Real atom economy and its application for evaluation the green degree of a process

摘要： Green chemistry has attracted more attention in the past century. Among the 12 principles of green chemistry, only atom economy and E factor can be expressed quantitatively to depict the impact of a chemical process to environment. Atom economy was thought better than the traditional yield for evaluating the atom efficiency of raw materials. But it is not enough to reflect the conversion degree of raw material. In this paper, we proposed the concept of real atom economy (RAE) as a metric. RAE could combine the above two factors together to better express the green degree of a process. We further suggested an equation to correlate E factor with RAE. The concept of RAE is proved to be helpful for estimating an environmentally benign process.

Green Remanufacturing Engineering and Its Development Strategy in China

摘要： proposes that “develop the remanufacturing industry vigorously, implement high-end remanufacturing, smart remanufacturing, and in-service remanufacturing, advance the identification of remanufacturing products, and promote sustainable and healthy development of the manufacturing industry”. Remanufacturing is an extension of the manufacturing industry chain, and it is an important part of advanced manufacturing and green manufacturing. The product function, technical performance, greenness and economy of the remanufacturing products are no worse than those of the new products. The cost of remanufacturing products is only about 50% of new products. Remanufacturing can save energy 60%, and material 70%, so the adverse impact on the environment is significantly reduced. At present, China’s remanufacturing industry is developing rapidly, and the manufacturing pilot has been in full swing. Meanwhile, the policies and regulations, basic theory, key technology, and industry standards of remanufacturing have been continuously innovated and completed.

秦巴山脉区域农业经济绿色发展战略

摘要：

协同推进秦巴山脉区域的生态环境保护与经济产业发展，农业经济绿色发展是关键内容。本文根据秦巴山脉区域绿色循环发展的研究需求，深入分析该区域农业经济的现状，凝练农业经济绿色发展的指导思想和战略目标；从农业发展政策、土地规模化经营、引导人才和资本定向流动、农业产业技术升级、劳动力素质提升、产业融合发展、世界名山品牌树立等方面完整阐述农业经济绿色发展的创新路径；针对性提出保障措施：推动区域发展的共同认识与学术研讨、示范农业经营的规模化/ 品牌化/ 专业化、建立农村产业金融机制、转变地方政府职能、优化基层组织作用、统筹城乡发展空间等。研究建议，设立秦巴山脉区域农业经济绿色经济发展特区，通过生态制度创新引导区域内的社会、经济、生态绿色可持续发展。

美国绿色BIM应用现状及其对中国建设领域的影响分析

摘要：

近年来，绿色BIM（building information modeling）受到美国等发达国家建设领域的广泛关注与重视，多数运用绿色BIM技术的建筑工程项目也获得了能够有效兼顾可持续性与经济性的良好效果。尽管绿色BIM实践中仍存在诸多问题，但绿色BIM已成为建设领域未来发展的必然趋势。笔者基于绿色BIM在美国的应用现状对其在中国建设领域的影响进行了初步分析，分析认为，相较于美国的绿色BIM，中国的绿色BIM起步较晚，技术上也存在巨大差距，在发展过程中，应充分借鉴绿色BIM在美国的成熟实践经验，并结合中国建设领域的特点，形成符合中国国情的绿色BIM操作流程、重视绿色BIM在不同类型建筑工程项目中的运用、重视建筑材料及可再生能源的选择和使用、加强BIM软件及相关技术本土化和政府投入，以有效推动绿色建筑发展、实现节能减排目标。

On water security, sustainability, and the water-food-energy-climate nexus

摘要： The role of water security in sustainable development and in the nexus of water, food, energy and climate interactions is examined from the starting point of the definition of water security offered by Grey and Sadoff. Much about the notion of security has to do with the presumption of scarcity in the resources required to meet human needs. The treatment of scarcity in mainstream economics is in turn examined, therefore, in relation to how each of us as individuals reconciles means with ends, a procedure at the core of the idea of sustainable development. According to the Grey-Sadoff definition, attaining water security amounts to achieving basic, single-sector water development as a precursor of more general, self-sustaining, multi-sectoral development. This is consistent with the way in which water is treated as “first among equals”, i.e. privileged, in thinking about what is key in achieving security around the nexus of water, food, energy and climate. Cities, of course, are locations where demands for these multiple resource-energy flows are increasingly being generated. The paper discusses two important facets of security, i.e., diversity of access to resources and services (such as sanitation) and resilience in the behavior of coupled human-built-natural systems. Eight quasi-operational principles, by which to gauge nexus security with respect to city buildings and infrastructure, are developed.

A perspective of “Nuclear Hot Spring” for long-term sustainable economy of the world

摘要： The rapid growth of human economy in the late 20th century gave rise to great concern over sustainability of the world. A pessimistic “Full World Model” forecasts that human economy could not develop further. The nuclear fission (and fusion later), however, could release huge amount of energy to create sufficient useful material resources and turn the said pessimistic modelinto a new optimistic “Sustainable World Model”.The dilemma of nuclear energy (Military Giant vs. Civil Dwarf) jeopardizes its performance as a “Technologic Fixer”. According to Mother Nature’s teachings, the elimination of the root-causes of the design-based risk factors could solve this problem. Recent technology break-through from inherent safety to natural safety has been made in China. The proposed full-power natural circulation “Nuclear Hot Spring (NHS)” reactor could operate solely on natural forces without complex man-made coolant circulation equipment and human-operated control systems. The cheap, unlimited supply of energy from nuclear energy could change the geopolitics forever, and finally eliminate the root-causes of most international and regional conflicts.

