Hongchen Chen, Haoshen Zhu, Liang Wu, Wenquan Che, Quan Xue,hongdoublechen@gmail.com,zhuhs@scut.edu.cn,wuliang@cuhk.edu.cn,eewqche@scut.edu.cn,eeqxue@scut.edu.cn

Frontiers of Information Technology & Electronic Engineering 2021, Volume 22, Issue 4,   Pages 586-598 doi: 10.1631/FITEE.2000510

Abstract: A 9.8–30.1 GHz (LNA) with a 3.2-dB minimum noise figure (NF) is presented. At the architecture level, a topology based on (CG) cascading with a common-source (CS) amplifier is proposed for simultaneous wideband input matching and relatively high gain. At the circuit level, multiple techniques are proposed to improve LNA performance. First, in the CG stage, loading effect is properly used instead of the conventional feedback technique, to enable simultaneous impedance and noise matching. Second, based on in-depth theoretical analysis, the inductor- and -based techniques are employed for the CG and CS stages, respectively, to enhance the gain and reduce power consumption. Third, the floating-body method, which was originally proposed to lower NF in CS amplifiers, is adopted in the CG stage to further reduce NF. Fabricated in a 65-nm technology, the LNA chip occupies an area of only 0.2 mm and measures a maximum power gain of 10.9 dB with −3 dB bandwidth from 9.8 to 30.1 GHz. The NF exhibits a minimum value of 3.2 dB at 15 GHz and is below 5.7 dB across the entire bandwidth. The LNA consumes 15.6 mW from a 1.2-V supply.

Application of the Chemical-Looping Concept for Azoetrope Separation Article

Xin Gao, Xueli Geng

Engineering 2021, Volume 7, Issue 1,   Pages 84-93 doi: 10.1016/j.eng.2020.06.022

Abstract:

The need for the separation of azeotropic mixtures for the production of high-end chemicals and resource recovery has spurred significant research into the development of new separation methods in the chemical industry. In this paper, a green and sustainable method for azeotrope separation is proposed based on a chemical-looping concept with the help of reversible-reaction-assisted distillation. The central concept in the chemical-looping separation (CLS) method is the selection of a reactant that can react with the azeotrope components and can also be recycled by the reverse reaction to close the loop and achieve cyclic azeotrope separation. This paper aims to provide an informative perspective on the fundamental theory and applications of the CLS method based on the separation principle, reactant selection, and case analysis, for example, the separation of alkenes, alkane, aromatics, and polyol products. In summary, we provide guidance and references for chemical separation process intensification in product refining and separation from azeotropic systems for the development of a more sustainable chemical industry.

Planar dual-polarized millimeter-wave shared-aperture array antenna with high band isolation Correspondence

Yuyan CAO, Zijun GUO, Zhangcheng HAO

Frontiers of Information Technology & Electronic Engineering 2022, Volume 23, Issue 10,   Pages 1568-1578 doi: 10.1631/FITEE.2200122

Abstract:

A planar millimeter-wave shared-aperture array antenna is proposed and designed in this paper. By composing the substrate integrated waveguide (SIW) and the stripline, the K-band antenna is embedded inside the Ka-band antenna to achieve a smaller size and a low profile by sharing an aperture. The Ka-band antenna radiates through the parallel slot pairs on the surface of the SIW cavities with horizontal polarization, while the K-band antenna radiates through the butterfly-shaped slots with vertical polarization, which are also designed on the surface. Then the two array antennas can radiate by sharing a common aperture with high isolation. To verify this idea, a prototype of an 8×8 shared-aperture array antenna has been designed with center frequencies of 19 and 30 GHz and fabricated using multilayer printed circuit board (PCB) technology. The measurement results show that the −10 dB impedance bandwidths in the K- and Ka-bands are 7.73% and >20%, and the corresponding isolations are higher than 60 and 44 dB, respectively. The proposed shared-aperture antenna has a small footprint, a low profile, and high isolation, and is a promising candidate to design compact millimeterwave wireless systems.

