Lin Bingnan,Zhou Jianjun

Strategic Study of CAE 2004, Volume 6, Issue 4,   Pages 30-33

Abstract:

In this preliminary study, it is shown that for a reservoir on a river of rich runoff, such as the Yangtze, elaborate scheme of sediment management may be devised to substantially reduce reservoir deposition. The mathematical model applied in this investigation has been fairly well verified with long - term field data of sediment transport by unsteady flow in the Lower Yellow River. In view of the importance of TGP, however, further investigation with physical models and mathematical model of other versions is planned. Great financial benefits are involved.

Li Qiqiang,Shi Kaiquan

Strategic Study of CAE 2001, Volume 3, Issue 3,   Pages 75-79

Abstract:

A production scheduling solution involves a great deal of constrains, which determine the feasibility of the solution. So the study of the stability orientated to constrains is the focus of this paper. The definitions of the satisfaction degree of hard constrains and soft constrains are presented, and a concept of stable degree of production scheduling is proposed. A simulation result demonstrates the significance of the stability degree of scheduling in practical production processes.

Strategic Study of CAE 2011, Volume 13, Issue 7,   Pages 61-65

Abstract:

Since the impoundment of Three Gorges Reservoir in 2003, the construction schedule, resettlement and geological hazard treatment were ahead of those in the preliminary design. The sedimentation conditions were obviously better than expected, and the goal of stage-by-stage impoundment was achieved in advance. Simultaneously, with the changes in operating conditions, optimum operations such as floating control of flood limit water level, medium and small flood regulation and impounding in advance were carried out, which produced enormous comprehensive benefits in flood control, drought relief, navigation, water supply and ecology. Especially during the flood season in 2010, the flood retention and storage capacity reached totaled 26.6 billion m3 through medium and small sized flood regulation, and the flood resources were fully utilized. In the end of the flood season, the flood resources were fully utilized and the water lever reached 175 m first with the joint operation of flood control and water storage. Then the project began to give full play to its comprehensive benefits during the normal operation period.

Variable-separating-based Space Decomposition Algorithm of Production Scheduling

Gao Yongchao,Li Qiqiang,Ding Ran,Guo Qingqiang

Strategic Study of CAE 2006, Volume 8, Issue 9,   Pages 61-64

Abstract:

Most static production scheduling problems are formulated in MILP ( mixed integer linear programming) or MINLP(mixed integer non-linear programming) . It is difficult to find solutions of scheduling because of its large scale and combinatorial characters. According to the features of MIP (mixed integer programming), integral variables and continuous variables are separated and the searching space is decomposed naturally into many continuous subspaces of less scale. Taking a typical batch production scheduling as a case, the analysis shows that variable-separating strategy decreases the scale of continuous searching problem greatly and makes it easy to solve, which can improve the speed and efficiency of optimization.

Dai Jianyong,Yang Shijiao,Gu Desheng

Strategic Study of CAE 2006, Volume 8, Issue 8,   Pages 77-80

Abstract:

According to complexity and non-lineer character of transportation scheduling system in surface mine, the real time transportation scheduling system model is set up for the transportation scheduling system subject to many factors such as mining craft, yield, quality, etc., with all arithmetic operators of genetic algorithms such as selection, crossover, mutation, interpotation, and migration. The model has been adopted by production transportation scheduling system of raw material quarry in Shaofeng Cement Group, which not only reduced transportation cost, but also harmonized relations among mining craft, yield, quality, and got better effect. In the meantime, it will be of benefit to information construction of quarry enterprises and others materials circulation enterprises.

The Improvement of Genetic Algorithm and Its Application in the Optimal Operation of Reservoirs

Zhong Denghua,Xiong Kaizhi,Cheng Liqin

Strategic Study of CAE 2003, Volume 5, Issue 9,   Pages 22-26

Abstract:

Genetic algorithms search for the optimal solution by continually improving the individual of the population. Because of the difficulty in convergence and solving of individual fitness, standard genetic algorithm (SGA) is not used widely. Based on the improvement of SGA, especially the improvement of the selection operator in SGA, a new genetic algorithm(AGA) is proposed to solve the problems about the optimal operation of reservoirs. A new coding method is presented which is based on the subscript sequence of reservoir capacity array other than the water level sequence. An engineering example illustrates that AGA is much more efficient than SGA, and also the new coding method predigests the course of genetic algorithm in the optimal operation of reservoirs.

