Abstract: In the field of (RDH), designing a high-precision predictor to reduce the embedding distortion and developing an effective embedding strategy to minimize the distortion caused by embedding information are the two most critical aspects. In this paper, we propose a new RDH method, including a predictor based on a and a novel embedding strategy with multiple embedding rules. In the predictor part, we first design a -based predictor. Then, we propose an image division method to divide the image into four parts, which can use more pixels as context. Compared with other predictors, the -based predictor can extend the range of pixels for prediction from neighboring pixels to global ones, making it more accurate in reducing the embedding distortion. In the embedding strategy part, we first propose a complexity measurement with pixels in the target blocks. Then, we develop an improved prediction error ordering rule. Finally, we provide an embedding strategy including multiple embedding rules for the first time. The proposed RDH method can effectively reduce the distortion and provide satisfactory results in improving the visual quality of data-hidden images, and experimental results show that the performance of our RDH method is leading the field.

Frontiers of Information Technology & Electronic Engineering 2024, Volume 25, Issue 1,   Pages 106-120 doi: 10.1631/FITEE.2300359

Abstract: Recently, various algorithms have been developed for generating appealing music. However, the style control in the generation process has been somewhat overlooked. Music style refers to the representative and unique appearance presented by a musical work, and it is one of the most salient qualities of music. In this paper, we propose an innovative algorithm capable of creating a complete musical composition from scratch based on a specified target style. A linear and a patch discriminator are introduced in the model. The linear models musical instrument digital interface (MIDI) event sequences and emphasizes the role of style information. Simultaneously, the patch discriminator applies an adversarial learning mechanism with two innovative loss functions to enhance the modeling of music sequences. Moreover, we establish a discriminative metric for the first time, enabling the evaluation of the generated music’s consistency concerning music styles. Both objective and subjective evaluations of our experimental results indicate that our method’s performance with regard to music production is better than the performances encountered in the case of music production with the use of state-of-the-art methods in available public datasets.

Road sub-surface defect detection based on gprMax forward simulation-sample generation and Swin Transformer-YOLOX

Frontiers of Structural and Civil Engineering 2024, Volume 18, Issue 3,   Pages 334-349 doi: 10.1007/s11709-024-1076-0

Abstract: Training samples for deep learning networks are typically obtained through various field experiments, which require significant manpower, resource and time consumption. However, it is possible to utilize simulated data to augment the training samples. In this paper, by comparing the actual experimental model with the simulated model generated by the gprMax [1] forward simulation method, the feasibility of obtaining simulated samples through gprMax simulation is validated. Subsequently, the samples generated by gprMax forward simulation are used for training the network to detect objects in existing real samples. At the same time, aiming at the detection and intelligent recognition of road sub-surface defects, the Swin-YOLOX algorithm is introduced, and the excellence of the detection network, which is improved by augmenting the simulated samples with real samples, is further verified. By comparing the prediction performance of the object detection models, it is observed that the model trained with mixed samples achieved a recall of 94.74% and a mean average precision (mAP) of 97.71%, surpassing the model trained only on real samples by 12.95% and 15.64%, respectively. The feasibility and excellence of training the model with mixed samples are confirmed. The potential of using a fusion of simulated and existing real samples instead of repeatedly acquiring new real samples by field experiment is demonstrated by this study, thereby improving detection efficiency, saving resources, and providing a new approach to the problem of multiple interpretations in ground penetrating radar (GPR) data.
