Multidisciplinary co-design optimization of structural and control parameters for bucket wheel reclaimer

摘要: Bucket wheel reclaimer (BWR) is an extremely complex engineering machine that involves multiple disciplines, such as structure, dynamics, and electromechanics. The conventional design strategy, namely, sequential strategy, is structural design followed by control optimization. However, the global optimal solution is difficult to achieve because of the discoordination of structural and control parameters. The co-design strategy is explored to address the aforementioned problem by combining the structural and control system design based on simultaneous dynamic optimization approach. The radial basis function model is applied for the planning of the rotation speed considering the relationships of subsystems to minimize the energy consumption per volume. Co-design strategy is implemented to resolve the optimization problem, and numerical results are compared with those of sequential strategy. The dynamic response of the BWR is also analyzed with different optimization strategies to evaluate the advantages of the strategies. Results indicate that co-design strategy not only can reduce the energy consumption of the BWR but also can achieve a smaller vibration amplitude than the sequential strategy.

Smart product design for automotive systems

摘要: Automobiles evolved from primarily mechanical to electro-mechanical, or mechatronic, vehicles. For example, carburetors have been replaced by fuel injection and air-fuel ratio control, leading to order of magnitude improvements in fuel economy and emissions. Mechatronic systems are pervasive in modern automobiles and represent a synergistic integration of mechanics, electronics and computer science. They are smart systems, whose design is more challenging than the separate design of their mechanical, electronic and computer/control components. In this review paper, two recent methods for the design of mechatronic components are summarized and their applications to problems in automotive control are highlighted. First, the combined design, or co-design, of a smart artifact and its controller is considered. It is shown that the combined design of an artifact and its controller can lead to improved performance compared to sequential design. The coupling between the artifact and controller design problems is quantified, and methods for co-design are presented. The control proxy function method, which provides ease of design as in the sequential approach and approximates the performance of the co-design approach, is highlighted with application to the design of a passive/active automotive suspension. Second, the design for component swapping modularity (CSM) of a distributed controller for a smart product is discussed. CSM is realized by employing distributed controllers residing in networked smart components, with bidirectional communication over the network. Approaches to CSM design are presented, as well as applications of the method to a variable-cam-timing engine, and to enable battery swapping in a plug-in hybrid electric vehicle.

一种面向CAD装配模型具有完整性校验的新型属性加密方法 Article

云制造是实现智能制造的三大关键技术之一。本文提出了一种新的基于属性的计算机辅助设计(CAD)装配模型加密方法,有效地支持云制造中协同设计场景的层次访问控制、完整性验证和变形保护。设计了装配层次访问树(AHAT)作为层次访问结构。部件密文(ACT)文件中包含与属性相关的密文元素,其适用于内容密钥解密而不是CAD装配体文件。我们修改原始的默克尔树(MT)并重建装配体MT。所提出的ABE框架具有将变形保护方法与CAD模型的内容保密性相结合的能力。在标准假设下,所提出的加密方案被证明是安全的。在典型的CAD装配模型上进行的实验仿真表明,该方法在应用中是可行的。

基于SoftSSD的快速固态硬盘固件原型开发 Research Article

摘要: 近年来,固态硬盘已被广泛用于新兴的数据处理系统中。从本质上讲,固态硬盘是一个复杂的嵌入式系统,涉及硬件和软件设计。对于软件设计来说,固件模块如闪存转换层协调了内部操作和闪存管理,并对固态硬盘的整体输入/输出性能至关重要。尽管市场上新的固态硬盘功能发展迅速,但由于缺乏真实和可扩展的固态硬盘开发平台,闪存固件的研究大多是基于模拟方法实现。本文提出SoftSSD,一个面向软件的用于快速闪存固件原型开发的固态硬盘开发平台。SoftSSD的核心是一个具有事件驱动编程模型的新型框架。通过该编程模型,新的闪存转换算法可以被直接集成到全功能的闪存固件中。由此产生的闪存固件可以部署到一个通过外设组件互连总线连接到主机系统的硬件开发板上并对其进行评估。不同于现有的面向硬件的开发平台,SoftSSD通过软件方式实现了大部分的固态硬盘功能组件。因此,曾经被限制在硬件中的数据流和内部状态现在可以用软件调试器来检查以提供更好的可观察性和可扩展性,这对闪存固件的快速原型设计和研究至关重要。我们描述了SoftSSD的编程模型和硬件设计,在原型开发板上进行了实际应用工作负载的实验,以展示SoftSSD的性能和实用性,并发布了SoftSSD的开源代码供公众使用。

Parametric study on the mixed solvent synthesis of ZIF-8 nano- and micro-particles for CO adsorption:

摘要: The room temperature synthesis of ZIF-8 micro- and nano-particles was investigated using a mixed methanol-water solvent system. ZIF-8 particles of good quality and high crystallinity were obtained. Response surface methodology was used to determine the effect of the synthesis conditions on the ZIF-8 yield, particle size distribution, and mean particle size. The ligand/metal salt molar ratio followed by the amount of sodium formate (the deprotonating agent) and then the amount of water (i.e., the composition of the mixed solvent) respectively had the largest effects on both the ZIF-8 yield and particle size. Results showed that mixing of solvents with different strengths in producing ZIF-8 crystals is a practical method to size-controlled synthesis of ZIF-8 particles. This method is more favorable for industrial-scale ZIF-8 synthesis than using excess amounts of ligands or chemical additives (like sodium formate). In addition, ZIF-8 samples with different mean particle sizes (100, 500, and 1000 nm) were used for CO adsorption and the mid-sized ZIF-8 particles had the highest adsorption capacity.

