Correlation analysis of couple optical paths for micro stereovision with stereo light microscope

摘要: A micro stereovision system with a stereo light microscope (SLM) has been applied in micromanipulation systems. There is a coupling connection between two optical paths of a stereo light microscope. The coupling intension corresponds with two factors: the structure of an SLM and the position of an object point in the view of an SLM. In this paper, a correlation function is proposed to describe the coupling intension between the couple optical paths of an SLM. The quantified results are applied to the error analysis of the imaging model. Experiments show that the correlation of the optical paths of a common main objective of stereo light microscope (CMO-SLM) is little more than that of a G-SLM, and the error must be considered when a pinhole imaging model is used to analyze its correlation.

Size effects in two-dimensional layered materials modeled by couple stress elasticity

摘要: In the present study, the effect of material microstructure on the mechanical response of a two-dimensional elastic layer perfectly bonded to a substrate is examined under surface loadings. In the current model, the substrate is treated as an elastic half plane as opposed to a rigid base, and this enables its applications in practical cases when the modulus of the layer (e.g., the coating material) and substrate (e.g., the coated surface) are comparable. The material microstructure is modeled using the generalized continuum theory of couple stress elasticity. The boundary value problems are formulated in terms of the displacement field and solved in an analytical manner via the Fourier transform and stiffness matrix method. The results demonstrate the capability of the present continuum theory to efficiently model the size-dependency of the response of the material when the external and internal length scales are comparable. Furthermore, the results indicated that the material mismatch and substrate stiffness play a crucial role in the predicted elastic field. Specifically, the study also addresses significant discrepancy of the response for the case of a layer resting on a rigid substrate.

Calculation of prestressed anchor segment by 3D infinite element

摘要: Based on 1D infinite element theory, the coordinate transformation and shape function of 3D point-radiation 4-node infinite elements were derived. They were coupled with 8-node finite elements to compute the compressive deformation of the prestressed anchor segment. The results indicate that when the prestressed force acts on the anchor segment, the stresses and displacements in the rock around the anchor segment are concentrated in the zone center with the anchor axis and are subjected to exponential decay. Therefore, the stresses and the displacement spindles are formed. The calculation results of the infinite element are close to the theoretical results.
