Firefly algorithm with division of roles for complex optimal scheduling Research Articles

Jia Zhao, Wenping Chen, Renbin Xiao, Jun Ye,zhaojia925@163.com,chen_9731@163.com,rbxiao@hust.edu.cn,yejun68@sina.com

Frontiers of Information Technology & Electronic Engineering 2021, Volume 22, Issue 10,   Pages 1311-1333 doi: 10.1631/FITEE.2000691

Abstract: A single strategy used in the cannot effectively solve the complex problem. Thus, we propose the FA with (DRFA). Herein, fireflies are divided into leaders, developers, and followers, while a learning strategy is assigned to each role: the leader chooses the greedy ; the developer chooses two leaders randomly and uses the strategy for local development; the follower randomly selects two excellent particles for global exploration. To improve the efficiency of the fixed step size used in FA, a stepped variable step size strategy is proposed to meet different requirements of the algorithm for the step size at different stages. Role division can balance the development and exploration ability of the algorithm. The use of multiple strategies can greatly improve the versatility of the algorithm for complex optimization problems. The optimal performance of the proposed algorithm has been verified by three sets of test functions and a simulation of of cascade reservoirs.

Genomic Mutations within the Host Microbiome: Adaptive Evolution or Purifying Selection Review

Jiachao Zhang,Rob Knight,

Engineering 2023, Volume 20, Issue 1,   Pages 96-102 doi: 10.1016/j.eng.2021.11.018

Abstract:

Next-generation sequencing technology has transformed our ability to assess the taxonomic composition functions of host-associated microbiota and microbiomes. More human microbiome research projects—particularly those that explore genomic mutations within the microbiome—will be launched in the next decade. This review focuses on the coevolution of microbes within a microbiome, which shapes strain-level diversity both within and between host species. We also explore the correlation between microbial genomic mutations and common metabolic diseases, and the adaptive evolution of pathogens and probiotics during invasion and colonization. Finally, we discuss advances in methods and algorithms for annotating and analyzing microbial genomic mutations.

A multi-functional dynamic state estimator for error validation: measurement and parameter errors and sudden load changes Article

Mehdi AHMADI JIRDEHI,Reza HEMMATI,Vahid ABBASI,Hedayat SABOORI

Frontiers of Information Technology & Electronic Engineering 2016, Volume 17, Issue 11,   Pages 1218-1227 doi: 10.1631/FITEE.1500301

Abstract: We propose a new and efficient algorithm to detect, identify, and correct measurement errors and branch parameter errors of power systems. A dynamic state estimation algorithm is used based on the Kalman filter theory. The proposed algorithm also successfully detects and identifies sudden load changes in power systems. The method uses three normalized vectors to process errors at each sampling time: normalized measurement residual, normalized Lagrange multiplier, and normalized innovation vector. An IEEE 14-bus test system was used to verify and demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed method. Numerical results are presented and discussed to show the accuracy of the method.

S. Aashiq Banu, Rengarajan Amirtharajan,aashiqbanu@sastra.ac.in,amir@ece.sastra.edu

Frontiers of Information Technology & Electronic Engineering 2021, Volume 22, Issue 7,   Pages 940-956 doi: 10.1631/FITEE.2000071

Abstract: Healthcare and telemedicine industries are relying on technology that is connected to the Internet. Digital health data are more prone to cyber attacks because of the treasure trove of personal data they possess. This necessitates protection of digital medical images and their secure transmission. In this paper, an encryption technique based on mutated with Lorenz and Lü is employed to generate high pseudo-random key streams. The proposed chaos- cryptic system operates on the integer wavelet transform (IWT) domain and a bio-inspired , unit for enhancing the confusion and diffusion phase in an approximation coefficient. Finally, an XOR operation is performed with a quantised chaotic set from the developed combined attractors. The algorithm attains an average entropy of 7.9973, near-zero correlation with an NPCR of 99.642%, a UACI of 33.438%, and a keyspace of 10. Further, the experimental analyses and NIST statistical test suite have been designed such that the proposed technique has the potency to withstand any statistical, differential, and brute force attacks.

