Strategic Study of CAE 2022, Volume 24, Issue 2,   Pages 56-63 doi: 10.15302/J-SSCAE-2022.02.026

Abstract:

Intelligent manufacturing is crucial for constructing a powerful manufacturing country. As China’s intelligent manufacturing enters a comprehensive promotion stage, the scientific evaluation of intelligent manufacturing becomes a practical demand. This paper provides a systematic survey on the intelligent manufacturing evaluation theories in recent years. The evaluation index systems of intelligent manufacturing are classified and summarized from three perspectives, that is, key technology, overall system, and specific sector. Furthermore, the methods commonly used in intelligent manufacturing evaluation are compared and analyzed. This paper also investigates the major problems regarding intelligent manufacturing evaluation and discusses the future research directions of the field. Currently, there are deficiencies in the standards, processes, index system, and application of intelligent manufacturing evaluation. It is necessary to improve the evaluation paradigm, evaluation system, and new technology integration, so as to promote the research of intelligent manufacturing evaluation theories and guide the development of intelligent manufacturing. Specifically, China should improve the standards design to establish an intelligent manufacturing evaluation paradigm, optimize the index system to enrich the key evaluation content, strengthen the integration of new technologies, and promote the synergy of theory and practice.

Strategic Study of CAE 2000, Volume 2, Issue 9,   Pages 50-64

Abstract:

Knowledge has been very important wealth to the mankind but there has not a knowledge theory existed yet till the present time. An attempt is thus made in the paper to present a framework of knowledge theory that includes two parts: fundamentals and the main body of knowledge theory. The first part is to deal with a series of basic issues such as the related concepts and definitions, the methods of representation, the measurements, the reasoning and decision rules. The second part is to explore the mechanism of knowledge formation based on information processing and the mechanism of intelligence formation based on the activation of knowledge. It is believed that the establishment of the knowledge theory will lay a solid foundation to the unified theory of information, knowledge, and intelligence and will greatly facilitate the effective utilization of information and knowledge, leading to the growth of the research in the field of intelligent machines.

Frontiers of Information Technology & Electronic Engineering 2022, Volume 23, Issue 12,   Pages 1765-1779 doi: 10.1631/FITEE.2100335

Abstract: As an interdisciplinary research approach, traditional cognitive science adopts mainly the experiment, induction, modeling, and validation paradigm. Such models are sometimes not applicable in cyber-physical-social-systems (CPSSs), where the large number of human users involves severe heterogeneity and dynamics. To reduce the decision-making conflicts between people and machines in human-centered systems, we propose a new research paradigm called parallel cognition that uses the system of intelligent techniques to investigate cognitive activities and functionals in three stages: descriptive cognition based on artificial cognitive systems (ACSs), predictive cognition with computational deliberation experiments, and prescriptive cognition via parallel . To make iteration of these stages constantly on-line, a hybrid learning method based on both a psychological model and user behavioral data is further proposed to adaptively learn an individual's cognitive knowledge. Preliminary experiments on two representative scenarios, urban travel and cognitive visual reasoning, indicate that our parallel cognition learning is effective and feasible for human , and can thus facilitate human-machine cooperation in both complex engineering and social systems.

Strategic Study of CAE 2018, Volume 20, Issue 4,   Pages 101-111 doi: 10.15302/J-SSCAE-2018.04.017

Abstract:

Collective intelligence (CI) is widely studied in the past few decades. The most well-known CI algorithm is the ant colony optimization (ACO). ACO is used to solve complex path searching problems through CI emergence. Recently, DeepMind announced the AlphaZero program which has achieved superhuman performance in the game of Go, Chess, and Shogi, by tabula rasa reinforcement learning from games of self-play. By experimenting and implementing the AlphaZero series program in the game of Gomoku, along with analyzing and comparing the Monte-Carlo tree search (MCTS) and ACO algorithms, it is realized that the success of AlphaZero is not only due to the deep neural network and reinforcement learning, but also due to the MCTS algorithm, which is discovered to be a CI emergence algorithm. Thus we propose a CI evolution theory, as a general framework towards artificial general intelligence (AGI). Combining the strengths of deep learning, reinforcement learning, and CI algorithm, CI evolution theory enables individual intelligence to evolve with high efficiency and low cost through CI emergence. This CI evolution theory has natural applications in intelligent robots. A cloud-terminal platform is developed to help intelligent robots evolve their intelligent models. As a proof of this idea, a welding robot's welding parameter optimization intelligent model is implemented on the platform.

Liu Donghai,Li Bingyang,Cui Bo

Strategic Study of CAE 2011, Volume 13, Issue 12,   Pages 74-79

Abstract:

In the paper, the concept and realization process of intelligent compaction for high roller compacted concrete dam construction was presented, as well as the theory of real-time monitoring and intelligent feedback control. Based on the analysis of real-time compaction index, a multiple regression model of the dam compactness was established and a real-time estimation method of compaction quality of the entire work area for roller compacted concrete dam was proposed finally. The adaptive adjustment of the roller work parameters was achieved, with the speed, exciting force, the rolling pass and the compacted thickness meeting the standard during the entire construction process, and the compaction quality and construction efficiency can be both improved as a result. What's more, the research provides a new way for the construction quality control of roller compacted concrete dam.

Engineering 2017, Volume 3, Issue 2,   Pages 154-160 doi: 10.1016/J.ENG.2017.02.011

Abstract:

Given the significant requirements for transforming and promoting the process industry, we present the major limitations of current petrochemical enterprises, including limitations in decision-making, production operation, efficiency and security, information integration, and so forth. To promote a vision of the process industry with efficient, green, and smart production, modern information technology should be utilized throughout the entire optimization process for production, management, and marketing. To focus on smart equipment in manufacturing processes, as well as on the adaptive intelligent optimization of the manufacturing process, operating mode, and supply chain management, we put forward several key scientific problems in engineering in a demand-driven and application-oriented manner, namely: ① intelligent sensing and integration of all process information, including production and management information; ② collaborative decision-making in the supply chain, industry chain, and value chain, driven by knowledge; ③ cooperative control and optimization of plant-wide production processes via human-cyber-physical interaction; and ④ life-cycle assessments for safety and environmental footprint monitoring, in addition to tracing analysis and risk control. In order to solve these limitations and core scientific problems, we further present fundamental theories and key technologies for smart and optimal manufacturing in the process industry. Although this paper discusses the process industry in China, the conclusions in this paper can be extended to the process industry around the world.

Abstract:

The theory research of engineering management in China always follows the idea of western project management knowledge system. There is lack of the logic and structured theory system with local characteristics, which needs to be closely analyzed and studied. This paper establishes the engineering management theory system conceptual model, which is the "tree" model, according to the scientific constructing methods abide by the logic process from abstract to concrete. The "tree" model organically links the basic theory, main theory and applied theory, vividly embodies the interactive relationship between theory research and practice, theory development and environment, and has the characteristic of opening, moving and developing.
