Statement on Journal Title and Brand Rights of Engineering


Engineering (ISSN: 2095-8099, CN 10-1244/N) is the flagship journal of the Chinese Academy of Engineering (CAE), supervised by CAE, co-organized by the Center for Strategic Studies, CAE and Higher Education Press, and published by China Engineering Science Press Co., Ltd. and Elsevier. It holds a strong academic reputation and influence in the field of engineering science and technology globally. To protect the rights of readers and authors and safeguard the journal's reputation, brand image, and intellectual property, the following statement is issued.

I. Statement on Journal Brand Rights

1. Name and Intellectual Property Protection

(1) The journal name is protected under the Civil Code of the People's Republic of China. No organization or individual may use the name Engineering or similar names (e.g., "Engineering Journal," "ENG Journal," etc.) for academic activities, commercial promotions, or fraudulent submission platforms without written authorization.

(2) The journal's visual logo, domain names (https://www.journals.elsevier.com/engineering, https://www.engineering.org.cn/engi/EN/2095-8099/home.shtml), and visual designs are protected under the Trademark LawCopyright LawAnti-Unfair Competition Law, and other relevant laws of China. Unauthorized reproduction, modification, dissemination, or use in derivative products is strictly prohibited, and violators will bear legal liability.

2. Submission and Publishing Standards

(1) The only official submission system is the Editorial Manager platform (https://www.editorialmanager.com/eng/default.aspx). No third-party agencies are authorized to collect manuscripts or fees.

(2) All manuscripts must undergo rigorous peer review. Any claims of "fast-track publication" or "pay-to-publish" are fraudulent and unauthorized.

II. Definition of Infringement

The following actions constitute infringement of Engineering's rights:

(1) Impersonating the journal’s name or logo to create fake websites, social media accounts, or submission email addresses.

(2) Unauthorized use of the journal’s name to organize conferences, solicit papers, or collect fees.

(3) Imitating the journal’s visual design or using similar domain names in publications or promotional materials.

(4) Unauthorized reproduction or distribution of the journal’s published content in whole or in part, in electronic or print formats.

(5) Exceeding authorized use of the journal’s brand.

(6) Any other actions that infringe upon the journal’s legal rights.

III. Legal Accountability and Reporting Channels

1.The journal will take the following actions against infringements:

(1) Demand immediate cessation of infringement, public clarification, apology, elimination of adverse effects, and compensation.

(2) Report to the Cyberspace Administration, market regulators, and online platforms for content removal, blocking, or disconnection.

(3) Pursue civil compensation, administrative penalties, or criminal liability in accordance with applicable laws.
