The European Union (EU) has the most advanced, mature, and liberal energy markets that gave rise to the most dramatic drop in wholesale energy prices, whose fallen, however, has not been translated into a reduction in retail energy prices. Instead, energy prices in Europe rose above inflation year-in-year-out, and are considerably higher compared with major economic partners. This paper highlights the key limitations in the EU market designs and network access toward renewable integration, and the wide range of reforms that the EU is currently undertaken across the Member States to achieve two goals: to make the market fit for renewable, and to set a practical example of how a competitive economy can be built on a sustainable and affordable energy system. This paper concludes with key recommendations to developing nations, particularly in addressing heavy renewable curtailment.

This paper examines the historical evolution of crop-livestock integration in China with a specific focus on its role in mitigating non-point source pollution. Extensive examination of existing literature has unearthed the roots of crop-livestock integration dating back to the Western Zhou Dynasty (1046 to 771 BCE), ultimately culminating in a multifaceted and intricately interwoven system of rural development policies seen in contemporary China. This paper identifies and characterizes four distinct stages in the historical trajectory of crop-livestock integration: the era of self-sufficient subsistence production in traditional times (1046 BCE to 1948); the period where crop-livestock integration emerged as a pivotal strategy for augmenting grain and meat production under collectivist policies (1949‒1977); the phase marked by the industrialization and expansion of the livestock sector during the early years of economic reforms (1978‒2011); and the present era in which crop-livestock integration is harnessed as a mechanism for pollution control and ecological preservation in contemporary China (2012 to present). This paper illuminates the diverse contributions of crop-livestock integration in different epochs of rural development within China, which contributes to a nuanced and more theoretically grounded comprehension of circular agriculture. This understanding has the potential to be leveraged to promote sustainable rural development in broader contexts.

At the end of the 20th century Ministry of Agriculture of China put forward a strategic principle for agricultural development the main contents of which are paying equal attention to cereals crops, economic crops and feed crops. It stressed the importance of combination of agriculture and animal husbandry.
National dietary structure has had a great change in the past 20 years in China. It shows that the increasing quantity of meat, eggs and milk has been easing off the shortage of cereals. It´s estimated that there will be a shortage of 50% of protein for feed in the mid-long term for China to reache the leading level of the average per capita animal protein in the developing countries, especially the shortage of main limiting-amino acids, such as lysine and methionine, will be more critical. Considering the national conditions and strength, it is difficult to produce amino acids through the industrial way owing to the limitation of the investment, technique and ingredients. It is an effective way to solve the shortage of protein for feed that the internal quality of the agricultural production should be reformed and the increasing of quantity and the raising of quality of the protein for feed should rely on planting agriculture. There were many successful experiences in reforming the quality of the protein for feedstuffs. For example, high-lysine corn, low-glucosinolate rape seed and glandless cotton seed, etc. For this purpose, the internal timprovement of the agricultural production is not only to solve the shortage of the protein for feed, but also to be a strategic behave for improving the f
