Hydrogen production by biomass gasification in supercritical or subcritical water with Raney-Ni and other

摘要: Gasification of peanut shell, sawdust and straw in supercritical or subcritical water has been studied in a batch reactor with the presence of a series of Raney-Ni and its mixture with ZnCl or Ca(OH). The main gas products were hydrogen, methane, carbon dioxide, and a small amount of carbon monoxide. Different types of Raney-Ni, containing different metal components such as Fe, Mo or Cr, have different influences on the gasification yield and hydrogen selectivity. The catalysis effect can be improved obviously by adding ZnCl or Ca(OH). Increasing the reaction temperature or adding ZnCl and Ca(OH) could improve the mass of H in gas products and reduce the mass of CH and CO at the same time. The possible mechanism is that ZnCl can decompose the biomass particle by accelerating cellulose hydrolyzation in high-temperature water, increasing more specific surface to admit catalysts, while Ca(OH) can absorb CO to produce CaCO deposit, which can drop out from the reactant system, and which will drive the reaction to get more hydrogen. With respect to the biomass conversion to gas product and selectivity of H at low temperature, the series of Raney-Ni has shown many advantages over other catalysts; thus, this kind of catalyst has great potential to be utilized in the hydrogen industry for the gasification of biomass.

Experimental research on catalysts and their catalytic mechanism for hydrogen production by gasification of peanut shell in supercritical water

摘要: Peanut shell, mixed with sodium carboxymethylcellulose, was gasified at a temperature of 450°C and a pressure range from 24 to 27 MPa with the presence of different catalysts, including KCO, ZnCl and Raney-Ni. The experimental results show that different catalysts have greatly different effects on the reaction. Gasification efficiency (GE), hydrogen gasification efficiency (GHE), carbon gasification efficiency (GCE), yield of hydrogen production ( ) and potential yield of hydrogen production () are applied to describe the catalytic efficiency. From the result of gaseous components, ZnCl has the highest hydrogen selectivity, KCO is lower, and Raney-Ni is the lowest, but Raney-Ni is the most favorable to gasify biomass among the three catalysts, and its , , reach 126.84%, 185.71%, 94.24%, respectively. As expected, hydrogen selectivity increased and CH reduced rapidly when the mixture of ZnCl and Raney-Ni is used under the same condition. The optimization mixture appeared when 0.2 g of ZnCl was added to 1 g of Raney-Ni, 43.56 g · kg of hydrogen pro duction was obtained. In addition, the catalytic mechanisms of different catalysts were analyzed, and the possible reaction pathway was brought forward, which helped to explain the experiment phenomena and results correctly.

The cooperation effect of Ni and Pt in the hydrogenation of acetic acid

摘要: The catalytic hydrogenation of carboxylic acid to alcohols is one of the important strategies for the conversion of biomass. Herein, a series of Ni-doped PtSn catalysts were prepared, characterized and studied in the hydrogenation of acetic acid. The Ni dopant has a strong interaction with Pt, which promotes the hydrogen adsorption, providing an activated hydrogen-rich environment for the hydrogenation. Meanwhile, the presence of Ni also improves the Pt dispersion, giving more accessible active sites for hydrogen activation. The cooperation of Pt and Ni significantly promotes the catalytic activity of the hydrogenation of acetic acid to ethanol. As a result, the catalyst with 0.1% Ni exhibits the best reaction activity, and its space time yield is twice as that of the PtSn/SiO2 catalyst. It provides a meaningful instruction on the catalyst design for the carboxylic acid hydrogenation.

Catalytic hydrolysis of gaseous HCN over Cu–Ni/γ-Al

摘要: ? The Cu–Ni/γ-Al O catalyst was prepared to study HCN hydrolysis ? On catalyst calcined at 400°C, the HCN removal efficiency reaches a maximum. ? HCN removal is the highest at 480 min at a H O/HCN volume ratio of 150 ? The presence of CO facilitates HCN hydrolysis and increases NH production. ? O increases the HCN removal and NO production but decreases NH production GRAPHIC ABSTRACT To decompose efficiently hydrogen cyanide (HCN) in exhaust gas, g-Al O -supported bimetallic-based Cu–Ni catalyst was prepared by incipient-wetness impregnation method. The effects of the calcination temperature, H O/HCN volume ratio, reaction temperature, and the presence of CO or O on the HCN removal efficiency on the Cu–Ni/g-Al O catalyst were investigated. To examine further the efficiency of HCN hydrolysis, degradation products were analyzed. The results indicate that the HCN removal efficiency increases and then decreases with increasing calcination temperature and H O/HCN volume ratio. On catalyst calcined at 400°C, the efficiency reaches a maximum close to 99% at 480 min at a H O/HCN volume ratio of 150. The HCN removal efficiency increases with increasing reaction temperature within the range of 100°C–500°C and reaches a maximum at 500°C. This trend may be attributed to the endothermicity of HCN hydrolysis; increasing the temperature favors HCN hydrolysis. However, the removal efficiencies increases very few at 500°C compared with that at 400°C. To conserve energy in industrial operations, 400°C is deemed as the optimal reaction temperature. The presence of CO facilitates HCN hydrolysis andincreases NH production. O substantially increases the HCN removal efficiency and NO production but decreases NH production.

