Synthesis and electrocatalytic property of cubic and spherical nanoparticles of cobalt platinum alloys

Abstract: This paper describes the morphological control and electrocatalytic property of CoPt nanoparticles. Both cubic and spherical CoPt nanoparticles were made using cobalt carbonyl and platinum 2,4-pentanedionate under different reaction temperatures in the presence of capping reagents, which included adamantanecarboxylic acid and hexadecylamine. Effects of heterogeneous species on shape of the CoPt nanoparticles were examined by replacing cobalt carbonyl with silver acetylacetonate. Our results suggest that the formation of different shapes of CoPt particles could be attributed to the affinity between cobalt and platinum, and the effects of capping agents. The size and shape dependent electrocatalytic properties of these nanoparticles were examined based on the direct methanol oxidation reaction.

Computational design of heterogeneous catalysts and gas separation materials for advanced chemical processing

Abstract: Functional materials are widely used in chemical industry in order to reduce the process cost while simultaneously increase the product quality. Considering their significant effects, systematic methods for the optimal selection and design of materials are essential. The conventional synthesis-and-test method for materials development is inefficient and costly. Additionally, the performance of the resulting materials is usually limited by the designer’s expertise. During the past few decades, computational methods have been significantly developed and they now become a very important tool for the optimal design of functional materials for various chemical processes. This article selectively focuses on two important process functional materials, namely heterogeneous catalyst and gas separation agent. Theoretical methods and representative works for computational screening and design of these materials are reviewed.

A review on the electric vehicle routing problems: Variants and algorithms

Abstract: Over the past decade, electric vehicles (EVs) have been considered in a growing number of models and methods for vehicle routing problems (VRPs). This study presents a comprehensive survey of EV routing problems and their many variants. We only consider the problems in which each vehicle may visit multiple vertices and be recharged during the trip. The related literature can be roughly divided into nine classes: Electric traveling salesman problem, green VRP, electric VRP, mixed electric VRP, electric location routing problem, hybrid electric VRP, electric dial-a-ride problem, electric two-echelon VRP, and electric pickup and delivery problem. For each of these nine classes, we focus on reviewing the settings of problem variants and the algorithms used to obtain their solutions.

Sustainable Supply Model Design of Public Rental Housing —Case Study of Chongqing

Abstract: Public rental housing is an important governmental project. Within the next three years, Chongqing municipal government proposes building 40×10 m of public rental housing to solve the housing problem for 2 million people. Many problems of sustainability have happened in long-term large-scale construction, including gradually-slow renting progress, the shortage of funds, public rental housing community facilities are retrograde, and the selected sites are at the city’s edge. This paper analyzes the Chongqing public rental housing situation from the perspective of sustainable public rental housing supply, putting forward a sustainable supply model that is suitable for Chongqing, and then calculates their portion.

The development and application of genome editing technology in ruminants: a review

Abstract:

Transgenic ruminants are a valuable resource for both animal breeding and biomedical research. The development of transgenic breeding is proceeding slowly, because it suffers from low efficiency of gene transfer and possible safety problems from uncontrolled random integration. However, new breeding methods combined with genome editing and somatic cell nuclear transfer or microinjection can offer an economic and efficient way to produce gene-edited ruminants, which can serve as bioreactors or have improved disease resistance, animal welfare and product quality. Recent advances in precise genome editing technologies, especially clustered regularly interspaced short palindromic repeat (CRISPR)/Cas9 nucleases, are enabling the systematic development of gene-edited ruminant production. This review covers the development of gene-edited ruminants, the particulars of site-specific engineered nucleases and the state of the art and new insights into practical applications and social acceptance of genome editing technology in ruminants. It is concluded that the production of gene-edited ruminants is feasible and through improvements in genome editing technology it is possible to help feed the world.

Theoretical Analysis of Public Rental House Supply

Abstract: The public rental house (PRH) plays a significant role in our housing security system. Using the theory of public goods, both government and private enterprises have advantages and disadvantages in supplying the PRH. In order to optimize the present supply system of the PRH, this article introduces the delivery pattern of public and private partnerships (PPP) into the government allocation system, and improves it into public-intermediary-private-partnerships (PIPP), a new supply system through government, private enterprises and intermediary organization cooperation. It helps to better achieve the security role of the PRH in our society.

Abstract: We investigated phytotoxicity in seven plant species exposed to a range of concentrations (0– 500 mg·kg soil) of di- -butyl phthalate (DnBP) or bis (2-ethylhexyl) phthalate (DEHP), two representative phthalate esters (PAEs) nominated by USEPA as priority pollutants and known environmental estrogens. We studied seed germination, root elongation, seedling growth, biomass (fresh weight, FW) and malondialdehyde (MDA) content of shoots and roots of wheat ( L.), alfalfa ( L.), perennial ryegrass ( ), radish ( L.), cucumber ( L.), oat ( ) and onion ( L.), together with monitoring of plant pigment content (chlorophyll a, b and carotinoids) in alfalfa, radish and onion shoots. Root elongation, seedling growth and biomass of the test species were generally inhibited by DnBP but not by DEHP, indicating a lower level of phytotoxicity of DEHP than of DnBP. MDA contents of four species were promoted by PAE exposure, but not in alfalfa, ryegrass or onion shoots, indicating lower sensitivity of these three species to PAE pollutants. Plant pigment contents were clearly affected under the stress of both pollutants, implying the potential damage to the photosynthetic system of test plants, mainly by decreasing the content of chlorophyll a and b. Results of DnBP and DEHP phytotoxicity to the primary growth of test plants has provided information for the assessment of their environmental risk in the soil and also forms a basis for the further analysis of their toxic effects over the whole growth period of different plant species.

