Carbon Capture and Storage (CCS) is the process of separating and compressing CO2 emitted by coal-fired and gas-fired power plants, chemicals, steel, cement and other facilities, and then transporting it to the geological storage site, and injecting it into depleted oil reservoirs for Enhanced Oil Recovery (EOR) and storage, or injecting it into the deep saline aquifers for storage. Geological storage process also includes atmospheric, shallow surface environmental monitoring, ground geophysics and well monitoring of the injected CO2 to ensure the storage safety and capacity of Measurement, Monitoring and Verification (MMV) system.
