种基于分子结构的计算机辅助设计新抗体技术,用于获得全人抗体。由于靶向人表皮生长因子受体2(HER2)的注射用曲妥珠单抗(赫赛汀)的结构复杂,我们首先针对赫赛汀识别HER2 的潜在表位设计了6 条短肽。随后,将这些肽作为抗体互补决定区,并采用适合的免疫球蛋白框架,获得名为“HF”的新型抗HER2 抗体。HF比赫赛汀具有更高的亲和力和更有效的抗肿瘤活性。我们的工作为用于机理研究以及免疫相关疾病(如癌症和传染病)的成像和临床应用的新型全人抗体的快速设计和筛选提供了有用工具。

20世纪80年代以来,与人工智能(AI)密切相关的有两件大事,即日本的第五代计算机计划和中国的(“八六三”-306)智能计算机计划。两个计划实施后,使人们对智能自动化问题的认识有很大转变与提高。钱学森先生对此指出了人机结合的重要性,并认为应该研究人机结合的智能系统。笔者于1994年提出“智能科学和智能工程”这一学科领域的设想,到今天,有关人-机结合的智能系统研究已经有了相当的进展。

Reactive power compensation of an isolated hybrid power system with load interaction using ANFIS tuned

摘要: This paper presents an adaptive neuro fuzzy interference system (ANFIS) based approach to tune the parameters of the static synchronous compensator (STATCOM) with frequent disturbances in load model and power input of a wind-diesel based isolated hybrid power system (IHPS). In literature, proportional integral (PI) based controller constants are optimized for voltage stability in hybrid systems due to the interaction of load disturbances and input power disturbances. These conventional controlling techniques use the integral square error (ISE) criterion with an open loop load model. An ANFIS tuned constants of a STATCOM controller for controlling the reactive power requirement to stabilize the voltage variation is proposed in the paper. Moreover, the interaction between the load and the isolated power system is developed in terms of closed loop load interaction with the system. Furthermore, a comparison of transient responses of IHPS is also presented when the system has only the STATCOM and the static compensation requirement of the induction generator is fulfilled by the fixed capacitor, dynamic compensation requirement, meanwhile, is fulfilled by STATCOM. The model is tested for a 1% step increase in reactive power load demand at = 0 s and then a sudden change of 3% from the 1% at = 0.01 s for a 1% step increase in power input at variable wind speed model.

Evaluation of computer vision techniques for automated hardhat detection in indoor construction safety

摘要: Construction is considered among the most dangerous industries and is responsible for a large portion of total worker fatalities. A construction worker has a probability of 1-in-200 of dying on the job during a 45-year career, mainly due to fires, falls, and being struck by or caught between objects. Hence, employers must ensure their workers wear personal protective equipment (PPE), in particular hardhats, if they are at risk of falling, being struck by falling objects, hitting their heads on static objects, or coming in proximity to electrical hazards. However, monitoring the presence and proper use of hardhats becomes inefficient when safety officers must survey large areas and a considerable number of workers. Using images captured from indoor jobsites, this paper evaluates existing computer vision techniques, namely object detection and color-based segmentation tools, used to rapidly detect if workers are wearing hardhats. Experiments are conducted and the results highlight the potential of cascade classifiers, in particular, to accurately, precisely, and rapidly detect hardhats under different scenarios and for repetitive runs, and the potential of color-based segmentation to eliminate false detections.
