Modern diesel engine technology for passenger cars

Abstract:

There are some dominant factors which affect the technology development of diesel engines, including market requirement, emission regulation, fuel economy, customer satisfaction and cost. In the above aspects, modern diesel engines have advantages over gasoline engines, therefore advanced diesel technology is an important direction for passenger car engines. At present there is a visible gap in the diesel engine technology for passenger cars between China and foreign developed countries. In order to realize independent development of advanced diesel engines with low fuel consumption and pollutant emissions, and meet the need of the future passenger car market in China, it becomes urgent to break through the difficulties in the technology of modern diesel engines, such as high-efficient and clean combustion, electronic controlled fuel injection, engine management, engine and vehicle calibration,etc.

Abstract: 针对固有时间尺度分解算法的模态混叠问题和最小二乘支持向量机的参数优化问题,本文提出了一种新的基于完备集合固有时间尺度分解和混合差分进化和粒子群算法优化最小二乘支持向量机的柴油故障诊断方法。随后,利用完备集合固有时间尺度分解算法将非平稳的柴油振动信号分解为一系列平稳的旋转分量和残差信号。仿真和实验结果表明提出的故障诊断方法可以克服固有时间尺度分解的模态混叠问题,而且能够准确的识别柴油故障。

Design of an Automatic Test System for Diesel Inlet Swirl and Evaluation Methods

Abstract:

  Swirl is a key parameter that directly influences the efficiency and exhaust property of diesel engine. And it is usually measured and valued by a steady flow test system in designing and development process. This paper firstly presented the scheme of a highly automatic steady test bench, on which the valve lift and test pressure are all computer-controlled. Then it reviewed the varied measuring and analysis methods, and performed some corresponding experiments on the bench. The experiment results show that even under the same test condition,  the results are different if using different measuring or calculating techniques, which should be noticed in the comparison.

Abstract:

The current situation of research, application and development of bio-diesel industry all over the world is reviewed in this article, and the problem in the preparation and application of bio-diesel is analyzed. The importance of bio-diesel industry to the national petroleum supply, national economy and re-adjustment of agriculture industry is discussed. The prospect and development pattern of bio-diesel industry in China are pointed out as well.

The Parameter Analysis of the Process in Cylinder for Light Oil-based Fuel in Gasoline Engine

Abstract:

A kind of new fuel suitable for gasoline engine is developed in this paper. To check its quality, a series of tests on process parameter in cylinder are done. The test results show that the power of engine with light oil-based fuel is close to that with gasoline and the standard errors of process parameter in cylinder with light oil-based fuel are lower than that with gasoline. This proves that the light oil-based fuel has good quality and is suitable for gasoline engine.

The author pointed out the way to solve the matter in production of biodiesel, presented a process enhancement technology and equipment, discussed the feasibility and advantage of the process enhancement technology and equipment in production of biodiesel, and considered that the process enhancement technology and equipment would be the key to overcome the obstacle in the research and development of biodiesel.

Perspective of Biodiesel Industry in China

Abstract:

Biodiesel derives itself from renewable resources such as oils and fats. As an alternative fuel, biodiesel is attractive owing to its less exhaust emission, good lubricant performance, fully degradation ability, etc. However, its high cost is an obstacle to the development. This review aims to probe into the possibility of the manufacture of biodiesel in large scale as an alternative fuel and organic commodity chemicals, in which some factors including the feedstock of biodiesel production in China, the processing technology with china´s own independent intellectual property and the development of high added-value derived products from biodiesel are discussed. It is emphasized that the advanced technology conforming with Chinese situation is essential to make this new industry competitive.

Application of transesterification for the production of biodiesel

Abstract:

Biodiesel, an diesel alternative fuel. has attracted much attention because of its environmental benefits and renewability. Several transesterafication methods can be used to produce biodiesel, such as, homogeneous acid/base catalysis, lipase-catalyzed reaction, supercritical method and solid acid/base catalysis. However each method has its advantages and disadvantages. Homogeneous acid/base catalysis is very fast and with high efficiency, but down-stream product is difficult to purify and with significant pollution; Lipase-catalyzed reaction can take place in mild conditions and do not need excess methanol. It is not sensitive to water and free fatty acids, and the down-stream process is easy. But Lipase is too expensive which blocks its commercial use. Supercritical method is a new technology that is fast, and do not need catalyst. It has high conversion efficiency, but it requires high temperature and high pressure, and so high energy consumption, therefore is not cost effective. Solid acid/base catalyst, which can be recycled, has less causticity and without pollution. The down-stream product is easy to separate, which has less impaction on the environment. Supported solid base catalysis will be the main trend for biodiesel preparation by transesterification.

Perspective of biodiesel industry in China

Abstract:

The status of biodiesel industry in U.S.A, EU and China are reviewed. The problems related to the feedstock supply and economic feasibility are discussed. It is proposed that waste vegetable oil and animal fats should be used to speed up the development of biodiesel industry, and simultaneously the utilization of biodiesel and glycerine to produce high-value chemicals should be made to improve the profits.

Abstract:

Using patented nature carboxylate and its modification as the major surfactant, we obtained compounded nonionic surfactant by the interaction parameter βm. Then we measured the pseudo ternary phase diagram of compounded surfactants/water/diesel oil, from which got three cheap and efficient diesel oil emulsifier. The emulsifier includes little flame accelerator,cetane improver and smoke suppressor. Through the bench test, we found that the average rate of economizing petrol was 20 % and the emissions of NOx dropped to 20 %. And every ton of emulsified diesel oil can save 500 yuan around.

Development of Fuel/Engine Systems—The Way Forward to Sustainable Transport Review

Abstract:

The global demand for transport energy is large, growing, and primarily met by petroleum-derived liquid fuels powering internal combustion engines (ICEs). Moreover, the demand for jet fuel and diesel is projected to grow faster than the demand for gasoline in the future, and is likely to result in low-octane gasoline components becoming more readily available. Significant initiatives with varying motivations are taking place to develop the battery electric vehicle (BEV) and the fuel cell as alternatives to ICE vehicles, and to establish fuels such as biofuels and natural gas as alternatives to conventional liquid fuels. However, each of these alternatives starts from a very low base and faces significant barriers to fast and unrestrained growth; thus, transport—and particularly commercial transport—will continue to be largely powered by ICEs running on petroleum-based liquid fuels for decades to come. Hence, the sustainability of transport in terms of affordability, energy security, and impact on greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions and air quality can only be ensured by improving ICEs. Indeed, ICEs will continue to improve while using current market fuels, through improvements in combustion, control, and after-treatment systems, assisted by partial electrification in the form of hybridization. However, there is even more scope for improvement through the development of fuel/engine systems that can additionally leverage benefits in fuels manufacture and use components that may be readily available. Gasoline compression ignition (GCI), which uses low-octane gasoline in a compression ignition engine, is one such example. GCI would enable diesel-like efficiencies while making it easier to control nitrogen oxides (NOx) and particulates at a lower cost compared with modern diesel engines. Octane on demand (OOD) also helps to ensure optimum use of available fuel anti-knock quality, and thus improves the overall efficiency of the system.

Ignition of Diesel by Heated Surface

Abstract:

The ignition of leaked fuel of the diesel engine is studied experimentally. The critical ignition temperature is calculated statistically. The difference between the ignition temperature and auto - ignition temperature of diesel is much less than that of other fuels. The ignition mode is also much different from its counterpart. The paper describes the detailed boiling mode of the leaked fuel on a hot surface. The equation to get the mass flux of the fuel vapor is given.
