Experimental studies on the axial crash behavior of aluminum foam-filled hat sections

摘要: Drop hammer tests were carried out to study the axial crash behavior of aluminum foam-filled hat sections. First, the axial crash tests of the empty hat sections, aluminum foam and the aluminum foam-filled hat sections were carried out; then, based upon the test results, the axial crash behavior of the aluminum foam-filled hat sections were analyzed. It was found that aluminum foam filling can increase the energy absorption capacities of the hat sections. Compared with the non-filled structures, aluminum foamfilled structures were much more stable and needed less mass to absorb the specified energy.

摘要: Concrete-filled steel tubular columns with L or T sections were analyzed in this paper. According to the confining mechanism, the stress-strain constitutive model was put forward, and calculated results were compared with experimental records. After that, the hysteretic rules for the in-filled concrete were constructed, aiming at the analysis on the seismic behavior of composite members. The simulation analysis was performed by programming it in Fortran. The models in this paper can be applied in the program of time history analysis on tall buildings with concrete-filled steel tubular columns with L or T sections.

Preparation and characterization of EVAL hollow fiber membrane adsorbents filled with cation exchange

摘要: EVAL hollow fiber membrane adsorbents filled with powder D061-type cation exchange resin were prepared through dry-wet spinning process, using hydrophilic copolymer EVAL as the fiber substrate. The microstructures of the membrane adsorbents were observed, and the pure water fluxes, BSA rejection, and static adsorption capacities of membrane adsorbents for BSA were measured. The effect of the resin-filled content on membrane performance has been discussed. The results showed that EVAL hollow fiber membrane adsorbents filled with D061-type cation exchange resins had good adsorption capacity, and the adsorption capacity increased with the quantity of the resin-filled content. The static protein adsorption capacity was 77.14 mg BSA/g membrane adsorbents when D061 resin loading content was 65% at pH 4.5.

Tensile ratcheting behaviors of bronze powder filled polytetrafluoroethylene

摘要: A series of tensile and ratcheting experiments for compacted polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) and bronze filled PTFE (PTFE/bronze) were conducted on dynamic mechanical analyzer (DMA-Q800). The effects of mean stress, stress amplitude and temperature on the ratcheting behaviors of PTFE and PTFE/bronze were investigated. It is found that the stress-strain response of PTFE/bronze is nonlinear and its elastic modulus is higher than that of pure PTFE. For uniaxial ratcheting test, the dissipation strain energy density (DSED) decreases rapidly in the first 10 cycles and approaches a constant after 20 cycles. The ratcheting strain and the DSED corresponding to 100 cycles increase with increasing mean stress, stress amplitude and temperature. Additionally, the DSED and ratcheting strain of PTFE/bronze are much lower than those of pure PTFE under the same experimental conditions. It is also found that both pure PTFE and PTFE/bronze present cyclic hardening characteristics. Above all, the addition of bronze can improve both the uniaxial tensile property and the cyclic property of PTFE.

Theoretical study on the confine-stiffening effect and fractal cracking of square concrete filled steel

摘要: Tension stress in steel-concrete composite is widely observed in engineering design. Based on an experimental program on tension performance of three square concrete-filled tubes (SCFT), the tension theory of SCFT is proposed using a mechanics-based approach. The tension stiffening effect, the confining strengthening effect and the confining stiffening effect, observed in tests of SCFTs are included in the developed tension theory model. Subsequently, simplified constitutive models of steel and concrete are proposed for the axial tension performance of SCFT. Based on the MSC.MARC software, a special fiber beam-column element is proposed to include the confining effect of SCFTs under tension and verified. The proposed analytical theory, effective formulas, and equivalent constitutive laws are extensively verified against three available tests reported in the literature on both global level (e.g., load-displacement curves) and strain level. The experimental verification proves the accuracy of the proposed theory and formulations in simulating the performance of SCFT members under tension with the capability to accurately predict the tensile strength and stiffness enhancements and realistically simulate the fractal cracking phenomenon.

