Pulse control of frequency and width for a real-time independently adjustable laser source Research Articles

Zhiwei Yang, Xu Wu, Deqin Ouyang, Encheng Zhang, Huibin Sun, Shuangchen Ruan,wuxu@sztu.edu.cn,scruan@szu.edu.cn

Frontiers of Information Technology & Electronic Engineering 2021, Volume 22, Issue 10,   Pages 1379-1389 doi: 10.1631/FITEE.2000294

Abstract: A set of semiconductor laser pulse seed sources based on an embedded chip is proposed. The greatest feature is that the optical pulse frequency and width can be independently adjusted in real time. The pulse seed sources can be switched independently and online from the gain-switched mode to the quasi-continuous wave mode to obtain optimal optical parameters for specific applications. To explore the physical mechanism of the semiconductor laser source, the rate equation that describes the carrier-photon transient change in a semiconductor laser cavity is numerically derived and solved. Subsequently, problems that need to be considered while designing the drive circuit are identified. The system evaluation indicates that the optical pulse frequency adjustment range is 250 Hz to 42 MHz, and the narrowest optical pulse output width is 80 ps. The pulse seed source can drive semiconductor lasers with different central wavelengths (1064, 1550, and 1970 nm), and can also simultaneously drive two semiconductor lasers and output dual-band optical pulses. It can be used as a seed source for general high-power optical systems, and exhibits good application value and extensive market prospects.

Frontiers of Information Technology & Electronic Engineering 2019, Volume 20, Issue 9,   Pages 1221-1233 doi: 10.1631/FITEE.1800155

Abstract: In this paper, we deal with both velocity control and force control of a single-rod electro-hydraulic actuator subject to external disturbances and parameter uncertainties. In some implementations, both velocity control and force control are required. Impedance control and an extended disturbance observer are combined to solve this issue. Impedance control is applied to regulate the dynamic relationship between the velocity and output force of the actuator, which can help avoid impact and keep a proper contact force on the environment or workpieces. Parameters of impedance rules are regulated by a fuzzy algorithm. An extended disturbance observer is employed to account for external disturbances and parameter uncertainties to achieve an accurate velocity tracking. A detailed model of load force dynamics is presented for the development of the extended disturbance observer. The stability of the whole system is analyzed. Experimental results demonstrate that the proposed control strategy has not only a high velocity tracking performance, but also a good force adjustment performance, and that it should be widely applied in construction and assembly.

Lu Hongli,Jia Lei,Wang Lei,Gao Rui

Strategic Study of CAE 2006, Volume 8, Issue 9,   Pages 65-68

Abstract:

In HVAC systems, there exist severe nonlinearity, time-varying nature, disturbances and uncertainty. A novel predictive functional control strategy based on Takagi-Sugeno fuzzy model was developed in order to settie the difficulty to control HVAC systems. The T - S fuzzy model of controlled process was obtained using the least squares method, then basing on the fuzzy T - S global linear predictive model, the process was controlled by the predictive functional control strategy. Finally, the simulation results in HVAC systems control application showed that the proposed fuzzy model predictive functional control approach improves tracking effect and robustness. Compared with the conventional PID control approaches, this FPFC approach has better dynamical performance such as less overshoot and shorter regulation time, etc.

Frontiers of Information Technology & Electronic Engineering 2022, Volume 23, Issue 12,   Pages 1828-1847 doi: 10.1631/FITEE.2200237

Abstract: The (SSA) is a recent meta-heuristic optimization approach with the advantages of simplicity and flexibility. However, SSA still faces challenges of premature convergence and imbalance between exploration and exploitation, especially when tackling multimodal . Aiming to deal with the above problems, we propose an enhanced variant of SSA called the multi-strategy enhanced (MSSSA) in this paper. First, a chaotic map is introduced to obtain a high-quality initial population for SSA, and the opposition-based learning strategy is employed to increase the population diversity. Then, an is designed to accommodate an adequate balance between exploration and exploitation. Finally, a is embedded in the individual update stage to avoid falling into local optima. To validate the effectiveness of the proposed MSSSA, a large number of experiments are implemented, including 40 complex functions from the IEEE CEC2014 and IEEE CEC2019 test suites and 10 classical functions with different dimensions. Experimental results show that the MSSSA achieves competitive performance compared with several state-of-the-art optimization algorithms. The proposed MSSSA is also successfully applied to solve two engineering . The results demonstrate the superiority of the MSSSA in addressing practical problems.

Wu Aiguo,Du Chunyan,Song Xiaoqiang

Strategic Study of CAE 2004, Volume 6, Issue 11,   Pages 84-87

Abstract:

On the basis of analyzing characteristics of the central air-conditioning system, a fuzzy controller with self-optimizing parameters is proposed and applied into the temperature control of the system. To deal with the non-linearity, time delay and time variation of the controlled system, a method for optimizing the weighting factor a and the output scaling gain Ku is adopted in the applied rule-adjustable fuzzy controller. The experimental result indicates that the optimization method enhances the robustness of the fuzzy controller. As the temperature of the cooling water and the temperature of the circumstances change, the controller maintains satisfactory performance.

Safety and Rapid Construction Technology in Expand Cutting at Existing Line with Controlled Rock Blasting for Electrified Railway

He Guangyi,Jing Shan,Wang Zhaoyou

Strategic Study of CAE 2000, Volume 2, Issue 6,   Pages 73-79

Abstract:

The blasting conditions, topography and geology of rock blasting for expanding cutting at the existing line of electrified railway are more complicated and difficult than that of rock blasting or foundation demolishing blast in cities. The engineering quantity is larger, too. As there has electrify overhead contact line and short space to the existing line, it is much more difficult than blasting for expanding cutting at non-electrified railway. The paper introduces the practicable technology adopted in the light of the features of expanding the cutting for electrified railway existing line in order to attain the purpose of safety and rapid construction.

