Study of operation reliability based on diagnosis information for mechanical equipment

He Zhengjia,Cai Gaigai,Shen Zhongjie,Cao Hongrui,Li Bing

Strategic Study of CAE 2013, Volume 15, Issue 1,   Pages 9-14

Abstract:

The traditional reliability analysis has such shortcomings that it relies on probability statistics with the large sample statistical data. This study proposes two operation reliability assessment methods which use running condition monitoring information to realize the reliability evaluation under small sample. They are the reliability evaluation methods based on the normalized wavelet information entropy and the damage quantitative identification respectively. Vibration signals of mechanical equipment are decomposed and reconstructed by means of second generation wavelet package to acquire decomposed signals in sub-frequency bands, so that full condition information of running equipment can be adequately used. We take relative energy in each sub-frequency band to calculate normalized information entropy. The reliability degree, an important reliability index, is transformed by using the normalized wavelet information entropy to assess operation reliability for running equipment. A new operation reliability assessment index called membership reliability degree is defined and an operation reliability assessment model is built based on quantitative damage diagnosis. Successful applications have been achieved to assess operation reliability of an oxy-generator compressor and the wheel bearings in electric locomotives, which demonstrated that the proposed approaches are reasonable and effective. The paper provides new approaches without large sample size, which are independent of probability to operation reliability assessment for large machinery.

Strategic Study of CAE 2005, Volume 7, Issue 2,   Pages 41-46

Abstract:

The lack of data and availability is a major problem that embarrasses human reliability analysis (HRA) for a long time. In the course of Qinshan HRA, a full-size simulator was used to conduct an experiment on the operator’s reliability. It involves 3 cognition patterns including those of the skill-based, rule-based and knowledge-based and 23 abnormal events (55 His) which affect greatly the safety of power plant. The response time and conditions of 38 operators were recorded and kinescoped. 764 data points were resulted. All the data were analyzed and processed to develope HRA/HCR basic model parameter which matches with the features of Qinshan Nuclear Power Plant system and personnels. This paper introduces the background , theory, method, course, conclusion and their comparison with data obtained abroad.

Frontiers of Information Technology & Electronic Engineering 2021, Volume 22, Issue 8,   Pages 1104-1113 doi: 10.1631/FITEE.2000229

Abstract: This paper presents a study of s in submillimeter and terahertz bands. To show the necessity of improving the mechanical properties of the coupler’s branch in submillimeter and terahertz bands, a comprehensive study regarding the displacement of hybrid branch variation with varying width-length ratio and height-length ratio has been completed. In addition, a modified is designed and presented. Compared with the traditional branch structure, the proposed hybrid consists of a modified middle branch with circular cutouts at the top and bottom on both sides instead of the traditional rectangle branch, which increases the branch size and improves its while achieving the same performance. Simulation results show that the deformation of the modified hybrid branch is 22% less than those of other traditional structure designs under the same stress. In practice, a vibration experiment is set up to verify the of hybrid couplers. Measurement results show that the experiment deteriorates the coupling performance. Experimental results verify that the performance of the novel structure coupler is better than that of a traditional structure branch hybrid coupler under the same electrical properties.

Reliability analysis of corroded oil and gas pipeline

Xu Wei,Liu Mao

Strategic Study of CAE 2010, Volume 12, Issue 9,   Pages 69-72

Abstract:

ASME B31G is the international criteria to assess the failure stress of corroded pipeline, taking into account its conservatism, this paper studies the failure stress of corroded pipeline based on the modified B31G, and considers some random variables that contains pipeline wall thickness, corrosion rate, operating pressure, defect depth and so on, so a limit state function of corroded carrying Oil/Gas is established. Afterwards, the first order and second moment method is employed for research on the reliability of corroded pipeline, and calculation on reliability index, failure probability and remaining life. In addition, to further standardize the management of corrosion of pipelines, taking into account the relevant provisions of American Petroleum Institute, different failure probability of pipeline were graded. In the final, a sensitivity analysis was carried out on random variables involved in the problem. The results of sensitivity analysis indicate that the failure probability is the most sensitive to the coefficient of variation of wall thickness.

Stiction and Friction in Micro Electro Mechanical Systems

Wang Weiyuan

Strategic Study of CAE 2000, Volume 2, Issue 3,   Pages 36-41

Abstract:

The stiction and friction influencing the yield and reliability of MEMS are reviewed in this paper. The stiction, called release-related stiction, can occur within micron gaps of Si microstuctures during the etching of sacrifacial layer by HF and drying. It can also occur after packaging of the device due to over range of input signals and is called in-use stiction. It is concluded that the capillary force of water between two Si hydrophilic surfaces at separation gap of micron is the major contributor to the release-related stiction. The origin of in-use adhesion is from the chemical state of Si surface. Coating of anti-stiction films on the surface of Si microstructures and packaging of devices under dry atmosphere or vacuum are the most important methods to prevent the in MEMS devices from stiction. The preparation technology of anti-stiction films and its problems are described. Comparing with stiction, the friction is more complex. The commercially produced accelerometers and digital mirror devices are the devices with no direct contact friction. After using anti-stiction films, the stiction is fully prevented, and even the friction is apparently decreased. However, friction still exists in MEMS of direct contact moving parts. The wear resoluted from friction will decrease the reliability and lifetime of the devices. To fabricate the films with anti-stiction and wear-resitsting ability are the key research projects in high speed moving MEMS devices.

Strategic Study of CAE 2014, Volume 16, Issue 11,   Pages 72-77

Abstract:

Non-electric initiation system was the only initiation system for viaduct blasting demolition. Aimed at the application actuality, the relay point characteristicof multiple parallel detonator initiation system was studied in the paper, and the simple formula for mean value of the relay point initiation time was put forward. Reliability standard for non-electric initiationsystem of different scale was established. Duplex-cross non-electric initiation systemwas invented, which not only can avoid side roll in the viaduct collapse process, but also can elevate the reliability of the relay point. Research achievements can provide theoretical basis for viaduct blasting demolition initiation system design.

Zero-failure accelerated reliability demonstration test method based on degradation model

Zhang Huirui

Strategic Study of CAE 2015, Volume 17, Issue 5,   Pages 31-37

Abstract:

Traditional life demonstration test is conducted under normal conditions and fails to use degradation observations, thus requires large amount of time and money. We can employ degradation data to predict whether a unit will pass the test by the end of test, and the test can be terminated early when this prediction does not cost unacceptable risk. Also higher stress can accelerate the degradation of the unit to cut down the test time. Thus it is necessary to propose a method that take advantage of both degradation data and accelerated test to reduce the test time and cost, which is done by this article. In particular, the article propose an approach to analyses and calculate the additional risks caused by early termination of the test and applying higher stress based on degradation model, then the minimum sample size of different test time can be picked. The article also use optimal plan to give expected test time and give deciding rules of terminating the test for each unit. At last, the method is illustrated by an example, showing that the method is efficient in reducing test time.

Abstract:

This study is presented in view of the current tunnel monitoring maintenance status and existing problems, and proposes reliability-centered maintenance (RCM) as a maintenance concept. RCM can be introduced into tunnel management. Accordingly, a preliminary study on the application of the RCM method in tunnel monitoring maintenance is performed through the tunnel equipment failure mode and a reliability analysis. Finally, by adopting a case, this study shows that a tunnel using the RCM analysis method can effectively reduce the maintenance cost, and has certain economic and social benefits.
