认识世界、理解世界、改变世界，是科技服务人类社会进步的三个阶段，密不可分，阶梯前进。当今时代，工程科技是推动人类进步的发动机，是产业革命、经济发展、社会进步的有力杠杆。在新一轮科技革命和产业变革大潮中，工程科技创新正在给各个产业、行业发展注入新生机、新活力，给人类带来更好的生活、更多的福祉。

2015年，中国工程院创办综合性工程类学术期刊《Engineering》。相同也不同，《Nature》《Science》的宗旨是认识世界、理解世界，《Engineering》更加关注于报道全球工程科学技术的重大进步和突破，尤其关注能够推动技术进步、产业发展，能够应对人类面临的挑战，能够改变人类生活的具有重大经济、社会意义和世界先进水平的工程科技原创性成果。2018年，《Engineering》取得了第一个影响因子——2.667，成功进入SCIQ1区。

回首过去，《Engineering》的创刊得到了世界各国工程科学院的大力支持，《Engineering》的成长凝结了广大作者、读者的闪光智慧，《Engineering》的发展浸透着全球工程科学技术界的涔涔汗水。在此，谨向关心和支持《Engineering》的机构、作者、学者、读者表示衷心的感谢！