“ALL FREE” — a novel design concept of applying partial oxidation process to vehicle

摘要: With the rapid expansion of the global motor vehicle population, the transportation sector has taken up a growing proportion among all the carbon dioxide emission-related sectors. To contribute to solutions of the carbon dioxide-oriented problem in transportation, this paper proposes the “ALL FREE” concept that applies partial oxidation process instead of the conventional complete oxidation to vehicle engines. In such an engine, the fuels are partially oxidized into corresponding chemical products, which, as a result, enable the process to be theoretically free of CO, while the heat output of the partial oxidation could drive the vehicle. On the other hand, the resulting products are of great value, which could decrease or even counteract the cost of fuels in transportation. In this paper, the thermodynamic and kinetic data (e.g., the heat output and heat release rate) of five selected partial oxidation reactions were calculated at length to demonstrate and exemplify the theoretical feasibility of the “ALL FREE” concept. It turned out that the partial oxidation of -butane to maleic anhydride has the most potential to meet the basic requirements of this concept. To sum up, this design concept is of significant application potential for the reduction of CO emissions in the transportation industry, although there remain many technical challenges.

CO, N, and CO/N mixed gas injection for enhanced shale gas recovery and CO geological storage

摘要: In this work, using fractured shale cores, isothermal adsorption experiments and core flooding tests were conducted to investigate the performance of injecting different gases to enhance shale gas recovery and CO2 geological storage efficiency under real reservoir conditions. The adsorption process of shale to different gases was in agreement with the extended-Langmuir model, and the adsorption capacity of CO2 was the largest, followed by CH4, and that of N2 was the smallest of the three pure gases. In addition, when the CO2 concentration in the mixed gas exceeded 50%, the adsorption capacity of the mixed gas was greater than that of CH4, and had a strong competitive adsorption effect. For the core flooding tests, pure gas injection showed that the breakthrough time of CO2 was longer than that of N2, and the CH4 recovery factor at the breakthrough time (RCH4) was also higher than that of N2. The RCH4 of CO2 gas injection was approximately 44.09%, while the RCH4 of N2 was only 31.63%. For CO2/N2 mixed gas injection, with the increase of CO2 concentration, the RCH4 increased, and the RCH4 for mixed gas CO2/N2 = 8:2 was close to that of pure CO2, about 40.24%. Moreover, the breakthrough time of N2 in mixed gas was not much different from that when pure N2 was injected, while the breakthrough time of CO2 was prolonged, which indicated that with the increase of N2 concentration in the mixed gas, the breakthrough time of CO2 could be extended. Furthermore, an abnormal surge of N2 concentration in the produced gas was observed after N2 breakthrough. In regards to CO2 storage efficiency (Sstorage-CO2), as the CO2 concentration increased, Sstorage-CO2 also increased. The Sstorage-CO2 of the pure CO2 gas injection was about 35.96%, while for mixed gas CO2/N2 = 8:2, Sstorage-CO2 was about 32.28%.

CO2 methanation and co-methanation of CO and CO2 over Mn-promoted Ni/Al2

摘要: A series of Mn-promoted 15 wt-% Ni/Al O catalysts were prepared by an incipient wetness impregnation method. The effect of the Mn content on the activity of the Ni/Al O catalysts for CO methanation and the co-methanation of CO and CO in a fixed-bed reactor was investigated. The catalysts were characterized by N physisorption, hydrogen temperature-programmed reduction and desorption, carbon dioxide temperature-programmed desorption, X-ray diffraction and high-resolution transmission electron microscopy. The presence of Mn increased the number of CO adsorption sites and inhibited Ni particle agglomeration due to improved Ni dispersion and weakened interactions between the nickel species and the support. The Mn-promoted 15 wt-% Ni/Al O catalysts had improved CO methanation activity especially at low temperatures (250 to 400 °C). The Mn content was varied from 0.86% to 2.54% and the best CO conversion was achieved with the 1.71Mn-Ni/Al O catalyst. The co-methanation tests on the 1.71Mn-Ni/Al O catalyst indicated that adding Mn markedly enhanced the CO methanation activity especially at low temperatures but it had little influence on the CO methanation performance. CO methanation was more sensitive to the reaction temperature and the space velocity than the CO methanation in the co-methanation process.
