Analysis on the Trade Situation and Reasonable Import Scale of China’s Agricultural Products

Yang Liu, Qiyou Luo, Liyang Ma, Qing Zhang

Strategic Study of CAE 2018, Volume 20, Issue 5,   Pages 128-134 doi: 10.15302/J-SSCAE-2018.05.019

Abstract:

To fully utilize both domestic and overseas markets and resources, which was put forward by the Party Central Committee and the State Council, it's of great significance to accurately analyze the trade situation of agricultural products in China and scientifically grasp the reasonable scale of the import of agricultural products. This paper analyzes the general situation changes and driving factors of China’s agricultural products trade after China’s entry into WTO, and probes into the current situation of China’s major agricultural products trade in terms of varieties and markets. Furthermore, we estimates the reasonable import scale of major agricultural products in 2025 and 2030, such as wheat, rice, corn, cotton, sugar, soybean, vegetable oil, pork, beef, mutton, poultry meat, and aquatic products. Policy proposals of ensuring the basic supply of grain and bulk agricultural products at home, adopting active import strategy, improving the international agricultural product market monitoring and import early-warning mechanism, and promoting the “going global” strategy of agriculture are put forward.

Strategic Study of CAE 2022, Volume 24, Issue 6,   Pages 146-153 doi: 10.15302/J-SSCAE-2022.06.013

Abstract:

The central area of a megacity, which features high-intensity development, large population density, and concentrated urban functions, demonstrates the most prominent urban problems. Addressing the urban malaise in megacities necessitates analyzing and demonstrating the reasonable scale of the megacity central area. This study proposes that commuting time is the core controlling factor determining the reasonable scale of the megacity central area. Combining with point of interest data of multi-type land use and the geographic information system data for street administrative division, we identified the current central urban areas of ten cities in China using big data analysis and the clustering method; their current traffic efficiencies were then evaluated based on path navigation data via web maps and mobile phone signaling data verification. Finally, demonstration results were presented through quantitative analysis. Our study shows that the current central areas of the ten megacities cannot satisfy residents' need for a proper commuting time; considering factors such as technological development and improvement in the level of governance, 13‒15 km is the upper limit of equivalent radius for the central area of a megacity.

Strategic Study of CAE 2022, Volume 24, Issue 1,   Pages 20-28 doi: 10.15302/J-SSCAE-2022.01.003

Abstract:

The balance of supply and demand for agricultural resources in China is becoming increasingly tight due to the multiple effects of high-quality agricultural production, transformation and upgrading of food consumption structure, and climate change. Therefore, it is crucial for China to integrate the international and domestic resources and markets to ensure food security in the medium and long term. Based on a comparative analysis of agricultural resources in China and abroad, we investigate food consumption demand, consumption structure, and supply structure in China by 2035 and 2050. The agricultural resource utilization targets for China by 2035 and 2050 are proposed based on an analysis of the agricultural resource supply-demand gap as well as import potentials and sources of virtual water and virtual arable land. We find that the import of virtual arable land by China will reach a peak around 2048, with nearly 6.147×107 hm2. Virtual water imports will reach a peak around 2045. If estimated by blue water, virtual water imports will be 1.136×108 m3, accounting for 30% of the total agricultural water consumption in 2017. The increase in the import potentials of China’s arable land will mainly come from South America and Africa.

Reasonable Rated Voltage of High and Medium Power Adjustable-Speed Drives for Energy Saving

Ma Xiaoliang

Strategic Study of CAE 2001, Volume 3, Issue 11,   Pages 80-84

Abstract:

A large amount of energy will be saved if adjustable-speed drives are adopted by high and medium power pumps and fans. The power range of most of the drives is within 0.2~2 MW. The rated voltage of most of the motors in the power range is 10 kV because the power supply is 10 kV. The adjustable-speed scheme, a 10 kV motor is fed by a 10 kV inverter, is not reasonable because this kind of inverter consists of a lot of power electronic devices in series and its cost is high and reliability is poorer than lower voltage one. Owing to the existence of input transformer of the inverter, it is not necessary to ask for that the rated voltage of the motor and inverter is the same as power supply, i. e. a lower rated voltage can be used for the motor and inverter. The reasonable rated voltages of motors and inverters with different power grades are investigated and the by-pass methods when the rated voltages of the motors are different from power supply are discussed in this paper.