Frontiers of Information Technology & Electronic Engineering 2019, Volume 20, Issue 9,   Pages 1289-1295 doi: 10.1631/FITEE.1800167

Abstract: Bistable electrowetting display (EWD) is a promising low-power electronic paper technology, where power is consumed only during the switching between two stable states; however, it is not required for state maintenance once switched. In this paper, a bistable electrowetting device with non-planar designed controlling electrodes is fabricated by a fully conventional photolithography process. The device has potential for video display applications with a controllable gray scale. The novel electrode design realizes a lower driving voltage and a higher contrast between two stable states than the EWDs with planar electrodes reported previously.

Posture control of a 3-RPS pneumatic parallel platform with parameter initialization and an adaptive robustmethod Article

Guo-liang TAO,Ce SHANG,De-yuan MENG,Chao-chao ZHOU

Frontiers of Information Technology & Electronic Engineering 2017, Volume 18, Issue 3,   Pages 303-316 doi: 10.1631/FITEE.1500353

Abstract: A control algorithm for a 3-RPS parallel platform driven by pneumatic cylinders is discussed. All cylinders are controlled by proportional directional valves while the kinematic and dynamic properties of the system are modeled. The method of adaptive robust control is applied to the controller using a back-stepping approach and online parameter estimation. To compensate for the uncertainty and the influence caused by estimations, a fast dynamic compensator is integrated in the controller design. To prevent any influence caused by the load applied to the moving platform changing in a practical working situation, the identification of parameters is taken as the initialization of unknown parameters in the controller, which can improve the adaptability of the algorithm. Using these methods, the response rate of the parameter estimation and control performance were improved significantly. The adverse effects of load and restriction forces were eliminated by the initialization and online estimation. Experiments under different situations illustrated the effectiveness of the adaptive robust controller with parameter initialization, approaching average tracking errors of less than 1%.

A new auxiliary information based cumulative sum median control chart for location monitoring Regular Papers

Frontiers of Information Technology & Electronic Engineering 2019, Volume 20, Issue 4,   Pages 554-570 doi: 10.1631/FITEE.1700428

Abstract:

Control charts are commonly used tools in statistical process control for the detection of shifts in process parameters. Shewhart-type charts are efficient for large shift values, whereas cumulative sum (CUSUM) charts are effective in detecting medium and small shifts. Control chart use commonly assumes that data are free of outliers and parameters are known or correctly estimated based on an in-control process. In practice, these assumptions are not often true because some processes occasionally have outliers. Monitoring the location parameter is usually based on mean charts, which are seriously affected by violations of these assumptions. In this paper we propose several CUSUM median control charts based on auxiliary variables, and offer comparisons with their corresponding mean control charts. To monitor the location parameter, we examined the performance of mean and median control charts in the presence and absence of outliers. Both symmetric and non-symmetric processes were studied to examine the properties of the proposed control charts to monitor the location parameter using CUSUM control charts. We used different run length measures to study in-control and out-of-control performances of CUSUM charts. Results revealed that our proposed control charts perform much better than the traditional charts in the presence of outliers. A real application of our study was provided using data on concrete compressive strength as it relates to the quality of cement manufacturing.

Adaptive robust neural control of a two-manipulator system holding a rigid object with inaccurate base frame parameters Research

Fan XU, Jin WANG, Guo-dong LU

Frontiers of Information Technology & Electronic Engineering 2018, Volume 19, Issue 11,   Pages 1316-1327 doi: 10.1631/FITEE.1601707

Abstract:

The problem of self-tuning control with a two-manipulator system holding a rigid object in the presence of inaccurate translational base frame parameters is addressed. An adaptive robust neural controller is proposed to cope with inaccurate translational base frame parameters, internal force, modeling uncertainties, joint friction, and external disturbances. A radial basis function neural network is adopted for all kinds of dynamical estimation, including undesired internal force. To validate the effectiveness of the proposed approach, together with simulation studies and analysis, the position tracking errors are shown to asymptotically converge to zero, and the internal force can be maintained in a steady range. Using an adaptive engine, this approach permits accurate online calibration of the relative translational base frame parameters of the involved manipulators. Specialized robust compensation is established for global stability. Using a Lyapunov approach, the controller is proved robust in the face of inaccurate base frame parameters and the aforementioned uncertainties.

Strategic Study of CAE 2016, Volume 18, Issue 6,   Pages 110-116 doi: 10.15302/J-SSCAE-2016.06.022

Abstract:

The "Numerical Control (NC) Generation Innovation Project" aims to apply NC technology to the mechanical products of all industries to update and upgrade the overall installed base of manufacturing equipment, thus promoting upgrading of the industrial base. This paper takes the update and upgrade of NC equipment in Quanzhou city as a case study. Focusing on practical experience with the NC Generation Innovation Project within the framework of innovation governance, it discusses a new generation of "organized innovation" generated by the collaboration of multiple innovation participants. Through analysis and on the basis of strong demand pull from the user market and effective technology push from R&D agencies, the NC Generation Innovation Project, by playing a "skillful deflection" role, has enabled the government to kick-start extensive market resource investment with a small amount of policy resources, to mobilize the enthusiasm of multiple innovation participants such as enterprises, R&D institutions, intermediaries, and financial institutions and to organize many manufacturing enterprises in different industries. Using the principles of the market economy, these enterprises overcame all kinds of obstacles, actively accepting key generic technology. The result is a successful example of promoting generic technology diffusion in manufacturing industries. At the same time, this project has found existing insufficiencies in the course of summarizing the existing successful experience and has provided a decision-making basis for advancing of a broad-based manufacturing industry upgrade.