Pt-Ni nanourchins as electrocatalysts for oxygen reduction reaction

摘要: Pt-Ni bimetallic alloys with various nanostructures have shown excellent activity toward oxygen reduction reaction (ORR). The ORR activity is highly dependent on the structure of the catalyst. In this paper, Pt-Ni nanourchins were synthesized with an average size of 50 nm consisting of 10–20 nanorods and nanooctahedra by adjusting the synthesis condition. The formation of Pt-Ni nanourchins is mainly dependent on the adding order of solvents (benzyl ether, oleylamine and oleic acid). Pt-Ni nanourchins present a reasonable high ORR activity (0.81 A/mg at 0.9 V).

Emergy evaluation of polygeneration systems

摘要: To expand the application range of the emergy evaluation method, an emergy evaluation index, which can reflect the particular feature of polygeneration systems, has been elaborated on the basis of energy and emergy conservation, guided by the fundamental principle of emergy analysis. With this index, the cost structure, emission effect and energy saved were all considered on the same level of importance. To exemplify, some power polygeneration systems (methanol-power generation, hydrogen-power generation) are considered using coal as the basic fuel. The results showed that emergy evaluation indices are practical for comprehensively evaluating polygeneration systems and their sustainability, which is influenced by such factors as the joining mode of polygeneration and the technologies used. The sustainability of polygeneration systems, which work on an appropriate ratio of fuel-to-electric power basis, is higher than that of singular production systems.

Removal of Ni(II) ions from wastewater by micellar enhanced ultrafiltration using mixed surfactants

摘要: Ni(II) ions were removed from aqueous waste using micellar enhanced ultrafiltration (MEUF) with a mixture of surfactants. The surfactant mixture was the nonionic surfactant Tween 80 (TW80) mixed with the anionic surfactant sodium dodecyl sulfate (SDS) in different molar ratios ranging from 0.1–1.5. The operational variables of the MEUF process such as pH, applied pressure, surfactant to metal ion ratio and nonionic to ionic surfactant molar ratio (α) were evaluated. Rejection of Ni and TW80 was 99% and 98% respectively whereas that for SDS was 65%. The flux and all resistances (fouling resistance, resistance due to concentration polarization) were measured and calculated for entire range of α respectively. A calculated flux was found to be declined with time, which was mainly attributed to concentration polarization rather than resistance from membrane fouling.

Reductive amination of -hexanol to -hexylamine over Ni–Ce/-AlO catalysts

摘要: The amination of alkyl alcohols is one of the most promising paths in synthesis of aliphatic amines. Herein, cerium doped nickel-based catalysts were synthesized and tested in a gas-phase amination of n-hexanol to n-hexylamine. It was found that the activity of the Ni/γ-Al2O3 catalyst is significantly improved by doping an appropriate amount of cerium. The presence of cerium effectively inhibits the agglomeration of nickel particle, resulting in better Ni dispersion. As Ni particle size plays critical role on the catalytic activity, higher turnover frequency of n-hexanol amination was achieved. Cerium doping also improves the reduction ability of nickel and enhances the interactions between Ni and the catalyst support. More weak acid sites were also found in those cerium doped catalysts, which promote another key step—ammonia dissociative adsorption in this reaction system. The overall synergy of Ni nanoparticles and acid sites of this Ni–Ce/γ-Al2O3 catalyst boosts its superior catalytic performance in the amination of n-hexanol.