Strategic Study of CAE 2016, Volume 18, Issue 3,   Pages 96-100 doi: 10.15302/J-SSCAE-2016.03.016

Abstract:

Paddy field fish culture is a traditional integrated aquaculture method. During the past few years, many new integrated rice-fish aquaculture modes focusing on high-valued aquatic species have been adopted and resulted in significant economic, social and ecological results. In order to extend the experiences of integrated rice-fish aquaculture, the author presented two typical approaches for integrated rice-fish aquaculture in Hubei Province. The crayfish-rice co-culture has an average net profit of over 3 000 RMB for per acre, which is 3~4 times the profit of single rice planting. The turtle-crayfish-fish-rice aquaculture has an average net profit of nearly 10 000 planting. This paper also puts forward some suggestions for strengthening the industry, including enlarging planting and farming space, promoting industrial convergence and strengthening policy support.

Frontiers of Information Technology & Electronic Engineering 2022, Volume 23, Issue 1,   Pages 158-170 doi: 10.1631/FITEE.2000504

Abstract: The input/output (I/O) pins of an industry-level fluorescent optical fiber temperature sensor readout circuit need on-chip integrated high-performance electro-static discharge (ESD) protection devices. It is difficult for the failure level of basic N-type buried layer gate-controlled silicon controlled rectifier (NBL-GCSCR) manufactured by the 0.18 μm standard bipolar- CMOS-DMOS (BCD) process to meet this need. Therefore, we propose an on-chip integrated novel deep N-well gate-controlled SCR (DNW-GCSCR) with a high failure level to effectively solve the problems based on the same semiconductor process. Technology computer-aided design (TCAD) simulation is used to analyze the device characteristics. SCRs are tested by transmission line pulses (TLP) to obtain accurate ESD parameters. The holding voltage (24.03 V) of NBL-GCSCR with the longitudinal bipolar junction transistor (BJT) path is significantly higher than the holding voltage (5.15 V) of DNW-GCSCR with the lateral SCR path of the same size. However, the failure current of the NBL-GCSCR device is 1.71 A, and the failure current of the DNW-GCSCR device is 20.99 A. When the gate size of DNW-GCSCR is increased from 2 μm to 6 μm, the holding voltage is increased from 3.50 V to 8.38 V. The optimized DNW-GCSCR (6 μm) can be stably applied on target readout circuits for on-chip electrostatic discharge protection.

Featurematching using quasi-conformalmaps Article

Chun-xue WANG, Li-gang LIU

Frontiers of Information Technology & Electronic Engineering 2017, Volume 18, Issue 5,   Pages 644-657 doi: 10.1631/FITEE.1500411

Abstract: We present a fully automatic method for finding geometrically consistent correspondences while discarding outliers from the candidate point matches in two images. Given a set of candidate matches provided by scale-invariant feature transform (SIFT) descriptors, which may contain many outliers, our goal is to select a subset of these matches retaining much more geometric information constructed by a mapping searched in the space of all diffeomorphisms. This problem can be formulated as a constrained optimization involving both the Beltrami coefficient (BC) term and quasi-conformal map, and solved by an efficient iterative algorithm based on the variable splitting method. In each iteration, we solve two subproblems, namely a linear system and linearly constrained convex quadratic programming. Our algorithm is simple and robust to outliers. We show that our algorithm enables producing more correct correspondences experimentally compared with state-of-the-art approaches.

Influence of motor cable on common-mode currents in an inverter-fed motor drive system None

Peng-kang XIE, Jia-zheng LU, Guo-zhu CHEN, Heng-lin CHEN

Frontiers of Information Technology & Electronic Engineering 2018, Volume 19, Issue 2,   Pages 273-284 doi: 10.1631/FITEE.1601518

Abstract: Induction motor drive systems fed by cables are widely used in industrial applications. However, high-frequency switching of power devices will cause common-mode (CM) voltages during operation, leading to serious CM currents in the motor drive systems. CM currents through the cables and motors in the drive systems can cause electromagnetic interference (EMI) with the surrounding electronic equipment and shorten the life of induction motors. Therefore, it is necessary to analyze the CM cur-rents in motor drive systems. In this paper, high-frequency models of unshielded and shielded power cables are formulated. The frequency-dependent effects and mutual inductances of the cables are taken into account. The power cable parameters are ex-tracted by the finite element method and validated by measurements. High-frequency models of induction motors and inverters are introduced from existing works. The CM currents at the motor and inverter terminals are obtained, and the influence of the cable length and cable type on the CM currents is analyzed. There is a good agreement between the experimental results and the CM currents predicted by the proposed models.

