Strategic Study of CAE 2002, Volume 4, Issue 7,   Pages 86-92

Abstract:

A New 3G broadband mobile wireless Internet has been proposed. New 3G system has some specifications of “Beyond IMT - 2000”,but using 3G frequency and inside 3G framework. Fixed telecommunication operator can cut down the cost of feature rich voice and mobile multimedia services, by using existing fixed broadband IP network infrastructure to deploy broadband mobile wireless Internet. This is opportunity for China to lead the trend of broadband mobile wireless Internet in the world.

Atypical manifestations of acute coronary syndrome — throat discomfort: a multi-center observational study

Frontiers of Medicine 2022, Volume 16, Issue 4,   Pages 651-658 doi: 10.1007/s11684-021-0859-0

Abstract: To present the clinical characteristics and the misdiagnosis rate of acute coronary syndrome manifested primarily as throat discomfort, we conducted a multicentric and retrospective study in the cardiology and otorhinolaryngology departments. Records of patients with primary complaint of throat discomfort, absence of chest pain at onset, and an ultimate diagnosis of acute coronary syndrome, as well as patients with pharyngitis (as controls) were collected from May 2015 to April 2016. The patients’ main manifestations were compared. Logistic regression results showed that chest tightness, dyspnea, perspiring, and exertional throat symptoms were significantly associated with acute coronary syndrome, with odds ratios of 8.3 (95% CI 2.2−31.5), 10.9 (95% CI 1.8−66.9), 25.4 (95% CI 3.6−179.9), and 81.2 (95% CI 13.0−506.7). A total of 25 (56.82%) out of 44 acute coronary syndrome patients, who were first admitted to the otorhinolaryngology department, were misdiagnosed, with a 12% (3/25) mortality rate. Throat discomfort can be the principal manifestation of acute coronary syndrome. Such patients exhibit high misdiagnosis and mortality rates. Exertional throat symptoms, chest tightness, perspiring, and dyspnea were important indicators of acute coronary syndrome in patients whose main complaint was throat discomfort. The awareness of this condition will result in prompt diagnosis and reduce morbidity and mortality.

Well-being analysis of GSU transformer insulation incorporating the impact on power generation using fuzzy logic

Alagarsamy KRISHNAVEL, Dusmata Kumar MOHANTA, M. Jaya Bharata REDDY

Frontiers in Energy 2013, Volume 7, Issue 3,   Pages 288-299 doi: 10.1007/s11708-013-0265-7

Abstract: With the prevailing power scenario, every watt-second of electrical energy has its own merit in satisfying the consumer demand. At the state of such a stringent energy demanding era, failure of a power generation equipment compounds the energy constraints which will not only result in a huge loss of generation but also have an impact on capital revenue. The unexpected failure of generator step-up (GSU) transformer is especially a major disturbance in the power system operation and leads to unscheduled outages with power delivery problems. The time lag in bringing back the equipment in service after rectification or replacement may increase the criticality as the process involves mobilization of spares and maintenance professionals. Hot atmosphere existing in the vicinity of thermal power stations running round-the-clock with more than 100% plant load factor (PLF) increases the thermal stress of the electrical insulation which leads to premature failure of windings, bushings, core laminations, etc. The healthy state of the GSU transformer has to be ensured to minimize the loss of power generation. As the predication related to failure of a GSU transformer is associated with some uncertainties, a fuzzy approach is employed in this paper along with actual field data and case studies for the well-being analysis of GSU transformer.

Abstract: As a novel architecture, software-defined networking (SDN) is viewed as the key technology of future networking. The core idea of SDN is to decouple the control plane and the data plane, enabling centralized, flexible, and programmable network control. Although local area networks like data center networks have benefited from SDN, it is still a problem to deploy SDN in wide area networks (WANs) or large-scale networks. Existing works show that multiple controllers are required in WANs with each covering one small SDN domain. However, the problems of SDN domain partition and controller placement should be further addressed. Therefore, we propose the spectral clustering based partition and placement algorithms, by which we can partition a large network into several small SDN domains efficiently and effectively. In our algorithms, the matrix perturbation theory and eigengap are used to discover the stability of SDN domains and decide the optimal number of SDN domains automatically. To evaluate our algorithms, we develop a new experimental framework with the Internet2 topology and other available WAN topologies. The results show the effectiveness of our algorithm for the SDN domain partition and controller placement problems.