Fuzzy Programming Based Modeling of Production Scheduling of Batch Processes

Zhang Hong,Li Chiqiang

Strategic Study of CAE 2004, Volume 6, Issue 10,   Pages 65-70

Abstract:

By analyzing certain fuzzy models for production scheduling, the author proposes a general novel fuzzification method based on fuzzy programming for batching production processes and offers a modeling method with fuzzy coefficients. Two fuzzy algorithms based on genetic algorithm, i. e. , fuzzy simulation and SFA algorithm, are adopted to solve the fuzzy model. The selection of membership function is flexible, and a proper expression of fuzziness is adopted. Finally, a numerical example demonstrates that the modeling method is valid.

Optimal Scheduling of Variable-pressure Variable-flow Operation of Inverter-drive Pumps Connected in Parallel

Li Hongbin,Zhang Chenghui,Song Jun

Strategic Study of CAE 2001, Volume 3, Issue 9,   Pages 52-57

Abstract:

The paper analyzes common methods for the optimal scheduling modeling problem of variable-pressure variable-flow operation of inverter-drive pumps connected in parallel and compares the merits and defects of them. In the common method, the objective function is the shaft horsepower of the pumps and the constrained conditions are water supply target and high-efficiency area of pumps. In another method, the objective function is the square of the difference between the actual and needed flow when satisfying the lift target and the constrained conditions are high-efficiency areas of pumps. The paper proposes a new modeling method, which is compatible with the actual operation and has higher precision and satisfies the engineering requirement on lower switching frequency. Simulation results have proved its validity.

Resource scheduling techniques in cloud from a view of coordination: a holistic survey Review

Yuzhao WANG, Junqing YU, Zhibin YU,yuzhao_w@hust.edu.cn,yjqing@hust.edu.cn,zb.yu@siat.ac.cn

Frontiers of Information Technology & Electronic Engineering 2023, Volume 24, Issue 1,   Pages 1-40 doi: 10.1631/FITEE.2100298

Abstract: Nowadays, the management of resource contention in shared cloud remains a pending problem. The evolution and deployment of new application paradigms (e.g., deep learning training and s) and custom hardware (e.g., graphics processing unit (GPU) and tensor processing unit (TPU)) have posed new challenges in resource management system design. Current solutions tend to trade cluster efficiency for guaranteed application performance, e.g., resource over-allocation, leaving a lot of resources underutilized. Overcoming this dilemma is not easy, because different components across the software stack are involved. Nevertheless, massive efforts have been devoted to seeking effective performance isolation and highly efficient resource scheduling. The goal of this paper is to systematically cover related aspects to deliver the techniques from the perspective, and to identify the corresponding trends they indicate. Briefly, four topics are involved. First, isolation mechanisms deployed at different levels (micro-architecture, system, and virtualization levels) are reviewed, including GPU multitasking methods. Second, within an individual machine and at the cluster level are investigated, respectively. Particularly, GPU scheduling for deep learning applications is described in detail. Third, adaptive resource management including the latest -related research is thoroughly explored. Finally, future research directions are discussed in the light of advanced work. We hope that this review paper will help researchers establish a global view of the landscape of resource management techniques in shared cloud, and see technology trends more clearly.

Minimum Reserved Traffic Rate Based Fair Scheduling Algorithm in IEEE 802.16e

Shi Juncai,Hu Aiqun,Guan Yanfeng

Strategic Study of CAE 2008, Volume 10, Issue 2,   Pages 54-59

Abstract:

According to the characteristics of IEEE 802.16-2005, a minimum reserve d traffic rate based fair scheduling algorithm in IEEE 802.16-2005 is proposed in this paper. It can support multiple service types and guarantee every service´s minimum reserved traffic rate. A compensation strategy is introduced to ensure m inimum reserved traffic rate of service which is in bad channel condition. At th e same time, services which have higher priority and are in good channel conditi on are granted more bandwidth to ensure the QoS (quality of service) and maximiz e the throughput performance. The simulation study shows that the algorithm can guar antee the minimum reserved traffic rate and distinguish the services in differen t levels. Furthermore, the algorithm has advantages in both fairness and through p ut performance compared with PF (proportional fair) algorithm. The algorithm pro posed in this paper is in accordance with IEEE 802-16-2005 and has gre at value.

Zhang Dongmei,Chen Youyun,Cai Yueming

Strategic Study of CAE 2007, Volume 9, Issue 6,   Pages 77-81

Abstract:

The paper studied the radio resource fairness scheduling for Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing Multiple Access (OFDMA) systems which was supporting several different services. After deeply analyzing a classical resource scheduling algorithm,  which maximize the worst user's capacity,  an improved algorithm which can evidently enhance the fairness performance was proposed.  Simulation results show that the improved algorithm can keep a better fairness performance under different application environment,  and can more strictly guarantee the required data rate for different service.
