Abstract

The achievements of the optically pumped XeF(C-A) laser technology in Northwest Institute of Nuclear Technology have been summarized. An optically pumped XeF(C-A) laser with 0.1~1 Hz pulse-repetition mode is developed. The maximum output energy is up to 18.7 J, which corresponds to the conversion efficiency of the stored electrical energy to the laser output energy of 0.25 %. To our knowledge, it is the first report on a photolytically pumped XeF(C-A) laser with repetition mode and the conversion efficiency is the highest. The structure of the optical pumping source with sectioned surface discharge and the device of the mixture gases generator are described. The latest development of the high repetition rate optical pumping source and compressing laser spectrum linewidth are discussed. The maximum pulse repetition rate of the new optical pumping source is up to 90 Hz. The XeF(C-A) laser spectrum linewidth is compressed less than 1 nm.
