A new auxiliary information based cumulative sum median control chart for location monitoring Regular Papers

Shahid HUSSAIN, Li-xin SONG, Shabbir AHMAD, Muhammad RIAZ

Frontiers of Information Technology & Electronic Engineering 2019, Volume 20, Issue 4,   Pages 554-570 doi: 10.1631/FITEE.1700428

Abstract:

Control charts are commonly used tools in statistical process control for the detection of shifts in process parameters. Shewhart-type charts are efficient for large shift values, whereas cumulative sum (CUSUM) charts are effective in detecting medium and small shifts. Control chart use commonly assumes that data are free of outliers and parameters are known or correctly estimated based on an in-control process. In practice, these assumptions are not often true because some processes occasionally have outliers. Monitoring the location parameter is usually based on mean charts, which are seriously affected by violations of these assumptions. In this paper we propose several CUSUM median control charts based on auxiliary variables, and offer comparisons with their corresponding mean control charts. To monitor the location parameter, we examined the performance of mean and median control charts in the presence and absence of outliers. Both symmetric and non-symmetric processes were studied to examine the properties of the proposed control charts to monitor the location parameter using CUSUM control charts. We used different run length measures to study in-control and out-of-control performances of CUSUM charts. Results revealed that our proposed control charts perform much better than the traditional charts in the presence of outliers. A real application of our study was provided using data on concrete compressive strength as it relates to the quality of cement manufacturing.

Abstract: As the fifth-generation (5G) mobile communication system is being commercialized, extensive studies on the evolution of 5G and sixth-generation (6G) mobile communication systems have been conducted. Future mobile communication systems are evidently evolving toward a more intelligent and software-reconfigurable functionality paradigm that can provide ubiquitous communication, as well as sense, control, and optimize wireless environments. Thus, integrating communication and localization using the highly directional transmission characteristics of millimeter waves (mmWaves) is a promising route. This approach not only expands the localization capabilities of a communication system but also provides new concepts and opportunities to enhance communication. In this paper, we explain the in mmWave systems, in which these processes share the same set of hardware architecture and algorithms. We also provide an overview of the key enabling technologies and the basic knowledge on localization. Then, we provide two promising directions for studies on localization with an and model-based (or model-driven) . We also discuss a comprehensive guidance for location-assisted mmWave communications in terms of channel estimation, channel state information feedback, beam tracking, synchronization, interference control, resource allocation, and user selection. Finally, we outline the future trends on the mutual assistance and enhancement of communication and localization in integrated systems.

Abstract:

The rapid development of the third-generation semiconductor materials represented by SiC and GaN offers China a strategic opportunity to realize the independent control over its advanced semiconductor materials and auxiliary materials sector and to ensure the security of relevant industrial systems. In this paper, we analyze the development status of semiconductor materials and auxiliary materials in China and abroad, propose the idea of systematic, upstream–downstream coordinated, and sustainable development, and set the development goals for these materials by 2025 and 2035. To promote the development of advanced semiconductor materials and auxiliary materials in China, we suggest the establishment of a project for realizing independent control over key material and equipment of integrated circuit; a platform that provides integrated tests for SiC and GaN semiconductor materials, auxiliary materials, processes, and equipment; and application demonstration projects for advanced semiconductor materials in the fifth-generation mobile communication, energy internet, and new energy vehicle fields. Demand analysis regarding these projects is conducted and specific project objectives and tasks are proposed correspondingly. To promote the innovative development of the semiconductor industry,China should adhere to government guidance to facilitate the integration of domestic advantageous resources, grasp the “More Than Moore” opportunity of to lay out the next-generation integrated circuit technologies, and construct an innovation chain to further improve the innovation ecology.

Strategic Study of CAE 2008, Volume 10, Issue 11,   Pages 37-42

Abstract:

Fire design is the basis of quantitative evaluation in performance-based fire design, which includes the determination of fire location and heat release rate (HRR). Take large-scale exhibition hall for example, utilizing fire radiation model and smoke radiation model and combining the simulate result of CFAST 6.0, analysis of fire grown situation is taken with different fire locations in large space. Research reveals: only considering fire radiation, when fire develops in a location of bilateral symmetry, fire grows faster with HRR peak values are larger and the time of attain HRR peak value earlier and duration time are shorter than others. Thereinto, fire grow fastest when fire develops in the location of center symmetry. Moreover, combining fire radiation and smoke radiation, HRR peak values consumedly increases and almost the same in each scenarios. But other rules, which contain fire growth and the correlative time, when considering fire radiation and smoke radiation, is the same as the situation of just considering fire radiation.

Initial position estimation strategy for a surface permanent magnet synchronous motor used in hybrid electric vehicles Article

Bing TIAN,Qun-tao AN,Li SUN,Dong-yang SUN,Jian-dong DUAN

Frontiers of Information Technology & Electronic Engineering 2016, Volume 17, Issue 8,   Pages 803-813 doi: 10.1631/FITEE.1500298

Abstract: A novel nonlinear model for surface permanent magnet synchronous motors (SPMSMs) is adopted to estimate the initial rotor position for hybrid electric vehicles (HEVs). Usually, the accuracy of initial rotor position estimation for SPMSMs relies on magnetic saturation. To verify the saturation effect, the transient finite element analysis (FEA) model is presented first. Hybrid injection of a static voltage vector (SVV) superimposed with a high-frequency rotating voltage is proposed. The magnetic polarity is roughly identified with the aid of the saturation evaluation function, based on which an estimation of the position is performed. During this procedure, a special demodulation is suggested to extract signals of iron core saturation and rotor position. A Simulink/MATLAB platform for SPMSMs at standstill is constituted, and the effectiveness of the proposed strategy is verified. The proposed method is also validated by experimental results of an SPMSM drive.