The effect of capping with natural and modified zeolites on the release of phosphorus and organic contaminants from river sediment

Abstract: A microcosm system that included river sediment, water and different zeolite capping materials (natural zeolite, surfactant-modified zeolite (SMZ), or aluminum modified zeolite (AMZ)) was designed to study the effect of capping on the release of phosphorus and three organic pollutants (phenol, pyridine, and pyrene) from the sediment to the overlying water over the course of three month. For the same amount of the three capping materials, the efficiency of phosphorus inactivation was in the order of SMZ>AMZ>natural zeolite. The inactivation of phosphorus was mainly caused by the covering effect, co-precipitation and adsorption by the capping materials. The different zeolites gave different results for the release of phenol, pyridine, and pyrene from the sediment. When natural zeolite was used as the capping material, there was no effect on the release of pyrene and pyridine, whereas capping the sediment with SMZ or AMZ inhibited the release of pyrene and pyridine but to different extents. However, for controlling the release of phenol from the sediment, aluminum modified zeolite was the most efficient material, whereas no effects were observed when natural zeolite or SMZ were used. The different capabilities of the zeolite materials for controlling the release of different organic pollutants are related to the differences in the electrical properties of these pollutants.

Impact and inhibitory mechanism of phenolic compounds on the formation of toxic Maillard reaction products in food

Abstract:

As one of the dominant reactions occurring during thermal treatment of food, the Maillard reaction not only leads to the formation of aroma, browning color and taste compounds, but also contributes to the formation of some unpleasant toxic substances including acrylamide, heterocyclic amines and advanced glycation end products. Polyphenols, one of the most abundant antioxidants in the human diet, are contained in different kinds of foods. In this review, some recent studies on the impact of dietary polyphenols on the formation of acrylamide, heterocyclic amines and advanced glycation end products formed during the Maillard reaction are summarized, including the research work conducted with both chemical model systems and real food model systems; the possible inhibitory mechanisms of different polyphenols are also summarized and discussed in this review. Basically we found that some dietary polyphenols not only scavenge free radicals, but also react with reactive carbonyl species, thus lowering the formation of toxic Maillard reaction products. This review provides a useful theoretical foundation for the application of polyphenols in food safety, and suggests some directions for further study of natural products as inhibitors against the formation of toxic substances in thermally processed food.

Mutation profiling of 16 candidate genes in

Abstract: This retrospective analysis aimed to investigate the mutation profile of 16 common mutated genes in acute myeloid leukemia (AML) patients. A total of 259 patients who were diagnosed of AML were enrolled in this study. Mutation profiling of 16 candidate genes were performed in bone marrow samples by using Sanger sequencing. We identified at least 1 mutation in 199 of the 259 samples (76.8%), and 2 or more mutations in 31.7% of samples. was the most common mutated gene (16.2%, 42/259), followed by (15.1%, 39/259), (14.7%, 38/259), and (13.5%, 35/259). Concurrence was observed in 97.1% of the mutated cases and in 29.6% of the double mutated cases. Distinct patterns of co-occurrence were observed for different hotspot mutations within the gene: mutations were associated with and/or mutations, whereas mutations co-occurred with mutations only. Concurrence was also observed in 86.6% of epigenetic regulation genes, most of which co-occurred with mutations. The results showed certain rules in the mutation profiling and concurrence of AML patients, which was related to the function classification of genes. Defining the mutation spectrum and mutation pattern of AML will contribute to the comprehensive assessment of patients and identification of new therapeutic targets.

Novel interpretable mechanism of neural networks based on network decoupling method

Abstract: The lack of interpretability of the neural network algorithm has become the bottleneck of its wide application. We propose a general mathematical framework, which couples the complex structure of the system with the nonlinear activation function to explore the decoupled dimension reduction method of high-dimensional system and reveal the calculation mechanism of the neural network. We apply our framework to some network models and a real system of the whole neuron map of Caenorhabditis elegans. Result shows that a simple linear mapping relationship exists between network structure and network behavior in the neural network with high-dimensional and nonlinear characteristics. Our simulation and theoretical results fully demonstrate this interesting phenomenon. Our new interpretation mechanism provides not only the potential mathematical calculation principle of neural network but also an effective way to accurately match and predict human brain or animal activities, which can further expand and enrich the interpretable mechanism of artificial neural network in the future.

A composite optimization method for separation parameters of large-eccentricity pico-satellites None

Abstract: A spacecraft’s separation parameters directly affect its flying trace. If the parameters exceed their limits, it will be difficult to adjust the flying attitude of the spacecraft, and the spacescraft may go off-track or crash. In this paper, we present a composite optimization method, which combines angular velocities with external moments for separation parameters of large-eccentricity pico-satellites. By changing the positions of elastic launch devices, the method effectively controls the popping process under the condition of less change in the separation mechanism. Finally, the reasons for deviation of angular velocities and unreliable optimization results are presented and analyzed. This optimization method is proved through a ground test which offsets the gravity. Simulation and test results show that the optimization method can effectively optimize the separation parameters of large-eccentricity pico-satellites. The proposed method adapts particularly to the fixed and non-stable status elastic parameters, the distribution of all kinds of elastic devices, and large-eccentricity spacecrafts for which attitude corrections are difficult. It is generally applicable and easy to operate in practical applications.
