Perspectives on cross-domain visual analysis of cyber-physical-social big data Perspective

Wei Chen, Tianye Zhang, Haiyang Zhu, Xumeng Wang, Yunhai Wang,cloudseawang@gmail.com

Frontiers of Information Technology & Electronic Engineering 2021, Volume 22, Issue 12,   Pages 1551-1684 doi: 10.1631/FITEE.2100553

Abstract: The domain of cyber-physical-social (CPS) big data is generally defined as the set consisting of all the elements in its defined domain, including domains of data, objects, tasks, application scenarios, and subjects. Visual analytics is an emerging human-in-the-loop big data analytics paradigm that can exploit human perception to enhance human cognitive efficiency. In this paper, we explore the perspectives on cross-domain visual analysis of CPS big data. We also highlight new challenges brought by the cross-domain nature of CPS big data—data, subject, and task domains—and propose a novel visual analytics model and a suite of approaches to address these challenges.

Filtering and tracking with trinion-valued adaptive algorithms Article

Xiao-ming GOU,Zhi-wen LIU,Wei LIU,You-gen XU

Frontiers of Information Technology & Electronic Engineering 2016, Volume 17, Issue 8,   Pages 834-840 doi: 10.1631/FITEE.1601164

Abstract: A new model for three-dimensional processes based on the trinion algebra is introduced for the first time. Compared to the pure quaternion model, the trinion model is more compact and computationally more efficient, while having similar or comparable performance in terms of adaptive linear filtering. Moreover, the trinion model can effectively represent the general relationship of state evolution in Kalman filtering, where the pure quaternion model fails. Simulations on real-world wind recordings and synthetic data sets are provided to demonstrate the potential of this new modeling method.

Reform of the Internal Quality of the Three Dimensions Structure Agricultural Pattern and the National People's Dietary Structure

Zhang Ziyi

Strategic Study of CAE 2000, Volume 2, Issue 8,   Pages 35-39

Abstract:

At the end of the 20th century Ministry of Agriculture of China put forward a strategic principle for agricultural development the main contents of which are paying equal attention to cereals crops, economic crops and feed crops. It stressed the importance of combination of agriculture and animal husbandry.

National dietary structure has had a great change in the past 20 years in China. It shows that the increasing quantity of meat, eggs and milk has been easing off the shortage of cereals. It´s estimated that there will be a shortage of 50% of protein for feed in the mid-long term for China to reache the leading level of the average per capita animal protein in the developing countries, especially the shortage of main limiting-amino acids, such as lysine and methionine, will be more critical. Considering the national conditions and strength, it is difficult to produce amino acids through the industrial way owing to the limitation of the investment, technique and ingredients. It is an effective way to solve the shortage of protein for feed that the internal quality of the agricultural production should be reformed and the increasing of quantity and the raising of quality of the protein for feed should rely on planting agriculture. There were many successful experiences in reforming the quality of the protein for feedstuffs. For example, high-lysine corn, low-glucosinolate rape seed and glandless cotton seed, etc. For this purpose, the internal timprovement of the agricultural production is not only to solve the shortage of the protein for feed, but also to be a strategic behave for improving the fd structure and the nutritive level for national people.

A novel ternary half adder and multiplier based on carbon nanotube field effect transistors Article

Sepehr TABRIZCHI,Nooshin AZIMI,Keivan NAVI

Frontiers of Information Technology & Electronic Engineering 2017, Volume 18, Issue 3,   Pages 423-433 doi: 10.1631/FITEE.1500366

Abstract: A lot of research has been done on multiple-valued logic (MVL) such as ternary logic in these years. MVL reduces the number of necessary operations and also decreases the chip area that would be used. Carbon nanotube field effect transistors (CNTFETs) are considered a viable alternative for silicon transistors (MOSFETs). Combining carbon nanotube transistors and MVL can produce a unique design that is faster and more flexible. In this paper, we design a new half adder and a new multiplier by nanotechnology using a ternary logic, which decreases the power consumption and chip surface and raises the speed. The presented design is simulated using CNTFET of Stanford University and HSPICE software, and the results are compared with those of other studies.

Jihong Chen, Jianzhong Yang, Huicheng Zhou, Hua Xiang, Zhihong Zhu, Yesong Li, Chen-Han Lee, Guangda Xu

Engineering 2015, Volume 1, Issue 2,   Pages 247-260 doi: 10.15302/J-ENG-2015054

Abstract:

Building cyber-physical system (CPS) models of machine tools is a key technology for intelligent manufacturing. The massive electronic data from a computer numerical control (CNC) system during the work processes of a CNC machine tool is the main source of the big data on which a CPS model is established. In this work-process model, a method based on instruction domain is applied to analyze the electronic big data, and a quantitative description of the numerical control (NC) processes is built according to the G code of the processes. Utilizing the instruction domain, a work-process CPS model is established on the basis of the accurate, real-time mapping of the manufacturing tasks, resources, and status of the CNC machine tool. Using such models, case studies are conducted on intelligent-machining applications, such as the optimization of NC processing parameters and the health assurance of CNC machine tools.

