Xinxin Shang, Linguang Guo, Huanian Zhang, Dengwang Li, Qingyang Yue,huanian_zhang@163.com,qingyangyue@sdnu.edu.cn

Frontiers of Information Technology & Electronic Engineering 2021, Volume 22, Issue 5,   Pages 615-766 doi: 10.1631/FITEE.2000341

Abstract: In this study, (TiS) polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) film-type (SA) is synthesized with a modulation depth of 5.08% and a saturable intensity of 10.62 MW/cm by liquid-phase exfoliation and spin-coating methods. Since TiS-based SA has a strong nonlinear saturable absorption property, two types of optical soliton were observed in a mode-locked Er-doped . When the pump power was raised to 67.3 mW, a conventional mode-locked pulse train with a repetition rate of 1.716 MHz and a pulse width of 6.57 ps was generated, and the output spectrum centered at 1556.98 nm and 0.466 nm spectral width with obvious Kelly sidebands was obtained. Another type of mode-locked pulse train with the maximum output power of 3.92 mW and pulse energy of 2.28 nJ at the pump power of 517.2 mW was achieved when the polarization controllers were adjusted. Since TiS-based SA has excellent nonlinear saturable absorption characteristics, broad applications in ultrafast photonic are expected.

Frontiers of Information Technology & Electronic Engineering 2021, Volume 22, Issue 3,   Pages 287-436 doi: 10.1631/FITEE.2000387

Abstract: Indium selenide (InSe) is a typical layered metal-chalcogenide semiconductor that has potential for developing ultrafast optoelectronic devices. In this work, InSe-polyvinyl alcohol (InSe-PVA) film is employed as saturable absorber and prepared by mixing InSe solution and polyvinyl alcohol solution. The nonlinear absorption properties of the InSe saturable absorber (InSe-SA) are investigated, showing that the nonsaturable absorption and modulation depth are 37.5% and 9.55%, respectively. lasers are generated in erbium-doped fiber (EDF) laser-employed InSe as a mode-locker. The central wavelength and pulse duration of the pulse are 1568.73 nm and 2.06 ps, respectively, under a repetition rate of 1.731 MHz. The maximum average output power is 16.4 mW at the pump power of 413 mW. To the best of our knowledge, this is the first demonstration of a pulse with InSe as a mode-locker. The experimental results further demonstrate that InSe is an outstanding nonlinear absorption material in ultrafast .

Pinghua Tang, Mulin Luo, Ting Zhao, Yuliang Mao,pinghuatang@xtu.edu.cn,1011773923@qq.com,zthaza@126.com,ylmao@xtu.edu.cn

Frontiers of Information Technology & Electronic Engineering 2021, Volume 22, Issue 3,   Pages 287-436 doi: 10.1631/FITEE.2000372

Abstract: We demonstrate the generation of noise-like pulses (NLPs) and soliton rains in a saturable absorber mode-locked erbium-doped fiber laser. Typical NLPs are obtained at a proper pump power and in a cavity polarization state. The soliton rain operation with multiple solitons can be achieved by finely adjusting the cavity polarization state. In addition, distinctive multi-soliton interactions are observed and investigated, including the fundamental mode-locking and multiple pulses. The experimental results can help further understand nonlinear pulse dynamics in ultrafast optics.

The Round-metal-resonator CO2 Laser with Spiral Flow

Li Zaiguang,Gong Wei

Strategic Study of CAE 2001, Volume 3, Issue 1,   Pages 58-61

Abstract:

The transverse flow, coaxial flow and diffusion cooling are the current types of high power CO2 laser for industrial applications. A new CO2 laser is being developed. Its round resonator consists of a number of equally-spaced and coaxially-mounted metal cavity units. Each unit has several channels for gas flow and discharge. The discharge ignited at the interface of the flow channel and the cavity is blown into the cavity, where the particles are excited and gain forms. The electrode structure, metal wall action on the active medium cooling, and the gain distribution have been studied. It is shown that the multi-channel blown-in discharge, intercavity spiral flow and adjacent unit rotating certain angle facilitate the circular uniformity of gain distribution. As a result, a new CO2 laser with high beam quality and compactness can be obtained.

Frontiers of Information Technology & Electronic Engineering 2021, Volume 22, Issue 3,   Pages 287-436 doi: 10.1631/FITEE.2000033

Abstract: We built a Tm:Ho co-doped fiber laser using a TiC material as a saturable absorber (SA). The formation of s (VSs) and s (NLPs) was observed. The SA was prepared by dripping a TiC solution on a side-polished D-shaped fiber and then naturally vaporized. The VS is characterized by two coexisting sets of Kelly sidebands. By modulating the polarization controller in the fiber laser, NLPs with about 3.3 nm bandwidth can be switched from the VS. To the best of our knowledge, this is the first time that VSs have been generated in a fiber laser using a TiC material as the SA.

A New Two_dimensional Linear Discriminant Analysis Algori thmBased on Fuzzy Set Theory

Zheng Yujie,Yang Jingyu,Wu Xiaojun, Li Yongzhi

Strategic Study of CAE 2007, Volume 9, Issue 2,   Pages 49-53

Abstract:

2DLDA algorithm is based on2D matrices and overleaps the step of transforming the matrices into the corresponding vectors, which is done on conventional LDA algorithm. However, performance of recognition rate may always be degraded by the overlapping(outlier)samples et al in the field of pattern recognition. How to avoid these shortcomings and extract optimal features to improve the performance of recognition is a key step. In this paper,a new2DLDA algorithm, named fuzzy2DLDA,is proposed.Fuzzy k-nearest neighbour(FKNN) is implemented first to achieve the distribution information of original samples represented with fuzzy membership degrees and is incorporated into the process of feature extraction. The proposed algorithm inherits the virtue of conventional2DLDA and suppresses the shortcoming resulted by overlappin g(outlier)samples et al. Experimental results on AT&T face database demonstrate rec ognition rates of the proposed algorithm outperform that of conventional2DLDA and fisherface.

