Experimental study on the efficacy of Fuganling granula on protecting against immunological hepatic injury

Yanli LIU, Rong LIU, Cheng ZHEN, Quanfang GUO, Liping WU, Zhaoxi DING, Yushun BI, Zhiyu LIU

Frontiers of Medicine 2009, Volume 3, Issue 1,   Pages 91-95 doi: 10.1007/s11684-009-0011-z

Abstract: To study the efficacy of Fuganling granula (FGL, 复肝灵颗粒) in treating mouse immunological hepatic injury that was caused by Bacille Calmette Guerin (BCG) and lipopolysaccharide (LPS), a total of 60 mice were adopted, among which, 50 mice were given intraperitoneal injection with BCG and LPS to establish an immunological liver injury model and then were randomly divided into 5 groups (10 mice/group): 4 groups received treatment of FGL orally at the doses of 100 mg/kg (high-dosage), 50 mg/kg (middle-dosage), 25 mg/kg (low-dosage) and bifendate orally at the dose of 80 mg/kg, respectively. One group was treated with distilled water orally. The remaining 10 mice were given distilled water intraperitoneally as the normal control group. The indices of thymus, liver and spleen, and the activities of the alanine aminotransferase (ALT), aspartate aminotransferase (AST) in the serum were detected. Compared to the normal rat, the model group’s thymus index decreased significantly. The liver index and spleen index increased significantly. The activities of serum ALT and AST increased significantly (all < 0.01). Compared to the model control group, the group treated with FGL in high-dosage, middle-dosage or low-dosage can decrease the activities of ALT and AST and the group treated with FGL in high-dosage and middle-dosage can increase the thymus index significantly ( < 0.01). This experiment established the immunological liver injury model successfully and found that FGL has a remarkably protective effect on this kind of immunological hepatic injury.

A no Tillage Cultivation System with High Yield and Environment-protecting Functions

Chen Guoping

Strategic Study of CAE 2000, Volume 2, Issue 1,   Pages 87-89

Abstract:

Two environment problems that disturbed China have been the sand-storm climate in the spring of northern China and the soil deposition of Yellow River. The key solution depends on the soil-water protection of Huangtu plateau. The plateau keeps poorly forestry and plants. Its climate gets drier. The traditional cultivation system increases the water evaporation and inhibits the full seedling growth, which results in the low and unstable yield.

The no tillage system and mulches with crop stalks can highly preserve the rainfall in summer and autumn of last year, increasing the seedling growth rate yield (17〜40) % . The surface soil can be protected from wind erosion, while in rainy summer, the soil can greatly absorb water and slow down the land surface streams and prevent the soil from being taken into the river.

The water-soil preservation of Huangtu plateau includes the efforts from various department and provinces. It calls for the chairmanship of the council of the state and different department as well as different provinces to spread the no tillage system and solve the problems encountered.

Technology of cleaning and protecting corrosion for metal structures in large-scale non-grid-connected

Wu Hao,Zou Yizhe and Bai Ke

Strategic Study of CAE 2015, Volume 17, Issue 3,   Pages 41-44

Abstract:

The equipments of large-scale non-grid-connected wind power should be cleaned and properly treated to protect corrosion as pretreatment and make preparations for painting later. It is necessary, especially for metal structures. In this paper, the methods of cleaning, rinsing and treating metal parts would be studied. And some products would be introduced to clean and protect the parts.

Frontiers of Medicine 2020, Volume 14, Issue 2,   Pages 229-231 doi: 10.1007/s11684-020-0765-x

Abstract: The outbreak of a novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19, caused by the 2019-nCoV infection) in December 2019 is one of the most severe public health emergencies since the founding of People’s Republic of China in 1949. Healthcare personnel (HCP) nationwide are facing heavy workloads and high risk of infection, especially those who care for patients at the epicenter of the outbreak, Hubei Province. Sadly, as of February 20, 2020, over two thousand COVID-19 cases are confirmed among HCP from 476 hospitals nationwide, with nearly 90% of them from Hubei Province. Based on literature search and interviews with some HCP working at Wuhan, capital city of Hubei, we have summarized some of the effective measures taken to reduce infection among HCP, and also made suggestions for improving occupational safety during an infectious disease outbreak. The experience and lessons learned should be a valuable asset for international health community to contain the ongoing COVID-19 epidemic around the world.

Application of Spartina alterniflora on Blow-fill-construct Sea Wall Engineering

Cao Dazheng,Wang Yinsheng,Zhang Dongran,Gu Lijun,Tang Tinggui

Strategic Study of CAE 2005, Volume 7, Issue 7,   Pages 14-23

Abstract:

Spartina alterniflora Loisel was used to protect slopes in sea wall engineering, which replaced the traditional protection model of sea wall by large area of claybank. Because the stems can prevent sea wave and the root systems can strengthen the dyke, significant effects was got on slowing the current, eliminating the sea wave and immobilizing the soil. As an important component of blow - fill-construct sea wall engineering, erosion of tide and stormy waves on sea wall water-meeting slope was effectively prevented or alleviated and safety of sea wall was guaranteel by using Spartina alterniflora to protect slopes. Significant engineering, economical and ecological benefits were obtained.