Spatial Nonlinear Analysis of the Reasonable Cable Tension for a Thousand-meter Scale Cable-stayed Bridge Under Permanent Loads

Zhang Jianmin,Xiao Rucheng

Strategic Study of CAE 2004, Volume 6, Issue 12,   Pages 37-42

Abstract:

In this paper, a model for spatial nonlinear optimization programming to obtain the prestresses of cables in the cable-stayed bridge is established, in which the bending strain energy of the beams for the bridge and the cable tower is the objective function, and structural stresses and the cable forces are the constraint conditions. In order to determine the prestresses of the cables of the bridge, the first order optimization method is used to solve the program. This method is used to obtain set of optimal cable tensions of a thousand-meter scale cable-stayed bridge under permanent loads, and the result of analysis showed that the method is easy to apply and effective.

Abstract:

Extreme-scale numerical simulations seriously demand extreme parallel computing capabilities. To address the challenges of these capabilities toward exascale, we systematically analyze the major bottlenecks of parallel computing research from three perspectives: computational scale, computing efficiency, and programming productivity. For these bottlenecks, we propose a series of urgent key issues and coping strategies. This study will be useful in synchronizing development between the numerical computing capability and supercomputer peak performance.

Lin Zhongqin,Li Shuhui,Wang Wurong,Lai Xinmin

Strategic Study of CAE 2009, Volume 11, Issue 11,   Pages 22-29

Abstract:

The lean forming technology for auto sheet metal has been proposed, which consists of a proper material selection method considering the forming characteristic, a hybrid optimization methodology for effective drawbead force design and an experiment platform with the control of variable blank holder force. Aiming at decreasing the forming sensitivity to variation in materials and process, a forming robust design methodology has been studied. The technical framework for auto sheet metal lean forming was constructed based on the idea of proper material selection, process optimization and robust control. Through more than 10 years of application in Baosteel and some automobile plants, 50 % market sharing has been targeted for Baosteel auto steel sheet, which effectively promotes the development of application technologies for home-made auto sheet metal.

Expanding and Enhancing the Research Allocation on Soybean Breeding and Genetics for the Establishment of Market Supply Based on Domestic Production

Gai Junyi

Strategic Study of CAE 2003, Volume 5, Issue 5,   Pages 1-6

Abstract:

The serious soybean supply problem was called for attention according to an analysis of current soybean production in China and growing import from outside world. It was pointed out that for ensuring soybean supply, the only way is to keep basically self-sufficiency with some reasonable amount of supplement from import as soybean has been being the most important nutrition source in the long Chinese history and has taken the unsubstitutional position in modern food processing industry. Based on the above facts, five facets of suggestions and measures for developing domestic soybean production were raised. Furthermore, on expanding and enhancing the most important and powerful technological aspect, soybean breeding and genetics, four suggestions were put forward for the related authority^ reference. They are: (1) to further establish and improve the soybean cultivar development and breeding research systems; (2) to further establish and optimize the soybean research team with multiple discipline interaction and research atmosphere; (3) to organize some breakthrough programs with multiple disciplinary cooperation, such as those in high yield ideal type establishment, hybrid soybean production and utilization of heterosis, and creation of specific quality trait mutants; and (4) to establish an advanced soybean genomic study program for future improvement of breeding technologies.

Rational Distribution of Water Resources of North China and South-to-North Water Diversion

Pan Jiazheng

Strategic Study of CAE 2000, Volume 2, Issue 10,   Pages 26-32

Abstract:

According to the present status of China´ s water resources and the needs of sustainable development, it is imperative and possible to carry out the south-to-north water diversion project, that is to divert water from the Yantze River valley, which has plentiful water resources, upward to the north part of China.

The principle of south-to-north water diversion should be as follows: Establish the sociaty of water-saving, do not supply water according to the “exaggerated needs”; distribute water rationally, and pay attention to tapping the potential; the east and weet water diversion routes are existing side by side and playing a part together, not irreconcilable to each other; make budget estimate in a practical and realistic way, avoiding endless supplementary budgets; the partial and local interests must be subordinated to the interests of the whole, and the temporary interests, subordinated to the long-term enes; implement unified management, scientific allocation and the charginy system for use of water resources; to divert water from the southwest region is not realistic, better to put off.
