Strategic Study of CAE 2023, Volume 25, Issue 3, Pages 109-121 doi: 10.15302/J-SSCAE-2023.03.010
Seafloor instability and secondary submarine geohazards are widely present in the ocean, posing a threat to submarine infrastructures such as coastal port facilities, offshore drilling platforms, and submarine pipelines and fiber-optic cables. However, formation mechanisms and controlling factors of seafloor instability are still poorly understood. To improve the understanding, based on the history and development of seafloor instability, this study sorts out the common categories, global distribution, and geophysical characteristics, analyzes the formation mechanisms, controlling factors, and engineering geohazards risks, and summarizes popular quantitative analysis methods for seafloor instability. Subsequently, the application and limitations of experimental simulation technology for the slope instability process are discussed. Focused on the disaster mechanism, intelligent analysis of multi-source data, and three-dimensional monitoring of seabed instability, this study proposed the development direction and countermeasures of future seafloor instability research, aiming to provide guiding suggestions for the simulation, prediction, and warning of seafloor instability.

Through the study on structure, this paper systematically analysed various factors affecting stability of emulsion explosives, and drew a conclusion that zero osmosis pressure might be a good criterion of its stability. The experimental results show that the osmosis pressures of several kinds of stable emulsion explosive are near zero.

Strategic Study of CAE 2014, Volume 16, Issue 3, Pages 50-58
With the increase of span length, the cable-stayed bridge tends to be a more slender structural system, and consequently the wind stability becomes an important problem for its design and construction. Three-dimensional nonlinear aerostatic and aerodynamic stability analysis of long-span bridges is used to investigate the aerostatic and aerodynamic stability of a super long- span cable- stayed bridge with main span of1400m,and the results are compared with those of a suspension bridge with the similar main span, and considering from the aspect of wind stability, the availability of using the cable- stayed bridge in super long- span bridges whose main span exceeds1000m is discussed. In addition, parametric analysis on the aerostatic and aerodynamic stability of super long-span cable-stayed bridges is conducted including the depthand width of the girder, structure style of the tower, the tower’s height-to-spanratio,the ratio of side span to main span, the auxiliary piers in the side span and the anchorage system of stay cables etc,and the key design parameters are pointed out,and also their reasonable values are proposed. The results show that as compared to the suspension bridge with the same main span, the cable- stayed bridge has greater structural stiffness, and becomes more stable under the static and dynamic wind action, and consequently becomes a favorable structural system for super long- span bridges whose main span exceeds1000m;the super long- span cable- stayed bridge becomes more aerostatically and aerodynamically stable under the cases that the girder depth is increased, the girder width is decreased, the inverse Y-shaped tower is used, the tower’s height is increased, the side span is shortened, the auxiliary piers are installed in side span and the stayed cables are partially earth-anchored.

It is an extended discussion on the stir kinetic energy conservation law, which is proposed by OuYang Shoucheng. The authors think that stir kinetic energy conservation law is an important principle and analysis method for stability and evolutionism of systems. It is not only an approach for explaining stability of system, but also the analysis method for evolutionism of system, and it points out some problems in Newton's theories as well.

Improvement of the robustness of superhydrophobic surface is crucial for the purpose of achieving commercial applications of these surfaces in such various areas as self-cleaning,water repellency and corrosion resistance. We have investigated a fabrication of polyvinyl alcohol(PVA)/silica(SiO2)composite polymer coating on wooden substrates with super repellency toward water, low sliding angles, low contact angle hysteresis, and relatively better mechanical robustness.

Adaptive neuro-fuzzy inference system combines the interpretability of fuzzy reasoning and the ability of adaptability and self-learning of neural network, overcoming the enormous difficulties for slope stability analysis caused by the uncertainty of rock slope. At the same time, for the reasonable of parameter setting in fuzzy inference system, evaluation model of adaptive neuro-fuzzy inference based on genetic algorithm is established. It was shown that the results of GA-ANFIS model are consistent with field condition, which makes it be an effective method for slope stability evaluation.

Based on the chassis of a car, a multi-body dynamics model was built with ADAMS software. With the objective evaluation index for maneuverability of vehicle, ADAMS function was built to evaluate vehicle maneuverability. Orthogonal optimization design was applied to optimizing vehicle maneuverability with ADAMS software. The applying virtual prototyping technology for vehicle maneuverability and structure orthogonal optimization not only increases accuracy of simulation model compared with lumped-mass model, but also finds the main factors influencing the vehicle maneuverability and gets the optimization levels of the influence factors. The design process can be used in industrial organization.

Strategic Study of CAE 2005, Volume 7, Issue 4, Pages 54-58
The vehicles always undertake different loadings including external disturbances and the design of vehicle control system has model errors. The primary design techniques for 4WS controller are their inability to degrade the performance of closed-loop systems. The design of yaw rate tracking control system architecture by using μ synthesis robust control is presented and the weighting functions are selected. The results show that the control system has fine dynamic characteristic, robust stability and robust performance, and the 4WS vehicle with the proposed control strategy can provide greater maneuverability and driving safety.

Study on the Crustal Stability in Three-Gorges Area of the Yangtze River

Strategic Study of CAE 2004, Volume 6, Issue 6, Pages 26-34
The Three-Gorges Dam on the Yangtze River is situated on the intact rock mass composed of diorite-granite at the southern termination of the Huangling block. The Huangling block as a sub-plate having double-layer structure (crystalline basement and sedimentary cover) in China continent keeps constant and slow uplifting as a whole since its formation in the Indosinian movement. Tectonic deformation within the block is not significant, with exception of a slight southeastward tilting. The block is confined by many active structures, of which the sub-longitudinal Yuan*an and Xiannushan deep fault zones are the main strongly seismogenic zones. The Yuan´an fault zone represents a regional boundary between West Henan, West Hubei and West Hunan mountainous regions as well as the Nanyang, Jianghan and Dongting Lake basins, with a total length of more than 1000 km. Two times M 6.5 earthquakes (the Changde and the Nanyang earthquakes) had occurred in the fault zone in historic time and the distance between the two epicenters is about 500 km. The Xiannushan fault one extends along the Xiangxi River northward and ends at the Qingfeng fault. It runs southward across Yuyangguan Pass and then its trace is unknown. Total length of the fault zone is more than 220 km. The fault zone has tectonic condition for occurrence of M 6 earthquake. The possible seismic risk for the dam may come from these two strong seismogenic zones, thus the seismic intensity influencing the dam was estimated to be 6°〜7° and the horizontal peak acceleration to be 0.1〜0.15 g.

Engineering 2017, Volume 3, Issue 4, Pages 504-511 doi: 10.1016/J.ENG.2017.04.010
The stability of pump-turbines is of great importance to the operation of pumped storage power (PSP) stations. Both hydraulic instabilities and operational instabilities have been reported in PSP stations in China. In order to provide a reference to the engineers and scientists working on pump-turbines, this paper summarizes the hydraulic instabilities and performance characteristics that promote the operational instabilities encountered in pump-turbine operations in China. Definitions, analytical methods, numerical and experimental studies, and main results are clarified. Precautions and countermeasures are also provided based on a literature review. The gaps between present studies and the need for engineering practice are pointed out.