Dilution rate and microstructure of TIG arc Ni-Al powder surfacing layer

摘要: Surfacing beads are prepared by a direct current tungsten inert gas arc nickel-aluminum (Ni-Al) powder surfacing process. With the aim of controlling the dilution rate and obtaining surfacing beads rich in intermetallic compounds, the effects of surfacing parameters on geometric parameters, dilution rate, composition, and microstructure of the bead are investigated. An assistant cooler, which can potentially reduce the temperature of the base metal, is used in the surfacing process and its effect on dilution rate and microstructure is studied. The result indicates that with the surfacing parameter combination of low current and speed, the width and penetration of the bead decrease, reinforcement increases, and dilution rate drops markedly. With the reduction of the parameter combination, the intergranular phase ?-(Fe, Ni) is formed in the grain boundaries of Ni-Al intermetallic matrix instead of the intergranular phase ?-Fe, and large amount of intermetallics are obtained. With the use of an assistant cooler on a selected operation condition during the surfacing process, the reinforcement of the bead increases, penetration decreases, and dilution rate declines. The use of an assistant cooler helps obtain a surfacing bead composed of only intermetallics.

Stability of Ni/SiO

摘要: Ni/SiO -ZrO catalysts with Ni loadings of 1 to 13 wt-% were prepared, characterized by elemental analysis, X-ray diffraction, N sorption, temperature programmed oxidation, temperature programmed reduction, and tested for their activity and stability in the dry reforming of methane with carbon dioxide at 850 °C, gas hourly space velocity of 6000 and 1800 h and atmospheric pressure. The SiO -ZrO support as obtained through a simple and efficient sol-gel synthesis is highly porous ( = 90 m ·g , = 4.4 nm) with a homogeneously distributed Si-content of 3 wt-%. No loss of Si or formation of monoclinic ZrO , even after steaming at 850 °C for 160 h, was detectable. The catalyst with 5 wt-% Ni loading in its fully reduced state is stable over 15?h on-stream in the dry reforming reaction. If the catalyst was not fully reduced, a reduction during the early stages of dry reforming is accompanied by the deposition of up to 44 mg·g carbon as shown by experiments in a magnetic suspension balance. Rapid coking occurs for increased residence times and times-on-stream starting at 50 h. The Ni loading of 5 wt-% on SiO -ZrO was shown to provide an optimal balance between activity and coking tendency.

hydrogenation of insoluble organic matter of CS/Acetone from coal over mesoporous HZSM-5 supported Ni

摘要: Four supported catalysts, nickel and ruthenium on a HZSM-5 support, were prepared by equal volume impregnation and in-situ decomposition of carbonyl nickel. The properties of catalysts were investigated by catalytic hydro-conversion of 2,2′-dinaphthyl ether as the model compound and extraction residue of Naomaohu lignite as the sample under an initial H2 pressure of 5 MPa and temperature at 150 °C. According to the catalytic hydro-conversion results of the model compound, Ni−Ru/HZSM-5 exhibited the best catalytic performance. It not only activated H2 into H···H, but also further heterolytically split H···H into immobile H attached on the acidic centers of Ni−Ru/HZSM-5 and relatively mobile H+. Catalytic hydro-conversion of the extraction residue from Naomaohu lignite was further examined over the optimized catalyst, Ni−Ru/HZSM-5. Detailed molecular compositions of products from the extraction residue with and without hydrogenation were characterized by Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy and gas chromatography/mass spectrometry. The analytical results showed that the oxygen-containing functional groups in products of hydrogenated extraction residue were obviously reduced after the catalytic treatment. The relative content of oxygenates in the product with catalytic treatment was 18.57% lower than that in the product without catalytic treatment.

Bimetallic Ni-Fe catalysts derived from layered double hydroxides for CO methanation from syngas

摘要: Carbon deposition and sintering of active components such as nano particles are great challenges for Ni-based catalysts for CO methanation to generate synthetic natural gas from syngas. Facing the challenges, bimetallic catalysts with different Fe content derived from layered double hydroxide containing Ni, Fe, Mg, Al elements were prepared by co-precipitation method. Nanoparticles of Ni-Fe alloy were supported on mixed oxides of aluminium and magnesium after calcination and reduction. The catalysts were characterized by Brunner-Emmett-Teller (BET), X-ray diffraction, hydrogen temperature programmed reduction, inductively coupled plasma, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy, transmission electron microscopy and thermogravimetric techniques, and their catalytic activity for CO methanation was investigated. The results show that the Ni-Fe alloy catalysts exhibit better catalytic performance than monometallic catalysts except for the Ni4Fe-red catalyst. The Ni2Fe-red catalyst shows the highest CO conversion (100% at 260–350 °C), as well as the highest CH selectivity (over 95% at 280–350 °C), owing to the formation of Ni-Fe alloy. In stability test, the Ni2Fe-red catalyst exhibits great improvement in both anti-sintering and resistance to carbon formation compared with the Ni0Fe-red catalyst. The strong interaction between Ni and Fe element in alloy and surface distribution of Fe element not only inhibits the sintering of nanoparticles but restrains the formation of Ni clusters.