Engineering 2023, Volume 22, Issue 3,   Pages 94-105 doi: 10.1016/j.eng.2022.07.013

Abstract:

In this paper, the novel design mode of human-aided design (HAD) is proposed to replace conventional computer-aided design (CAD). In HAD, computers can automatically complete the whole product design via a new isogeometric topology optimization (ITO), while humans just assist to slightly modify the design to meet requirements. An embedded domain ITO is presented to design complex models with irregular design domains, and editable geometric models of optimized results can be automatically generated based on layered ITO results. Three examples are tested to verify the proposed HAD mode, including a 3D cantilever beam with a regular design domain, an automotive part with an irregular design domain, and a Messerschmitt-Bölkow-Blohm (MBB) beam with a multiscale structure. The results demonstrate that the proposed HAD mode can automatically deliver high-quality optimized models; thus, it has great potential as a revolutionary technology to change the current design mode from CAD to HAD.

A locality-based replication manager for data cloud Article

Reza SOOKHTSARAEI,Javad ARTIN,Ali GHORBANI,Ahmad FARAAHI,Hadi ADINEH

Frontiers of Information Technology & Electronic Engineering 2016, Volume 17, Issue 12,   Pages 1275-1286 doi: 10.1631/FITEE.1500391

Abstract: Efficient data management is a key issue for environments distributed on a large scale such as the data cloud. This can be taken into account by replicating the data. The replication of data reduces the time of service and the delay in availability, increases the availability, and optimizes the distribution of load in the system. It is worth mentioning, however, that with the replication of data, the use of resources and energy increases due to the storing of copies of the data. We suggest a replication manager that decreases the cost of using resources, energy, and the delay in the system, and also increases the availability of the system. To reach this aim, the suggested replication manager, called the locality replication manager (LRM), works by using two important algorithms that use the physical adjacency feature of blocks. In addition, a set of simulations are reported to show that LRM can be a suitable option for distributed systems as it uses less energy and resources, optimizes the distribution of load, and has more availability and less delay.

Abstract:

For reducing heavy oil thermal cost, development scheme such as producing steam by burning crude oil to achieve heavy oil need to change. Also we need to reduce formation damage, so we launched hot dry rock(HDR) assisted oil recovery feasibility study. HDR assisted oil recovery extracted heat reservoir of underground thermal energy by hot dry rock to reduce oil viscosity and improve oil mobility. The technical support facilities regardless of drilling deep or heavy oil thermal recovery technologies are mature. HDR heat from geotherm in core-mantle boundary, were widely distributed, clean and renewable. Studies have shown that hot dry rock assisted oil recovery technology had strong pertinence and effectively inherited cyclic steam injection and steam drive technology, and technically feasible. So it may promote the development of related technology and is in line with China's basic national policy of saving energy and emission reduction. It is advised that hot dry rock assisted oil recovery pilot test should be carried out firstly in the favorable block.

Strategic Study of CAE 2018, Volume 20, Issue 2,   Pages 86-91 doi: 10.15302/J-SSCAE-2018.02.013

Abstract:

The integration, open accessing of healthcare data, and the use of artificial intelligence to organize and analyze fragmented medical information can improve medical and health services, promote the level of rational government decision-making, and reduce the inequality in the allocation of medical and health resources. This paper summarizes the current status of technologies and applications of artificial intelligence in the field of medical information semantic fusion and in the field of image analysis, and analyzes current problems and challenges. The first is the standardized representation and structural integration of medical information to merge national and widely-used clinical terminologies, which is key to realizing auxiliary diagnosis based on ‘big data’ artificial intelligent. The second is the use of massive medical knowledge to construct an intelligent diagnosis and treatment model with the ability to combine multimodal data analysis and structured knowledge reasoning. Thus, we propose a national-level healthcare open data cloud platform that can help open up new data markets, improve the integration of healthcare data, and provide the new service of knowledge discovery and services. We also suggest to establish some basic industry standards for medical and health information, to strengthen the research and development of domestic medical devices, to promote the development of intelligent medical devices and smart wearable devices, and to guide the industry to open up new markets on the combination of artificial intelligence and medical devices.

Abstract:

Terahertz (THz) technology is probably best known to the public as a powerful tool for imaging, since it has been applied in security and medical scanning, resulting in numerous impressive images that would be unobtainable using other technologies. With the roll-out of 5G mobile networks, research into 6G wireless communications is heating up. It is envisioned that THz technology will be used for 6G and future wireless communications. In this paper, we review how THz technology has been employed for imaging and wireless communications, identify state-of-the-art developments in the field, and then examine and compare common devices and issues in both applications. The possibility of integrating THz imaging/sensing and wireless communications is considered, and challenges and future perspectives are presented and discussed. It is shown that THz technology is indeed a key enabling technology for both imaging and wireless communications in the future.
