Biotechnological Strategies of Riboflavin Biosynthesis in Microbes Review

Jia-Rong Zhang, Ying-Ying Ge, Pin-He Liu, Ding-Tao Wu, Hong-Yan Liu, Hua-Bin Li, Harold Corke, Ren-You Gan

Engineering 2022, Volume 12, Issue 5,   Pages 115-127 doi: 10.1016/j.eng.2021.03.018

Abstract:

Riboflavin is an essential micronutrient for humans and must be obtained exogenously from foods or supplements. Numerous studies have suggested a major role of riboflavin in the prevention and treatment of various diseases. There are mainly three strategies for riboflavin synthesis, including total chemical synthesis, chemical semi-synthesis, and microbial fermentation, the latter being currently the most promising strategy. In recent years, flavinogenic microbes have attracted increasing attention. Fungi, including Eremothecium ashbyii and Ashbya gossypii, and bacteria, including Bacillus subtilis, Escherichia coli, and lactic acid bacteria, are ideal cell factories for riboflavin overproduction. Thus they are good candidates for enhancing the level of riboflavin in fermented foods or designing novel riboflavin bio-enriched foods with improved nutritional value and/or beneficial properties for human health. This review briefly describes the role of riboflavin in human health and the historical process of its industrial production, and then highlights riboflavin biosynthesis in bacteria and fungi, and finally summarizes the strategies for riboflavin overproduction based on both the optimization of fermentation conditions and the development of riboflavin-overproducing strains via chemical mutagenesis and metabolic engineering. Overall, this review provides an updated understanding of riboflavin biosynthesis and can promote the research and development of fermented food products rich in riboflavin.

Three-dimensional face point cloud hole-filling algorithm based on binocular stereo matching and a B-spline Research Articles

Yuan HUANG, Feipeng DA,whhbb@163.com

Frontiers of Information Technology & Electronic Engineering 2022, Volume 23, Issue 3,   Pages 398-408 doi: 10.1631/FITEE.2000508

Abstract: When obtaining three-dimensional (3D) face point cloud data based on structured light, factors related to the environment, occlusion, and illumination intensity lead to holes in the collected data, which affect subsequent recognition. In this study, we propose a hole-filling method based on stereo-matching technology combined with a . The algorithm uses phase information acquired during raster projection to locate holes in the point cloud, simultaneously extracting boundary point cloud sets. By registering the face point cloud data using the stereo-matching algorithm and the data collected using the raster projection method, some supplementary information points can be obtained at the holes. The shape of the curve can then be roughly described by a few key points, and the control points are put into the hole area as key points for iterative calculation of surface reconstruction. Simulations using smooth ceramic cups and human face models showed that our model can accurately reproduce details and accurately restore complex shapes on the test surfaces. Simulation results indicated the robustness of the method, which is able to fill holes on complex areas such as the inner side of the nose without a prior model. This approach also effectively supplements the hole information, and the patched point cloud is closer to the original data. This method could be used across a wide range of applications requiring accurate facial recognition.

Frontiers of Medicine 2010, Volume 4, Issue 2,   Pages 225-228 doi: 10.1007/s11684-010-0003-z

Abstract: phosphoinositide 3-kinase (PI3K) inhibitor (LY294002), and BK+ Akt inhibitor to evaluate the expression of B2signaling molecules MAPK, Akt, and PI3K by Western blot. (1) BK markedly up-regulated the expression of B2receptor in VSMC. (2) Apigenin, PD98059, Akt inhibitor, and LY294002 inhibited up-regulation of B2 receptorinduced by BK. (3) Signal transduction pathways of MAPK and PI3K were involved in the up-regulation of B2Results suggest that bradykinin can up-regulate the expression of B2 receptor in VSMCs.
