A guide to shortening the time from submission to publication in

Jiao Zhang, Xia Huang, Jiming Hao, John C. Crittenden

Frontiers of Environmental Science & Engineering 2020, Volume 14, Issue 2, doi: 10.1007/s11783-020-1231-3

Abstract: Authors want to publish their work as soon as possible. However, the manuscript processing time increases if the manuscript does not meet the journal requirements. Our analysis of manuscripts submitted to Frontiers of Environmental Science & Engineering from November 2018 to July 2019 shows that the processing time was increased up to 33 days because the manuscripts: (1) had inconsistent formatting of citations, references, and units, (2) exceeded the word limit, (3) were missing information such as the graphical abstract, (4) plagiarized other papers, and (5) had too many tables and figures. Herein, we explain how authors can avoid these issues and decrease the manuscript processing time.

Modular design of typical rigid links in parallel kinematic machines: Classification and topology optimization

Xinjun LIU, Xiang CHEN, Zhidong LI

Frontiers of Mechanical Engineering 2012, Volume 7, Issue 2,   Pages 199-209 doi: 10.1007/s11465-012-0315-6

Abstract:

Due to the demand of reconfigurable system in parallel kinematic machines (PKMs), modular design technology is significant and necessary. However, in earlier research, the core joint modules have been concerned about rather than the customized link modules. The modular design to the typical customized links from the point of seeking optimal structures with best mechanical performances is analyzed and processed in two steps: classification and optimization. Firstly, a brief introduction to the current research status and the aims of this paper are outlined. And then, how the typical customized links classified is proposed. Next, the technology method and the iterative formula derivation process of topology optimization are described in detail. Finally, calculation models for each group of classified ones are set up and their optimal structures are achieved through topology optimization technique. The results provide useful references for reconfigurable and modular design in engineering cases.

A Survey of Tax Risk Detection Using Data Mining Techniques

Qinghua Zheng,Yiming Xu,Huixiang Liu,Bin Shi,Jiaxiang Wang,Bo Dong,

Engineering doi: 10.1016/j.eng.2023.07.014

Abstract: Tax risk behavior causes serious loss of fiscal revenue, damages the country’s public infrastructure, and disturbs the market economic order of fair competition. In recent years, tax risk detection, driven by information technology such as data mining and artificial intelligence, has received extensive attention. To promote the high-quality development of tax risk detection methods, this paper provides the first comprehensive overview and summary of existing tax risk detection methods worldwide. More specifically, it first discusses the causes and negative impacts of tax risk behavior, along with the development of tax risk detection. It then focuses on data-mining-based tax risk detection methods utilized around the world. Based on the different principles employed by the algorithms, existing risk detection methods can be divided into two categories: relationship-based and non-relationship-based. A total of 14 risk detection methods are identified, and each method is thoroughly explored and analyzed. Finally, four major technical bottlenecks of current data-driven tax risk detection methods are analyzed and discussed, including the difficulty of integrating and using fiscal and tax fragmented knowledge, unexplainable risk detection results, the high cost of risk detection algorithms, and the reliance of existing algorithms on labeled information. After investigating these issues, it is concluded that knowledge-guided and data-driven big data knowledge engineering will be the development trend in the field of tax risk in the future; that is, the gradual transition of tax risk detection from informatization to intelligence is the future development direction.

A Project Guide for the Numerical Control Generation Demonstration Project to Promote the Application

Wei Feng,Zhou Yuan and Xue Lan

Strategic Study of CAE 2017, Volume 19, Issue 3,   Pages 45-52 doi: 10.15302/J-SSCAE-2017.03.007

Abstract:

Numerical Control (NC) technology is a key and generic enabling technology to promote the upgrading of mechanical products. Considering the barriers in technology and capital, among others that affect small and medium enterprises (SMEs) and that may lead to market failure and organization failure, there is a serious "Death Valley" phenomenon in the application of generic enabling technology. The working principle of the NC Generation Demonstration Project is to take demand as traction, innovation as driving power, and enterprise as the main body of technological innovation; and then to combine multivariate innovation between industry, universities, academic research, finance, and government, break through at key points, and successfully demonstrate NC generation projects. The NC Generation Demonstration Project applies NC technology to the mechanical products of a typical industry, essentially improving the product performance. In general, it speeds up the overall upgrading of mechanical products and promotes the transformation and upgrading of an enterprise toward sustainable development. In this way, the NC Generation Demonstration Project bridges the gap between generic enabling technology R&D and enterprises’ innovative production. This project has led to some remarkable accomplishments, and is a successful example of the application of generic enabling technology. The NC Generation Demonstration Project provides a helpful reference and establishes a solid foundation for the further implementation of the comprehensive popularization of NC technology in various industries and regions.
