Strategic Study of CAE 2013, Volume 15, Issue 4, Pages 96-101
Optimal selection of dam type is a complicated decision-making problem. It needs not only the experienced experts familiar with practical engineering, but also objective decision analysis technology. Comprehensively analyzing various factors affecting the rockfill dam type selection, a hierarchical structure model is established. Considering the defects of AHP method and Entropy method in confirming weight, the two methods are combined together to calculate integrated weight. Then this model is solved using TOPSIS method. Finally the optimum scheme of dam type is obtained. The practical application shows that this method is easy and the results are reliable. It can provide support for making decisions in optimal selection of rockfill dam type.

Based on grey system theory and fuzzy theory, uncertain decision making problems and several relative articles were studied, then points out the advantage and shortage of them when dealing with grey fuzzy set were pointed out. In this paper, using optimization theory and the maximum entropy formulism, a method for multi-attribute group decision making based on the theory of grey fuzzy relation is established. Furthermore, two practical algorithms are given, in which attribute weights are known or unknown respectively. Finally, an example demonstrates the validity of this method.

Maximum entropy principle is imported into the basic complex method in order to improve the ratio of successful run. A new search idea is presented as follows: firstly the search optimum design point is defined as the design point whose entropy is the biggest among all the design points of the complex and a new better design point is found on the line through the search optimum design point and the integrated centroid of the remaining design points. A new complex is generated after the search optimum design point is replaced with the new better design point. The method iterates until the information of the complex is utilized thoroughly thereby proposing a new complex method. The basic complex method and the complex method based on maximum entropy principle are used to locate the critical failure surface with the minimum factor of safety of two non-homogeneous soil slopes and the comparisons of the results suggest that the ability of the complex method based on maximum entropy principle to find global optimum is stronger than that of the basic complex method.

Driven by the concept of agricultural sustainable development, crop planting structure optimization (CPSO) has become an effective measure to reduce regional crop water demand, ensure food security, and protect the environment. However, traditional optimization of crop planting structures often ignores the impact on regional food supply-demand relations and interprovincial food trading. Therefore, using a system analysis concept and taking virtual water output as the connecting point, this study proposes a theoretical CPSO framework based on a multi-aspect and full-scale evaluation index system. To this end, a water footprint (WF) simulation module denoted as soil and water assessment tool-water footprint (SWAT-WF) is constructed to simulate the amount and components of regional crop WFs. A multi-objective spatial CPSO model with the objectives of maximizing the regional economic water productivity (EWP), minimizing the blue water dependency (BWFrate), and minimizing the grey water footprint (GWFgrey) is established to achieve an optimal planting layout. Considering various benefits, a full-scale evaluation index system based on region, province, and country scales is constructed. Through an entropy weight technique for order preference by similarity to an ideal solution (TOPSIS) comprehensive evaluation model, the optimal plan is selected from a variety of CPSO plans. The proposed framework is then verified through a case study of the upper-middle reaches of the Heihe River Basin in Gansu province, China. By combining the theory of virtual water trading with system analysis, the optimal planting structure is found. While sacrificing reasonable regional economic benefits, the optimization of the planting structure significantly improves the regional water resource benefits and ecological benefits at different scales.

On the basis of the hypothesis that the existing relevant knowledge influences the formation of the new knowledge, this thesis sets up the maximum entropy fundamental model of the stochastic prosess of knowledge innovation by applying the probability & statistics theory, the optimization theory and the maximum entropy principle comprehensively, and puts forward the conditional probability P(y|x) of the new knowledge y∈Y which is restrained by the existing knowledge x∈X. This model posesses such character that the randomness and the causality are unity of opposites

This paper describes the cross research field among management, decision theory and information science——engineering management entropy research. Firstly, the necessity and scientificity are discussed. Then its theoretical basis, methods and models are explained. Especially, the complex entropy decision making method, group decision making entropy model and multivariate coupled decision-making entropy method are described. Finally, the engineering management application cases are given, which prove that the proposed engineering management decision model based on entropy can effectively solve some key decision-making problems in practical engineering management.

The segmentation of moving and non-moving regions in an image within the field of crowd analysis is a crucial process in terms of understanding crowd behavior. In many studies, similar movements were segmented according to the location, adjacency to each other, direction, and average speed. However, these segments may not in turn indicate the same types of behavior in each region. The purpose of this study is to better understand crowd behavior by locally measuring the degree of interaction/complexity within the segment. For this purpose, the flow of motion in the image is primarily represented as a series of trajectories. The image is divided into hexagonal cells and the finite time braid entropy (FTBE) values are calculated according to the different projection angles of each cell. These values depend on the complexity of the spiral structure that the trajectories generated throughout the movement and show the degree of interaction among pedestrians. In this study, behaviors of different complexities determined in segments are pictured as similar movements on the whole. This study has been tested on 49 different video sequences from the UCF and CUHK databases.

Strategic Study of CAE 2004, Volume 6, Issue 9, Pages 38-45
In this paper, the novel robust maximum entropy clustering algorithm RMEC, as the improved version of the maximum entropy algorithm MEC, is presented to overcome its drawbacks: very sensitive to outliers and uneasy to label them. With the introduction of Vapnik's ε-insensitive loss function and the new weight factors, the new objective function is re-constructed, and consequently, its new update rules are derived according to the Lagrangian optimization theory. Compared with algorithm MEC, the main contributions of algorithm RMEC exist in its much better robustness for outliers and the fact that it can effectively label outliers in the dataset using the obtained weight factors. The experimental results demonstrate its superior performance in enhancing the robustness and labeling outliers in the dataset.

The fractal-dimension theory and the Shannom entropy theory of nonlinear science are briefly described, and the methods to apply them to analyze AF's information are developed. The grid-dimension values and the Shannom entropy values of P-wave and those of f-wave are computed. The comparison of the remarkable difference between values of these two kinds of waves is given so as to easily determine whether AF happens or not.

The impropriety industrial production mode is one of the main causes of environmental pollution. From thermodynamics, this paper analyses the entropy essential of the pollution of industrial production. On the basis of this, a dynamic equilibrium entropy flow model is set up to measure the infection of industrial production to the environment. Taking three production modes for example, the entropy increase quantity is calculated by using the model and the environmental effect trends can be educed. It can provide decision-making basis for choice of sustainable production mode.
