Xu Fei

Strategic Study of CAE 2015, Volume 17, Issue 4,   Pages 4-8

Abstract:

The paper elaborates the important practical and strategic significances of the globalization of China’s high-speed railway on China’s diplomacy, security, politics, economy and culture; and the three key strategic points must be emphasized. Furthermore , the paper analyzes the strategic opportunities and threatens facing to the globalization of China’s high-speed railway. Based on this, the paper put forwards to five strategic principles, including the layout importance, the timing urgency, the path feasibility, the regional difficulty and the railway interconnection. Furthermore, this paper makes following suggestions for the globalization strategy of China’s high-speed railway: integrating strategy implementations, rallying industry forces, constructing the training systems, building national research centers and innovating investment and financing.

Research on the dynamic interactive management theory of high-speed rail station projects

Zheng Jian

Strategic Study of CAE 2011, Volume 13, Issue 8,   Pages 31-35

Abstract:

As an inevitable product of the sustainable development of national social-economy, high-speed rail and its stations will undoubtedly facilitate the forming and development of regional economy integration process as well as metropolis, thus stimulating and supporting the socio-economic development. High-speed rail has ushered in a new era of great opportunities since the Sixteenth National Congress with 139 new stations for high-speed rail completed by March 2011, like Beijing South Station, Wuhan Station, Guangzhou South Station, Shanghai Hongqiao Station and etc. The paper analyzes the interaction between high-speed rail station and social-economy and proposes the project and project portfolio dynamic interactive model and management theory taking social-economic development evolving regularities as its guiding strategy, offering theoretical basis for formulating the strategic goal system of high-speed rail station projects as well as program and single project management.

The rise of high-throughput computing None

Frontiers of Information Technology & Electronic Engineering 2018, Volume 19, Issue 10,   Pages 1245-1250 doi: 10.1631/FITEE.1800501

Abstract:

In recent years, the advent of emerging computing applications, such as cloud computing, artificial intelligence, and the Internet of Things, has led to three common requirements in computer system design: high utilization, high throughput, and low latency. Herein, these are referred to as the requirements of ‘high-throughput computing (HTC)’. We further propose a new indicator called ‘sysentropy’ for measuring the degree of chaos and uncertainty within a computer system. We argue that unlike the designs of traditional computing systems that pursue high performance and low power consumption, HTC should aim at achieving low sysentropy. However, from the perspective of computer architecture, HTC faces two major challenges that relate to (1) the full exploitation of the application’s data parallelism and execution concurrency to achieve high throughput, and (2) the achievement of low latency, even in the cases at which severe contention occurs in data paths with high utilization. To overcome these two challenges, we introduce two techniques: on-chip data flow architecture and labeled von Neumann architecture. We build two prototypes that can achieve high throughput and low latency, thereby significantly reducing sysentropy.

Strategic Study of CAE 2009, Volume 11, Issue 1,   Pages 26-31

Abstract:

Based on engineering practice in Beijing-Shanghai high speed railway, effect to concrete workability, meachincal performance, and durability of mineral admixtures are studied, at the same time the preparing technology of high performance concrete with high-volume supplemementary cementitious materials are studied. Combining with pracitce engineering, control technology of raw materials, design of mixing proporation and construction for high performance concrete with high-volume supplemementary cementitious materials are introduced.

Conversion Mechanism of Biomass to Nano Zero-Valent Iron Biochar: Iron Phase Transfer and In situ Reduction Article

Shengnan Zhuo, Hongyu Ren, Guojun Xie, Defeng Xing, Bingfeng Liu

Engineering 2023, Volume 21, Issue 2,   Pages 124-134 doi: 10.1016/j.eng.2021.07.012

Abstract:

Nano zero-valent iron biochar (nZVI–BC), an environmentally-friendly functional material prepared from waste biomass, has attracted extensive attention. This material has potential to solve the problem of biomass conversion. However, the lack of a method of converting biomass to the nZVI–BC involved in biomass modification and pyrolysis hinders its further production and application. In this study, we introduced the green solvent polyethylene glycol 400 (PEG400) to a biomass (rice straw, RS) modification system with FeCl3·6H2O, and activated RS was prepared to nZVI–BC by one-step pyrolysis. The addition of PEG400 promoted the hydrolysis of iron ion and improved the RS surface structure, promoting the attachment of Fe2O3 to the RS surface. The mild activation conditions with temperatures of 60, 80, 100 °C and a time of 0.5 h prevented the excessive loss of the lignin component and were conducive to the formation of carbon skeletons. Amorphous carbon and Fe2O3 were subjected to redox reactions to form nZVI–BC with the assistance of reducing gas produced from pyrolysis. In addition, the prepared nZVI–BC was tested for dye (Congo red) removal, showing rapid absorption (70.6% at 5 min) and high catalysis in advanced oxidation (75.67% at 5 min, 90% at 60 min). This work proposed a novel mechanistic strategy for preparing nZVI–BC and set a foundation for its scaled production and application.

Strategic Study of CAE 2020, Volume 22, Issue 4,   Pages 106-113 doi: 10.15302/J-SSCAE-2020.04.005

Abstract:

Internet Plus New Infrastructure is a key component of the Internet Plus initiative. This study analyzes the demand, development status, and problems regarding the Internet Plus New Infrastructure mode, and proposes that establishing the Internet Plus New Infrastructure mode requires addressing the effective aggregation, integration, and application of massive data and ensuring realtime processing and response with high concurrency, low latency, and high security and reliability of network services. This study also demonstrates the typical construction path for constructing the Internet Plus New Infrastructure mode, that is, to address the efficient integration and effective use of city data through the construction of data middle offices and to provide both high-throughput and high quality services through the “information high-speed rail stations.” The concepts and technical essentials of the data middle offices and information high-speed rail stations are analyzed, which are the core infrastructures of the Internet Plus initiative. To promote the Internet Plus initiative in China, countermeasures and suggestions for the construction of the Internet Plus New Infrastructure mode in cities are proposed from the perspective of planning, policy implementation, and flexible operating models.

A Discussion on Some Critical Issues of Metro Network Planning

Quan Yongshen

Strategic Study of CAE 2000, Volume 2, Issue 4,   Pages 75-82

Abstract:

Many cities in China are now experiencing the booming period of metro construction. A critical and urgent problem is how to work out a sound network planning for the metro system before the concrete line implementation. Based on the experiences of metro network planning in China these years, the paper intends to explore some critical issues in this field. That includes the reasoning of the rational scale of the metro system, the spacial form and framework planning and the integration of the metro system with other public transport systems in the city.