Carbon performance evaluation model from the perspective of circular economy—The case of Chinese thermal

摘要： Carbon emission reduction is the only way to alleviate environmental problems, such as global warming. Effective evaluation of carbon performance can help enterprises to carry out energy saving and emission reduction activities to a certain extent and promote sustainable development. This paper constructs a carbon performance evaluation index system that includes the four dimensions of carbon resource (energy) input, cycle, output, and carbon management by incorporating the principles of circular economy and the theory of resource value circulation from the perspective of the flow trajectory of carbon-containing resources in the circulation of enterprises combined with the production characteristics of thermoelectric enterprises. Subsequently, combined with the case study, this paper discusses the scientific and practical nature of the system and provides another way of thinking for carbon performance evaluation of micro-enterprises in other industries. This paper expands the application boundary of matter–element model and supplements the literature of carbon performance, which has certain theoretical and practical significance.

Exploring the coupling relationship of industrial agglomeration and low-carbon economy considering spatiotemporal

摘要： Although China’s construction machinery thrives to meet the needs of construction, a number of challenges still remain to be overcome, such as lack of thorough knowledge of regional disparities and several limitations in terms of carbon emissions and economic development. Meanwhile, a low-carbon economy was proposed and implemented in China. This research aims to investigate the differences in industrial agglomeration of construction machineries and further explore the relationship between industrial agglomeration and low-carbon economy. On this basis, spatiotemporal analysis was performed to evaluate the levels of industrial agglomeration in different regions based on the situations of China’s construction machinery industry. Furthermore, this study explored the interaction between industrial agglomeration and low-carbon economy utilizing the coupling coordination analysis method. Results showed that the coupling coordination of the two subsystems was extremely unbalanced in 2006, and it maintained an increasing trend, reaching a relatively high level in 2018. Finally, suggestions, such as establishing a policy guarantee system and implementing variable policies in different regions, were proposed to provide guidelines for the government decision-making and promote the sustainable development of China’s construction machinery industry.

An Evaluation Model for the Coordinated Development of a Circular Economy in China and Its Application

摘要： Energy-intensive industries (EIIs) are fundamental to the industrial development of China and are also the key industries of a circular economic infrastructure. It is worth paying attention to the coordinated development of a circular economy using EIIs due to the present interrelationship among EIIs. It is related to the optimization and comprehensive performance improvement of a circular economy. Based on the perspective of order parameter, this study uses economic and environmental subsystems to establish an evaluation model that examines the coordinated development of a circular economy within six main EIIs and an EII cluster from 2006 to 2011 in China. The result shows that the level of coordinated development in a circular economy among six EIIs differs and the level of coordinated development of circular economy among the EII cluster lags behind that of each EII examined. It also shows that the outside coordinated degree of EIIs is lower than the inside coordinated degree of each EII.

The Building of Papermaking Enterprise’s Recycling Economy Evaluation Index System Based on Value Flow

摘要： At present, the research on circular economy has made a lot of substantive results both at home and abroad. But for the papermaking enterprise, which is the representative of the light industry, few studies have analyzed the evaluation index system of circular economy. Since the current material flow analyses have limitations that the researchers cannot calculate materials with different units. The authors take advantage of the intrinsic correlation between the basic principle of value flow analysis and circular economy, and then analyze the dynamic changes of material flow and value flow through enterprises internal production process. Considering the resource output, the authors set up the layered structure of the evaluation index system, and then preliminarily determine the index form. Next, the authors use the frequency statistics analysis method to adjust indicators, forming a preliminary index system. After that, the principal component analysis and independent analysis are applied for screening. Finally, the authors build a circular economy evaluation index system for papermaking enterprise to provide scientific guidance for the process of circular economy.

A methodology for regulating fuel stratification and improving fuel economy of GCI mode via double main-injection

摘要： Gasoline compression ignition (GCI) combustion faces problems such as high maximum pressure rise rate (MPRR) and combustion deterioration at high loads. This paper aims to improve the engine performance of the GCI mode by regulating concentration stratification and promoting fuel-gas mixing by utilizing the double main-injection (DMI) strategy. Two direct injectors simultaneously injected gasoline with an octane number of 82.7 to investigate the energy ratio between the two main-injection and exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) on combustion and emissions. High-load experiments were conducted using the DMI strategy and compared with the single main-injection (SMI) strategy and conventional diesel combustion. The results indicate that the DMI strategy have a great potential to reduce the MPRR and improve the fuel economy of the GCI mode. At a 10 bar indicated mean effective pressure, increasing the main-injection-2 ratio (R_m-2) shortens the injection duration and increases the mean mixing time. Optimized R_m-2 could moderate the trade-off between the MPRR and the indicated specific fuel consumption with both reductions. An appropriate EGR should be adopted considering combustion and emissions. The DMI strategy achieves a highly efficient and stable combustion at high loads, with an indicated thermal efficiency (ITE) greater than 48%, CO and THC emissions at low levels, and MPRR within a reasonable range. Compared with the SMI strategy, the maximum improvement of the ITE is 1.5%, and the maximum reduction of MPRR is 1.5 bar/°CA.