Strategic Study of CAE 2019, Volume 21, Issue 6,   Pages 114-119 doi: 10.15302/J-SSCAE-2019.10.001

Abstract:

The cyberspace has expanded from traditional internet to ubiquitous cyberspace which interconnects human, machines, things, services, and applications. The computing paradigm is also shifting from centralized computing in the cloud to combined computing in the front end, middle layer, and cloud. Therefore, traditional computing paradigms such as cloud computing and edge computing can no longer satisfy the evolving computing needs of big data in ubiquitous cyberspace. This paper presents a computing architecture named Fogcloud Computing for big data in ubiquitous cyberspace. Collaborative computing by multiple knowledge actors in the fog, middle layer, and cloud is realized based on the collaborative computing language and models, thereby providing a solution for big data computing in ubiquitous cyberspace.

Three-Dimensional Visualization and Analysis of Geoinformation in Hydroelectric Engineering

Liu Donghai,Zhong Denghua,Li Mingchao

Strategic Study of CAE 2004, Volume 6, Issue 5,   Pages 65-70

Abstract:

As the traditional description of engineering geoinformation is lack of visualization, and can not reveal the spatial tendency of geological structures very well, it is more and more difficult to meet the designers' demands for making geological spatial analysis. By using GIS and visualization techniques, a method of geological digital 3-D modeling and its visualization in hydroelectric engineering is presented in the paper, aiming at making the analysis of geoinformation visual. With an example of engineering application, it has been shown that the method gives an effective way to describe the spatial distribution of geological structures and their complex relationship so that the engineering design can be executed interactively and conveniently.

Liu Yufei, Zhou Yuan, Liao Ling

Strategic Study of CAE 2016, Volume 18, Issue 4,   Pages 121-128 doi: 10.15302/J-SSCAE-2016.04.018

Abstract:

As an innovative strategic management tool, technology foresight has received increasing interest. There is a large number of related scholarship on technology foresight and its application. The theoretical difficulty is how to conduct technology foresight for different kinds of emerging industries, especially for targeted types of industry innovation in a developing country. Delphi expert analysis is currently the most popular method for technology foresight. This method is undermined by a lack of reliabe and valid big data to support expert experience. The authors propose a new method for patent and technical document analysis for the use of technology foresight for China’s emerging industries.

Jia-zhi XIA, Yu-hong ZHANG, Hui YE, Ying WANG, Guang JIANG, Ying ZHAO, Cong XIE, Xiao-yan KUI, Sheng-hui LIAO, Wei-ping WANG

Frontiers of Information Technology & Electronic Engineering 2020, Volume 21, Issue 4,   Pages 507-523 doi: 10.1631/FITEE.1900532

Abstract: Cryptocurrencies represented by Bitcoin have fully demonstrated their advantages and great potential in payment and monetary systems during the last decade. The mining pool, which is considered the source of Bitcoin, is the cornerstone of market stability. The surveillance of the mining pool can help regulators effectively assess the overall health of Bitcoin and issues. However, the anonymity of mining-pool miners and the difficulty of analyzing large numbers of transactions limit in-depth analysis. It is also a challenge to achieve intuitive and comprehensive monitoring of multi-source heterogeneous data. In this study, we present SuPoolVisor, an interactive visual analytics system that supports surveillance of the mining pool and de-anonymization by visual reasoning. SuPoolVisor is divided into pool level and address level. At the pool level, we use a sorted stream graph to illustrate the evolution of computing power of pools over time, and glyphs are designed in two other views to demonstrate the influence scope of the mining pool and the migration of pool members. At the address level, we use a force-directed graph and a massive sequence view to present the dynamic address network in the mining pool. Particularly, these two views, together with the Radviz view, support an iterative visual reasoning process for de-anonymization of pool members and provide interactions for cross-view analysis and identity marking. Effectiveness and usability of SuPoolVisor are demonstrated using three cases, in which we cooperate closely with experts in this field.

Big data storage technologies: a survey Review

Aisha SIDDIQA, Ahmad KARIM, Abdullah GANI

Frontiers of Information Technology & Electronic Engineering 2017, Volume 18, Issue 8,   Pages 1040-1070 doi: 10.1631/FITEE.1500441

Abstract: There is a great thrust in industry toward the development of more feasible and viable tools for storing fast-growing volume, velocity, and diversity of data, termed ‘big data’. The structural shift of the storage mechanism from traditional data management systems to NoSQL technology is due to the intention of fulfilling big data storage requirements. However, the available big data storage technologies are inefficient to provide consistent, scalable, and available solutions for continuously growing heterogeneous data. Storage is the preliminary process of big data analytics for real-world applications such as scientific experiments, healthcare, social networks, and e-business. So far, Amazon, Google, and Apache are some of the industry standards in providing big data storage solutions, yet the literature does not report an in-depth survey of storage technologies available for big data, investigating the performance and magnitude gains of these technologies. The primary objective of this paper is to conduct a comprehensive investigation of state-of-the-art storage technologies available for big data. A well-defined taxonomy of big data storage technologies is presented to assist data analysts and researchers in understanding and selecting a storage mechanism that better fits their needs. To evaluate the performance of different storage architectures, we compare and analyze the existing approaches using Brewer’s CAP theorem. The significance and applications of storage technologies and support to other categories are discussed. Several future research challenges are highlighted with the intention to expedite the deployment of a reliable and scalable storage system.