Several New Semiconductor Lasers and Status, Challenges and Insights of Related Industries

Wei Xin, Li Ming, Li Jian, Wang Chao, Li Chuanchuan

Strategic Study of CAE 2020, Volume 22, Issue 3,   Pages 21-28 doi: 10.15302/J-SSCAE-2020.03.004

Abstract:

As the basis of the whole laser industry, the semiconductor laser industry is not only large-scaled but also has strong radiation and driving capacities. The semiconductor lasers are widely used in industrial, military, and living consumption fields such as optical communication, optical information processing, novel manufacturing, laser display, and biological and medical sensing. To adapt to the gradually expanding application range and satisfy the new requirements of different application scenarios, various new mechanisms, concepts, and structures have been introduced into the semiconductor laser industry through interdisciplinary penetration, greatly optimizing the wavelength coverage, beam quality, device volume, power consumption, modulation speed, and output power of the semiconductor lasers. This paper introduces several rapidly developed new semiconductor lasers by comparing their physical connotation, structural design, and preparation methods. Considering the current development status of related industries in China, we suggest that the development of the semiconductor laser industry should be closely combined with industrial application. The performance of the semiconductor lasers should be optimized in a closed-loop manner relying on the market capacity and the strong systematic development ability in China to promote the key technologies. New principles, structures, and processes should be continually introduced into this industry through interdisciplinary integration. Meanwhile, using the policy-oriented advantages in China, we suggest to increase investment in vertical external cavity surface emitting lasers, micro-nano lasers, and topological insulator lasers and conduct mass production and controllable production, thus to seize the leading position in international competition in the related fields.

Study on Diode-pumped Solid-state Laser with High Pulsed Repetition Rate

Zhou Shouhuan,Jiang Dongsheng

Strategic Study of CAE 2000, Volume 2, Issue 1,   Pages 53-56

Abstract:

The experimental results were reported on diode-pumped solid state laser with 1 kHz high pulsed repetition rate: 43 mj of single output pulse energy, lower order mode, 43% of light-light conversion efficiency. For diode end pumping, it is quite easy to obtain high efficiency and high output beam quality, the cooling configuration of laser media is simple, too. With fine design, the thermal effect induced by moderate power could be within control.

Based on rate equation analysis, the influences of various characters on output performance were discussed and the optimum experimental parameters were studied, such as the focal size of pump light. In general, the smaller focal size, the lower pumping power threshold. But the output laser power was not maximum. The optimum focal size should be determined according to the actual output laser power.

Construction of an Unusual Two-Dimensional Layered Structure for Fused-Ring Energetic Materials with High Energy and Good Stability Article

Yongan Feng, Mucong Deng, Siwei Song, Sitong Chen, Qinghua Zhang, Jean’ne M. Shreeve

Engineering 2020, Volume 6, Issue 9,   Pages 1006-1012 doi: 10.1016/j.eng.2020.01.013

Abstract:

The creation of high-performance energetic materials with good mechanical sensitivities has been a great challenge over the past decades, since such materials have huge amounts of energy and are thus essentially unstable. Here, we report on a promising fused-ring energetic material with an unusual twodimensional (2D) structure, 4-nitro-7-azido-pyrazol-[3,4-d]-1,2,3 triazine-2-oxide (NAPTO), whose unique 2D structure has been confirmed by single-crystal X-ray diffraction. Experimental studies show that this novel energetic compound has remarkably high energy (detonation velocity D = 9.12 km∙s−1; detonation pressure P = 35.1 GPa), excellent sensitivities toward external stimuli (impact sensitivity IS = 18 J; friction sensitivity FS = 325 N; electrostatic discharge sensitivity EDS = 0.32 J) and a high thermal decomposition temperature (203.2 °C), thus possessing the dual advantages of high energy and low mechanical sensitivities. To our knowledge, NAPTO is the first fused-ring energetic material with 2D layered crystal stacking. The stabilization mechanism toward external stimuli were investigated using molecular simulations, and the theoretical calculation results demonstrate that the ultraflat 2D layered structure can buffer external mechanical stimuli more effectively than other structures by converting the mechanical energy acting on the material into layer sliding and compression. Our study reveals the great promise of the fused-ring 2D layered structure for creating advanced energetic materials.

Optoelectronic Crystals, All-Solid-State Lasers and their Applications——An Important Course of Optoelectronics R & D

Xu Zuyan

Strategic Study of CAE 1999, Volume 1, Issue 2,   Pages 72-77

Abstract:

The age of optoelectronics is the consequence of rapid evolution and mutual integration of the fields of micro-electronics, laser technology and material science. The appearance of optical fibers and laser diodes in the 1960s, one major contribution of optoelectronic technology to information industry, has led to the advent of optoelectronic communications. In the 1990s, great advances in optoelectronic crystals and breakthroughs in laser diode technology have made all-solid-state lasers a practical realization. As a consequence, this will enable optoelectronics to make its further contribution to more national pillar industries in the first half of the next century, in various aspects like material processing in advanced manufacturing, optical storage in information technology, laser displays in entertainment, laser fusion power station, nuclear fission material processing, upgrading of laser weapons, etc.