Experimental research on self-stressing and self-compacting concrete filled steel tube columns subjected

摘要: A total of fifteen self-stressing and self-compacting concrete (SSC) filled steel tube columns and three common self-compacting concrete filled steel tube (CFST) columns are tested under eccentric compression load to analyze the effect of initial self-stress on the compression behavior of CFSTs. The results show that the elastic working range of the columns is lengthened because of initial self-stress and it slightly decreases with the increase of load eccentricity ratio and slenderness ratio. Because of the initial self-stress, the concrete core is always under compression in three directions, so the compactness is enhanced and the ultimate bearing capacity obviously increases; but the initial self-stress hardly affects the failure mode of the columns.

Behaviors of recycled aggregate concrete-filled steel tubular columns under eccentric loadings

摘要: The paper investigates the behaviors of recycled aggregate concrete-filled steel tubular (RACFST) columns under eccentric loadings with the incorporation of expansive agents. A total of 16 RACFST columns were tested in this study. The main parameters varied in this study are recycled coarse aggregate replacement percentages (0%, 30%, 50%, 70%, and 100%), expansive agent dosages (0%, 8%, and 15%) and an eccentric distance of compressive load from the center of the column (0 and 40 mm). Experimental results showed that the ultimate stresses of RACFST columns decreased with increasing recycled coarse aggregate replacement percentages but appropriate expansive agent dosages can reduce the decrement; the incorporation of expansive agent decreased the ultimate stresses of RACFST columns but an appropriate dosage can increase the deformation ability. The recycled coarse aggregate replacement percentages have limited influence on the ultimate stresses of the RACFST columns and has more effect than that of the normal aggregate concrete-filled steel tubular columns.

Axial compression behavior of CFRP-confined rectangular concrete-filled stainless steel tube stub column

摘要: The mechanical properties of CFRP-confined rectangular concrete-filled stainless steel tube (CFSST) stub columns under axial compression were experimentally studied. A total of 28 specimens (7 groups) were fabricated for the axial compression test to study the influences of length-to-width ratio, CFRP constraint coefficient, and the thickness of stainless steel tube on the axial compression behavior. The specimen failure modes, the stress development of stainless steel tube and CFRP wrap, and the load–strain ratio curves in the loading process were obtained. Meanwhile, the relationship between axial and transverse deformations of each specimen was analyzed through the typical relative load−strain ratio curves. A bearing capacity prediction method was proposed based on the twin-shear strength theory, combining the limit equilibrium state of the CFRP-confined CFSST stub column under axial compression. The prediction method was calibrated by the test data in this study and other literature. The results show that the prediction method is of high accuracy.

Cyclic behavior of stiffened joints between concrete-filled steel tubular column and steel beam with

摘要: This paper presented an investigation on a stiffened joint in practical engineering which was between concrete-filled steel tubular column and steel beam with narrow outer diaphragm and partial joint penetration welds. Through the low-frequency cyclic loading test, the cyclic behavior and failure mode of the specimen were investigated. The results of the test indicated the failure mode and bearing capacity of the specimen which were influenced by the axial compression ratio of the concrete-filled tubular column. On the contrary, the inner diaphragm and inner stiffeners had limited impacts on the hysteretic behavior of the joint. There was no hysteresis damage fracture on the narrow outer diaphragm connected to the concrete-filled steel tubular column with partial joint penetration welds. Due to the excellent ductility and energy dissipating capacity, the proposed joint could be applied to the seismic design of high-rise buildings in highly intensive seismic region, but axial compression ratio should be controlled to avoid unfavorable failure modes.