Precise Orbit Determination for the FY-3C Satellite Using Onboard BDS and GPS Observations from 2013, 2015, and 2017 Article

Xingxing Li , Keke Zhang, Xiangguang Meng, Wei Zhang, Qian Zhang, Xiaohong Zhang, Xin Li

Engineering 2020, Volume 6, Issue 8,   Pages 904-912 doi: 10.1016/j.eng.2019.09.001

Abstract:

Using the FengYun-3C (FY-3C) onboard BeiDou Navigation Satellite System (BDS) and Global Positioning System (GPS) data from 2013 to 2017, this study investigates the performance and contribution of BDS to precise orbit determination (POD) for a low-Earth orbit (LEO). The overlap comparison result indicates that code bias correction of BDS can improve the POD accuracy by 12.4%. The multi-year averaged one-dimensional (1D) root mean square (RMS) of the overlapping orbit differences (OODs) for the GPS-only solution is 2.0, 1.7, and 1.5 cm, respectively, during the 2013, 2015, and 2017 periods. The 1D RMS for the BDS-only solution is 150.9, 115.0, and 47.4 cm, respectively, during the 2013, 2015, and 2017 periods, which is much worse than the GPS-only solution due to the regional system of BDS and the few BDS channels of the FY-3C receiver. For the BDS and GPS combined solution (also known as the GC combined solution), the averaged 1D RMS is 2.5, 2.3, and 1.6 cm, respectively, in 2013, 2015, and 2017, while the GC combined POD presents a significant accuracy improvement after the exclusion of geostationary Earth orbit (GEO) satellites. The main reason for the improvement seen after this exclusion is the unfavorable satellite tracking geometry and poor orbit accuracy of GEO satellites. The accuracy of BDS-only and GC combined solutions have gradually improved from 2013 to 2017, thanks to improvements in the accuracy of International GNSS Service (IGS) orbit and clock products in recent years, especially the availability of a high-frequency satellite clock product (30 s sampling interval) since 2015. Moreover, the GC POD (without GEO) was able to achieve slightly better accuracy than the GPS-only POD in 2017, indicating that the fusion of BDS and GPS observations can improve the accuracy of LEO POD. GC combined POD can significantly improve the reliability of LEO POD, simply due to system redundancy. An increased contribution of BDS to LEO POD can be expected with the launch of more BDS satellites and with further improvements in the accuracy of BDS satellite products in the near future.

Quantum coding genetic algorithm based on frog leaping

Xu Bo,Peng Zhiping,Yu Jianping and Ke Wende

Strategic Study of CAE 2014, Volume 16, Issue 3,   Pages 108-112

Abstract:

The determinations of the rotation phase of quantum gates and mutation probability are the two main issues that restrict the efficiency of quantum genetic algorithm. This paper presents a quantum real coding genetic algorithm(QRGA). QRGA used an adaptive means to adjust the direction and the size of the rotation angle of quantum rotation gate. In order to ensure the direction of evolution and population diversity, the mutation probability is guided based on the step of frog leaping algorithm which quantified by fuzzy logic. Comparative experimental results show that the algorithm can avoid falling into part optimal solution and astringe to the global optimum solution quickly, which has achieved good results in the running time and performance of the solution.

Estimation of the Impact of Traveler Information Apps on Urban Air Quality Improvement Article

Wenke Huang, Mingwei Hu

Engineering 2018, Volume 4, Issue 2,   Pages 224-229 doi: 10.1016/j.eng.2018.03.003

Abstract:

With the rapid growth of vehicle population and vehicle miles traveled, automobile emission has become a severe issue in the metropolitan cities of China. There are policies that concentrate on the management of emission sources. However, improving the operation of the transportation system through apps on mobile devices, especially navigation apps, may have a unique role in promoting urban air quality. Real-time traveler information can not only help travelers avoid traffic congestion, but also advise them to adjust their departure time, mode, or route, or even to cancel trips. Will such changes in personal travel patterns have a significant impact in decreasing emissions? If so, to what extent will they impact urban air quality? The aim of this study is to determine how urban traffic emission is affected by the use of navigation apps. With this work, we attempt to answer the question of whether the real-time traffic information provided by navigation apps can help to improve urban air quality. Some of these findings may provide references for the formulation of urban traffic and environmental policies.
