Inhibition of NF-kappa B can enhance Fas-mediated apoptosis in leukemia cell line HL-60

摘要： This study explored the effects of nuclear factor-kappa B (NF-κB) inhibitor Bay 11-7082 on Fas/FasL system and Fas-mediated apoptosis in cell line HL-60 cells. The mRNA and protein levels of Fas, FasL, and X-linked inhibitor of apoptosis protein (XIAP) were detected by reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) and flow cytometry (FCM); the level of sFasL was evaluated by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA); and apoptosis was determined by FCM. After treatment with Bay 11-7082, the mRNA and protein levels of FasL and XIAP in HL-60 cells were significantly lower than in the controls ( <0.05), but the mRNA and protein levels of Fas and sFasL did not change significantly ( >0.05). Apoptotic rate of HL-60 cells treated with Bay 11-7082 was significantly higher than in the controls ( <0.05). Therefore, we conclude that Bay 11-7082 can enhance Fas-mediated apoptosis in HL-60 cells by downregulating FasL and XIAP levels.

Arsenic (V) removal from groundwater by GE-HL nanofiltration membrane: effects of arsenic concentration

摘要： A laboratory-scale investigation was performed to study arsenic (As (V)) removal by negatively charged GE-HL nanofiltration (NF) membrane in simulated drinking water. Effects of As (V) concentration (0–200μg·L), pH, and co-ions and counter-ions were investigated. The NF membrane presented good stability, and the rejection rates exceeded 90%. The rejection rates of As (V) decreased with the increase of As (V) concentration, while it increased with the increase of pH (reached 96% at pH 6.75). Moreover, a negative relationship was observed between the co-existing ions of Cl, Na, SO, and Ca and the removal of As (V), in which bivalent ions presented more significant effects than monovalent ions.

Behavior of aqueous stable colloidal nano-C

摘要： C , as one of carbon nanomaterials widely used in various fields, could be released into the water environment thus exerting some potential health risks to human beings. This work examined the behavior of aqueous stable colloidal nano-C (nC ) aggregates under different environmental conditions including Polyethylene glycol octylphenol ether (TX100) micelles concentration, pH, and reaction time when exposed to TX100 micelles. Results show that the nC aggregates became more dispersive and restored the capability of generating the singlet oxygen when exposed to TX100 micelles. With the increase of TX100 concentration, smaller average size of nC aggregates was observed in dynamic light scattering (DLS) analysis, the fluorescence intensity of TX100 was more quenched by nC aggregates, and the kinetic rate constant of generating the singlet oxygen for nC aggregates was improved. The mean size of nC aggregates in the presence of TX100 had no obvious variations when the pH ranged from 4 to 8. The longer reaction time between nC aggregates and TX100 led to a higher kinetic rate constant of generating the singlet oxygen. Collective data suggest that variations in physicochemical properties of nC aggregates are strongly dependent on the surrounding media under different environmental conditions and directly govern nC ’s transport behavior and potential toxicity.

management of acquired thrombotic thrombocytopenic purpura in southeast China: a single center experience of 60

摘要：

Acquired thrombotic thrombocytopenic purpura (TTP) is a rare life-threatening thrombotic microangiopathy. This study aimed to provide a profile of the diagnosis and management of patients with acquired TTP collected in 10 years in a single center in southeast China. A total of 60 patients diagnosed with acute acquired TTP from March 2005 to August 2015 were enrolled. Among the 60 patients, 52 patients presented with their first episodes, and eight patients had two or more episodes. The median age at presentation was 49 (range, 17 to 78) years with a female predominance (male:female ratio, 1:1.60). ADAMTS 13 activity were analyzed in 43 patients, among whom 33 (76.7%) patients had a baseline level of<5%. Mortality was 30%. Plasma exchange (PEX) was performed in 62 of 69 (89.9%) episodes. Corticosteroids were administered in 54 of 69 (78.3%) episodes. Other immunosuppressants (e.g., vincristine, cyclosporine, and cyclosporin) were used in 7 of 69 (10.1%) episodes. Rituximab was documented in 4 patients with refractory/relapsed TTP for 5 episodes, showing encouraging results. In conclusion, the diagnosis of TTP depended on a comprehensive analysis of clinical data. Plasma ADAMTS13 activity assay helped confirm a diagnosis. PEX was the mainstay of the therapy, and rituximab can be used in relapsed/refractory disease.

近60年来中国大陆降水、气温动态及其相互关系的初步研究

摘要：

采用统计学方法，依据中国22个水文站点的资料，作出近60年来降水和气温的动态图，对22幅图逐个进行综合评价，并对降水和气温之间的相关关系进行分析中国近60年来降水表现为波动变化，年际间有增有减，各不相同，无统一增减趋势；b.中国作为世界的一部分，从对中国60 年来降水及气温资料的分析，似乎得不出全球气候一直变暖的结论。
