Acid resistance of methanogenic bacteria in a two-stage anaerobic process treating high concentration

ZHOU Xuefei, REN Nanqi

Frontiers of Environmental Science & Engineering 2007, Volume 1, Issue 1,   Pages 53-56 doi: 10.1007/s11783-007-0010-8

Abstract: The acid resistance of granular sludge and methanogenic bacteria and their metabolizing activity wereApparently, these were not the advisable pH levels that common methanogenic bacteria could accept. The methanogenic bacteria of the system, viz.If the methanogenic bacteria were trained further, their acid resistance would be improved somewhat.Granular sludge of the system could protect the methanogenic bacteria within its body against the impact

Effect of 2-butenal manufacture wastewater to methanogenic activity and microbial community

Guangqing Song, Hongbo Xi, Xiumei Sun, Yudong Song, Yuexi Zhou

Frontiers of Environmental Science & Engineering 2018, Volume 12, Issue 5, doi: 10.1007/s11783-018-1056-5

Abstract:

The inhibition ratio sharply increased with the increasing COD.

The absorbance of UV-vis at 420 nm showed a linear correlation with the SMA.

The molecular structure of EPS has changed when COD was 9585 mg/L.

Illumina Miseq sequencing was employed to reveal the microbial composition.

Methanogenic community structure in simultaneous methanogenesis and denitrification granular sludge

Yujiao Sun, Juanjuan Zhao, Lili Chen, Yueqiao Liu, Jiane Zuo

Frontiers of Environmental Science & Engineering 2018, Volume 12, Issue 4, doi: 10.1007/s11783-018-1067-2

Abstract:

• UASB with SMD granules was operated with high removal efficiency of COD and NO3--N.

Methanosaetaceae was absolute predominant methanogen in SMD granules.

• The methanogen quantity and activity decreased as C/N decreased from 20:1 to 5:1.

• Bacterial community succession happened with C/N decreasing.