Stress-strain relationship of recycled self-compacting concrete filled steel tubular column subjected

摘要: As a typical compression member, the concrete-filled steel tube has been widely used in civil engineering structures. However, little research on recycled self-compacting concrete filled circular steel tubular (RSCCFCST) columns subjected to eccentric load was reported. In this study, 21 specimens were designed and experimental studies on the stress-strain relationship of were carried out to study the mechanical behaviors. Recycled coarse aggregate replacement ratio, concrete strength grade, length to diameter ratio and eccentric distance of specimens were considered as the main experimental parameters to carry out eccentric compression tests. The corresponding stress-strain relationship curves were used to analyze the influence of concerned parameters on eccentric load-bearing capacity of RSCCFCST columns. The experimental results show that the strain of the eccentric compression stress-strain curves increase with the increase of recycled coarse aggregate replacement ratio and concrete strength grade. With increase of eccentric distance, the ductility of specimens increases while the bearing capacity decreases. Moreover, a phenomenological model of RSCCFCST columns is proposed, which exhibits versatile ability to capture the process during loading. The present study is expected to further understanding the behaviors and to provide guidance of RSCCFCST columns in design and engineering applications.

Behavior of concrete-filled double skin steel tubular columns with octagon section under axial compression

摘要: Based on some conclusions of two kinds of concrete-filled double skin steel tube (CFDSST) members with circular or square sections, a new kind of CFDSST with octagonal section, where the outer tube has an octagonal section and the inner tube has a circular section, is proposed in this paper. Behaviors of the CFDSST members with octagon section subjected to axial compression are investigated, and some curves of load-strain of steel tubes and confined concrete and the bearing capacity of members are obtained. It is indicated that the bearing capacity of the columns with octagonal section is larger than that with square section and is smaller than that with circular section, and the bearing capacity of members is related to the ratio of the straight side to the bevelled one. Based on the proper stress-strain relationship, a couple of numerical analyses are made using the finite element software named ANSYS. Finally, a simplified formula is proposed in the paper, and the numerical results agree well with the experimental results and the mathematical solutions. The results are valuable for engineers.

Typical diseases of a long-span concrete-filled steel tubular arch bridge and their effects on vehicle-induced

摘要: A long-span concrete-filled steel tubular (CFST) arch bridge suffers severe vehicle-induced dynamic responses during its service life. However, few quantitative studies have been reported on the typical diseases suffered by such bridges and their effects on vehicle-induced dynamic response. Thus, a series of field tests and theoretical analyses were conducted to study the effects of typical diseases on the vehicle-induced dynamic response of a typical CFST arch bridge. The results show that a support void results in a height difference between both sides of the expansion joint, thus increasing the effect of vehicle impact on the main girder and suspenders. The impact factor of the displacement response of the main girder exceeds the design value. The variation of the suspender force is significant, and the diseases are found to have a greater effect on a shorter suspender. The theoretical analysis results also show that the support void causes an obvious longitudinal displacement of the main girder that is almost as large as the vertical displacement. The support void can also cause significant changes in the vehicle-induced acceleration response, particularly when the supports and steel box girder continue to collide with each other under the vehicle load.

K型钢管混凝土节点疲劳性能试验研究

摘要:

以湘潭四大桥桁架拱为工程背景,进行了三种规格的K型钢管混凝土节点的疲劳试验,基于热点应力计算了K型钢管混凝土节点的疲劳荷载幅值,表明热点应力法能够较好地评估钢管混凝土节点的疲劳寿命;试验表明K型钢管混凝土节点的疲劳性能明显优于K型钢管节点。在此基础上初步提出了K型钢管混凝土节点的S—N曲线,对建立K型钢管混凝土节点疲劳寿命设计准则具有一定的参考意义。

Numerical simulation of compaction parameters for sand-filled embankment using large thickness sand filling

摘要: The study uses the finite element method to simulate a new technique of highway sand embankment filling in Jianghan Plain district, which can raise the thickness of sand-filled layer from 30 cm to 70 cm and can significantly shorten the construction period based on the guarantee of sand embankment construction quality. After simulating the three compacting proposals carried out on the field test, the study uses COMSOL software to research on the compacting effects of sand-filled layers in larger thicknesses by 22 ton vibratory roller alone, and then to investigate the steady compacting effect of 12 ton vibratory roller. The simulation results indicate that the sand-filled layer thickness of 70 cm is suitable for the new sand filling technique, and the sand-filled embankment project with tight construction period is suggested to choose the 12 ton vibration roller for steady compaction.
