Frontiers of Information Technology & Electronic Engineering 2023, Volume 24, Issue 11,   Pages 1513-1519 doi: 10.1631/FITEE.2300537

Abstract: The emergence of large language models (LLMs), represented by ChatGPT, has had a profound impact on various fields, including software engineering, and has also aroused widespread concerns. To see a right way through the fog, we have recently been discussing and contemplating a theme of “software development in the age of LLMs,” or rather “the capability of LLMs in software development,” based on various technical literature, shared experiences, and our own preliminary explorations. Additionally, I have participated in several online interviews and discussions on the theme, which have triggered further insights and reflections. Based on the aforementioned thinking and discussions, this article has been composed to disseminate information and foster an open discussion within the academic community. LLMs still largely remain a black box, and the technology is still rapidly iterating and evolving. Moreover, the existing cases reported by practitioners and our own practical experiences with LLM-based software development are relatively limited. Therefore, many of the insights and reflections in this article may not be accurate, and they may be constantly refreshed as technology and practice continue to develop.

Strategic Study of CAE 2022, Volume 24, Issue 2,   Pages 86-95 doi: 10.15302/J-SSCAE-2022.02.010

Abstract:

The industrial software industry is an important support for the high-quality development of the manufacturing industry. Against the background of strengthening China’s manufacturing industry in the new era, industrial software is becoming a direct driving force for optimizing manufacturing and management processes, transforming production methods and relations, improving total-factor productivity, and promoting the spillover and transformation of advanced industrial technologies. China is currently building an independent, controllable, safe, and efficient modern industrial system, which not only challenges the original “technology– production–market” division of labor, but also creates important opportunities for the development of the industrial software industry. Considering the current international market structure, this paper analyzes the basic characteristics and market share of industrial software products, analyzes the shortcomings and problems of China’s industrial software industry development, and summarizes two new development trends of the industrial software industry: platform-based and open source development. Based on this, we propose the following three development paths: (1) improving weak links while strengthening basic research, (2) making technical breakthroughs to catch up with the international advanced level, and (3) leading the development with frontier technologies, hoping to address the industrial deficiencies and improve the industrial level. Furthermore, we propose several suggestions. First, the organizational model should be optimized to maximize the leading role of industrial enterprises. Second, the policy objects should be refined to promote the breakthrough of key technologies regarding industrial software at different levels. Third, the application market needs to be expanded to promote the innovation of industrial software products. Fourth, it is necessary to tap the potentials of talents and support the cultivation of industrial software talents through multiple channels.

Abstract:

As the integration of information technology and agricultural development accelerates, the agricultural software industry has emerged to support the development of smart agriculture. In this article, we first analyze the development status of and challenges faced by China’s agricultural software industry by analyzing the development strategies of the industry in China and abroad and using literature review and survey data. Subsequently, we propose the strategic goals, major engineering projects, and policy measures for the development of China’s agricultural software industry. China’s agricultural software industry has a large gap with other countries in terms of technology development and promotion, enterprise operation, and user accumulation. The major challenges include difficulty in development, weak innovation capabilities, low return on investment, and insufficient protection of intellectual property rights, restricting the growth of China’s agricultural software industry. China should regard the software development of agricultural technologies as the main line and focus on strengthening the innovative capabilities of its agricultural software industry by 2035. The major engineering projects we proposed involve agricultural enabling software and platform development, precision agriculture management software application promotion, agricultural software industry cluster establishment, and agricultural software enterprise cultivation. Furthermore, China should improve its policy support system, strengthen the overall coordination mechanism, optimize the discipline system, and strengthen talent training for the agricultural software industry.

Strategic Study of CAE 2016, Volume 18, Issue 6,   Pages 74-78 doi: 10.15302/J-SSCAE-2016.06.015

Abstract:

With the development of the Internet, the process of computer software globalization continues to push forward. For widely used software, anidentical binary code is installed on millions of computers; sometimes even hundreds of millions. This makes widespread exploitation easy and attractive for an attacker because the same attack vector is likely to succeed on a large number of targets. Traditional software security methods can only counter the threat temporarily, and cannot eliminate essential vulnerabilities. This paper proposes a scheme of combining software diversity with mimic defense in the software security industry.

Abstract: To provide ubiquitous Internet access under the explosive increase of applications and data traffic, the current network architecture has become highly heterogeneous and complex, making network management a challenging task. To this end, software-defined networking (SDN) has been proposed as a promising solution. In the SDN architecture, the control plane and the data plane are decoupled, and the network infrastructures are abstracted and managed by a centralized controller. With SDN, efficient and flexible network control can be achieved, which potentially enhances network performance. To harvest the benefits of SDN in wireless networks, the software-defined wireless network (SDWN) architecture has been recently considered. In this paper, we first analyze the applications of SDN to different types of wireless networks. We then discuss several important technical aspects of performance enhancement in SDN-based wireless networks. Finally, we present possible future research directions of SDWN.

Abstract:

Nowadays, cyberspace has become a vital part of social infrastructure. With the rapid development of the scale of networks, applications and services have become enriched, and the bearing function of the underlying network devices (such as switches and routers) has also been extended. To promote the dynamics architecture, high-level security, and high quality of service of the network, control network architecture forward separation is a development trend of the networking technology. Currently, software-defined networking (SDN) is one of the most popular and promising technologies. In SDN, high-level strategies are deployed by the proprietary equipment, which is used to guide the data forwarding of the network equipment. This can reduce many complicated functions of the network equipment and improve the flexibility and operability of the implementation and deployment of new network technologies and protocols. However, this novel networking technology faces novel challenges in term of architecture and security. The aim of this study is to offer a comprehensive review of the state-of-the-art research on novel advances of programmable SDN, and to highlight what has been investigated and what remains to be addressed, particularly, in terms of architecture and security.

Research on Multi-level Software Rejuvenationof Computing System

You Jing,Xu Jian,Li Qianmu, Liu Fengyu

Strategic Study of CAE 2007, Volume 9, Issue 2,   Pages 36-37

Abstract:

Recently, the phenomenon of software aging, one in which error conditions actually accrue with time and/or load, has been observed. To counteract software aging, which can cause outages resulting in high costs,a proactive restart technique called software rejuvenation is proposed and the rejuvenation cost is analyzed. In order to reduce the rejuvenation cost and improve software availability and reliability further, rejuvenation granularity should be finer than before. Therefore a fine-grained proactive technique——multilevel software rejuvenation is put forward. Firstly, the degradation law of system performance can be determined by analyzing the occupation and wastage of system resources. Based on the law and the software architecture, the two software rejuvenation policies, i.e. time-based multilevel software rejuvenation policy and detection-based multilevel software rejuvenation policy, can be drafted, and the rejuvenation granularity can be determined. Their formal description of policies is given by finite-state automaton. Finally, the entire process is illustrated with a web service case. This paper provides a case to illustrate the process, and the simulation results of the case show that the multilevel software rejuvenation policy can reduce the MTTR and rejuvenation cost further, comparing with the only system-level software rejuvenation. As a consequence, the system availability and reliability are enhanced.

Abstract:

A fault-tolerant system experiences a crash due to hardware components' faults or progressive performance degradation as an "aging"  phenomenon,  because of running continuously for very long periods.  This paper considers both hardware components' faults and "aging"  phenomenon, proposes composing redundant structure and rejuvenation schedule in the fault-tolerant system, formalizes the system with Non-Markovian stochastic Petri nets,  and evaluates quantitatively the performance of a system based on this model.
