Frontiers of Information Technology & Electronic Engineering 2019, Volume 20, Issue 4,   Pages 571-583 doi: 10.1631/FITEE.1800499

Abstract:

Nonlinear oscillators and circuits can be coupled to reach synchronization and consensus. The occurrence of complete synchronization means that all oscillators can maintain the same amplitudeHowever, phase synchronization means that the coupled oscillators just keep pace in oscillation even, and the energy flow of the controller is decreased when synchronization is realized.Cross coupling between different variables just triggers phase synchronization.

Blockchain in energy systems: values, opportunities, and limitations

Frontiers in Energy 2022, Volume 16, Issue 1,   Pages 9-18 doi: 10.1007/s11708-022-0818-8

Abstract: The structure of a power energy system is becoming more distributed than before. It becomes challenging to manage such a system in a centralized way, because a central authority may not exist or may not be trusted by all parties. Blockchain is a promising tool to address this challenge, by enabling trusted collaboration in the absence of a trusted central authority. Its use in the energy sector has been pioneered by several pilot projects. However, to date the energy sector has not seen large-scale deployment of blockchain, partly because the founders of those pilot projects, the public, and utilities have not reached consensus on the values and limitations of blockchain in energy. This perspective aims to bridge this gap. First, the philosophy and unique values of blockchain are discussed. Second, some promising blockchain-based applications in energy systems are presented. Third, some common misunderstandings of blockchain in energy are discussed. Last, some frequently-asked questions from utilities are discussed. Hopefully this perspective can help advance large-scale deployment of blockchain in energy systems.

Synchronization transition of a modular neural network containing subnetworks of different scales Research Article

Frontiers of Information Technology & Electronic Engineering 2023, Volume 24, Issue 10,   Pages 1458-1470 doi: 10.1631/FITEE.2300008

Abstract: Time delay and coupling strength are important factors that affect the of neural networks. In this study, a containing s of different scales was constructed using the ;Huxley (HH) neural model; i.‍e., a small-scale random network was unidirectionally connected to a large-scale small-world network through chemical synapses. Time delays were found to induce multiple transitions in the network. An increase in coupling strength also promoted of the network when the time delay was an integer multiple of the firing period of a single neuron. Considering that time delays at different locations in a modular network may have different effects, we explored the influence of time delays within each and between two s on the of modular networks. We found that when the s were well synchronized internally, an increase in the time delay within both s induced multiple transitions of their own. In addition, the state of the small-scale network affected the of the large-scale network. It was surprising to find that an increase in the time delay between the two s caused the factor of the modular network to vary periodically, but it had essentially no effect on the within the receiving . By analyzing the phase difference between the two s, we found that the mechanism of the periodic variation of the factor of the modular network was the periodic variation of the phase difference. Finally, the generality of the results was demonstrated by investigating modular networks at different scales.

Optimal synchronization control for multi-agent systems with input saturation: a nonzero-sum game Research Article

Hongyang LI, Qinglai WEI

Frontiers of Information Technology & Electronic Engineering 2022, Volume 23, Issue 7,   Pages 1010-1019 doi: 10.1631/FITEE.2200010

Abstract: This paper presents a novel method for with . The multi-agent game theory is introduced to transform the problem into a multi-agent . Then, the Nash equilibrium can be achieved by solving the coupled Hamilton–Jacobi–Bellman (HJB) equations with nonquadratic input energy terms. A novel method is presented to obtain the Nash equilibrium solution without the system models, and the critic neural networks (NNs) and actor NNs are introduced to implement the presented method. Theoretical analysis is provided, which shows that the iterative control laws converge to the Nash equilibrium. Simulation results show the good performance of the presented method.

Frontiers of Information Technology & Electronic Engineering 2022, Volume 23, Issue 7,   Pages 1043-1056 doi: 10.1631/FITEE.2200001

Abstract: This paper studies the multi-agent based problem and its application to cooperative . A systematized formulation and analysis method for the multi-agent is proposed and a methodology based on the (RL) technique is given. First, it is pointed out that typical distributed controllers may not necessarily lead to global Nash equilibrium of the in general cases because of the coupling of networked interactions. Second, to this end, an alternative local Nash solution is derived by defining the best response concept, while the problem is decomposed into local s. An off-policy RL algorithm using neighboring interactive data is constructed to update the controller without requiring a system model, while the stability and robustness properties are proved. Third, to further tackle the dilemma, another configuration is investigated based on modified coupling index functions. The distributed solution can achieve global Nash equilibrium in contrast to the previous case while guaranteeing the stability. An equivalent parallel RL method is constructed corresponding to this Nash solution. Finally, the effectiveness of the learning process and the stability of are illustrated in simulation results.