Strategic Study of CAE 2018, Volume 20, Issue 3,   Pages 102-108 doi: 10.15302/J-SSCAE-2018.03.015

Abstract:

In order to explore the synergetic effect and the variation of small molecule gas products in the co-pyrolysis process of main components of biomass with plastics , a thermogravimetry-mass spectrum (TG-MS) method was used to study the co-pyrolysis characteristics of cellulose, xylan, lignin with polyethylene. The blending ratio of each co-pyrolysis sample was 1∶1(w/w). The weight loss intervals of the single components and the mixed components were obtained by the TG experiment, and the theoretical and experimental values were obtained by fitting the TG data of the individual components. It can be confirmed that the synergetic effect exists in the process of co-pyrolysis , and this effect promotes the decomposition of the samples. MS experimental data shows that the presence of polyethylene could facilitate the decomposition of the biomass components and increase the yield of small molecule gas products during the process of co-pyrolysis. The production of H2O and CO2 in the small molecular products in the pyrolysis of cellulose with polyethylene was increased. The xylan and polyethylene will promote the decomposition of each other during the co-pyrolysis process, and the yield of H2O, CH4, H2 and C2H4 will be raised. The co-pyrolysis between lignin and polyethylene could promote the the yield of CO, C2H4 and H2.

Durability analysis of B grade steel side-frame based on the PFM method

Li Wei and Wang Ping

Strategic Study of CAE 2011, Volume 13, Issue 1,   Pages 56-61

Abstract:

Based on probabilistic fracture mechanics, the simulated durability test is performed to study the details with angle of side-frame of wagon bogie made of B grade steel. A new general computational method is proposed to evaluate the EIFS(equivalent initial flaw size) distribution, and the probabilistic crack exceedance model is established. The structural damage value is evaluated from the viewpoints of the survival probability P, stress level σ, crack initiation time t and economic maintenance limit ae, and the corresponding economic life is predicted according to the actual measured stress spectrum. As a result, the TTCI(time to crack initiation) can be better characterized by the three-parameter Weibull distribution, and the validity of general EIFS distribution parameters obtained by the new computational method are verified by the K-S checkout. Furthermore, the structural damage value is quantitatively evaluated by the probabilistic crack exceedance model. The predicted economic life tends to increase with the increasing of the crack exceedance probability, and the rationality and validity of the new computational method and probabilistic model are proved.

Disease Risk Comorbidity Index for Patients Receiving Haploidentical Allogeneic Hematopoietic Transplantation Article

Xiao-Dong Mo, Xiao-Hui Zhang, Lan-Ping Xu, Yu Wang, Chen-Hua Yan, Huan Chen, Yu-Hong Chen, Wei Han, Feng-Rong Wang, Jing-Zhi Wang, Kai-Yan Liu, Xiao-Jun Huang

Engineering 2021, Volume 7, Issue 2,   Pages 162-169 doi: 10.1016/j.eng.2020.12.005

Abstract:

We aimed to develop a disease risk comorbidity index (DRCI) based on disease risk index (DRI) and Hematopoietic Cell Transplantation-Specific Comorbidity Index (HCT-CI) in patients receiving haploidentical hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (haplo-HSCT). We identified the prognostic factors of disease-free survival (DFS) in a training subset (n = 593), then assigned a weighted score using these factors to the remaining patients (validation subset; n = 296). The multivariable model identified two independent predictors of DFS: DRI and HCT-CI before transplantation. In this scoring system, we assigned a weighted score of 2 to very high-risk DRI, and assigned a weighted score of 1 to high-risk DRI and intermediate- and high-risk HCT-CI (i.e., haplo-DRCI). In the validation cohort, the three-year DFS rate was 65.2% (95% confidence interval (CI), 58.2%–72.2%), 55.8% (95% CI, 44.9%–66.7%), and 32.0% (95% CI, 5.8%–58.2%) for the low-, intermediate-, and high-risk group, respectively (P = 0.005). Haplo-DRCI can also predict DFS in disease-specific subgroups, particularly in acute leukemia patients. Increasing score was also significantly predictive of increased relapse, increased non-relapse mortality (NRM), decreased DFS, and decreased overall survival (OS) in an independent historical cohort (n = 526). These data confirmed that haplo-DRCI could effectively risk stratify haplo-HSCT recipients and provide a tool to better predict who will best benefit from haplo-HSCT.
