Optimal two-impulse space interception with multiple constraints Research Articles

Li Xie, Yi-qun Zhang, Jun-yan Xu,lixie@ncepu.edu.cn,yiqunzhang@hotmail.com,junyan_Xu@sina.cn

Frontiers of Information Technology & Electronic Engineering 2020, Volume 21, Issue 7,   Pages 963-1118 doi: 10.1631/FITEE.1800763

Abstract: We consider optimal two-impulse with . The are imposed on the terminal position of a space interceptor, impulse and impact instants, and the component-wise magnitudes of velocity impulses. These optimization problems are formulated as and solved by the calculus of variations. Slackness variable methods are used to convert all inequality constraints into equality constraints so that the Lagrange multiplier method can be used. A new is presented. As a result, an indirect optimization method is developed. Subsequently, our method is used to solve the two-impulse of free-flight ballistic missiles. A number of conclusions for have been drawn based on highly accurate numerical solutions. Specifically, by numerical examples, we show that when time and velocity impulse constraints are imposed, optimal two-impulse solutions may occur; if two-impulse instants are free, then a two-impulse space interception problem with velocity impulse constraints may degenerate to a one-impulse case.

Hohmann transfer via constrained optimization None

Li XIE, Yi-qun ZHANG, Jun-yan XU

Frontiers of Information Technology & Electronic Engineering 2018, Volume 19, Issue 11,   Pages 1444-1458 doi: 10.1631/FITEE.1800295

Abstract:

Inspired by the geometric method proposed by Jean-Pierre MAREC, we first consider the Hohmann transfer problem between two coplanar circular orbits as a static nonlinear programming problem with an inequality constraint. By the Kuhn-Tucker theorem and a second-order sufficient condition for minima, we analytically prove the global minimum of the Hohmann transfer. Two sets of feasible solutions are found: one corresponding to the Hohmann transfer is the global minimum and the other is a local minimum. We next formulate the Hohmann transfer problem as boundary value problems, which are solved by the calculus of variations. The two sets of feasible solutions are also found by numerical examples. Via static and dynamic constrained optimizations, the solution to the Hohmann transfer problem is re-discovered, and its global minimum is analytically verified using nonlinear programming.

Gao Yongchao,Qian Heng,Liu Limei,Wang Yunzheng,Wang Ding

Strategic Study of CAE 2009, Volume 11, Issue 9,   Pages 74-77

Abstract:

The scale and complexity of search space are important factors to decide the solving difficulty of an optimization problem. The information of solution space may lead searching to optimal solutions. Based on the known space structure of job shop scheduling problem, a space contracting and decomposing algorithm is proposed. This algorithm makes use of the good solutions found by searching algorithms, contracts the search space and decomposes it into one or several optimal regions combined with the concept of Backbone of combinatorial optimization solutions. And optimization of small-scale problems is carried out in optimal regions. Statistical analysis is not necessary before or through solving in this algorithm, and solution information is used to estimate the landscape of search space, which enhances the speed and solution quality. The experiments results testify the efficiency of this new algorithm.

Cyberspace Endogenous Safety and Security Article

Jiangxing Wu

Engineering 2022, Volume 15, Issue 8,   Pages 179-185 doi: 10.1016/j.eng.2021.05.015

Abstract:

Uncertain security threats caused by vulnerabilities and backdoors are the most serious and difficult problem in cyberspace. This paper analyzes the philosophical and technical causes of the existence of so-called “dark functions” such as system vulnerabilities and backdoors, and points out that endogenous security problems cannot be completely eliminated at the theoretical and engineering levels; rather, it is necessary to develop or utilize the endogenous security functions of the system architecture itself. In addition, this paper gives a definition for and lists the main technical characteristics of endogenous safety and security in cyberspace, introduces endogenous security mechanisms and characteristics based on dynamic heterogeneous redundancy (DHR) architecture, and describes the theoretical implications of a coding channel based on DHR.

Several Theoretical Problems in Faster-than-Light Research

Huang Zhixun,Geng Tianming

Strategic Study of CAE 2007, Volume 9, Issue 4,   Pages 6-17

Abstract:

In the early stage of the universe, during the hadronic era, the light velocity was larger than c,  in fact was v=75c. This implies that light velocity has been decreasing in time slowly, from v down to the present value c. On the other hand, based on the measurements of 128 quasar absorption lines, the average increase in fine-structure constantαwas6×10-6 over the past 6~12Ga. Scientists think it was aroused by the light-speed variation. It would be interesting to investigate if these facts have influenced the past history of the universe. This paper also discusses some problems of faster-than-light research profoundly, such as the velocity definition of the microscopic particles, the velocity of gravitation, the interaction speed of the quantum-entangle-state(QES), and the over distance action.

Quality-related locally weighted soft sensing for non-stationary processes by a supervised Bayesian network with latent variables Research Articles

Frontiers of Information Technology & Electronic Engineering 2021, Volume 22, Issue 9,   Pages 1234-1246 doi: 10.1631/FITEE.2000426

Abstract:

It is necessary to construct an adaptive model to cope with process non-stationaries. In this study, a novel quality-related locally weighted soft sensing method is designed for non-stationary processes based on a Bayesian network with . Specifically, a is proposed where quality-oriented are extracted and further applied to a double-layer similarity measurement algorithm. The proposed soft sensing method tries to find a general approach for non-stationary processes via quality-related information where the concepts of local similarities and window confidence are explained in detail. The performance of the developed method is demonstrated by application to a numerical example and a debutanizer column. It is shown that the proposed method outperforms competitive methods in terms of the accuracy of predicting key quality variables.

Strategic Study of CAE 2001, Volume 3, Issue 10,   Pages 48-52

Abstract:

A knowledge-based variable-structure decoupling is developed, and be utilized to control a nonlinear multivariable system, so as to avoid the model-establishing process, especially avoid large amount of complex matrix operations required for the conventional decoupling control. Some modules in the knowledge base of this kind of control are described, and the main points of the related algorithms are introduced. Strategies described in this paper have been successively utilized to the set-point temperature control of a 3 × 3 strong coupled system —a three winding heater type standard temperature source, and an effect that the temperature stability as well as temperature homogeneity all better than 1℃ has been attained, which is impossible for the conventional control method.

Mathematical optimization in utilizing dredged soil in Yangtze River estuary

Zhou Yu,Zheng Weian

Strategic Study of CAE 2013, Volume 15, Issue 6,   Pages 54-60

Abstract:

Shanghai is now facing a barrier on its way to become an international shipping center; the sham shoreline and land having already reached saturation point at the Yangtze River estuary. The vital way to solve this problem is to build new ports. Meanwhile, the municipal government has been injecting massive funds to dredge sedimentate the Yangtze River estuary. If those dredged sediments could be hydraulically filled in Eastern Hengsha Shoal, another Shanghai Port can be built there with integrated resources, the handling capability of which will be able to meet the shipping demand in Shanghai for the next 30 years. The mathematical model raised from the practical issues is Monge-Kantorovich problem, which had intrigued and frustrated mathematicians for 232 years. Based on Monge-Kantorovich Model, this paper has designed a numerical method of estimating the gross energy hydraulic reclamation needed to evaluate the expense of the entire object.

Airline Disruption Management: A Review of Models and Solution Methods Review

Yi Su, Kexin Xie, Hongjian Wang, Zhe Liang, Wanpracha Art Chaovalitwongse, Panos M. Pardalos

Engineering 2021, Volume 7, Issue 4,   Pages 435-447 doi: 10.1016/j.eng.2020.08.021

Abstract:

The normal operation of aircraft and flights can be affected by various unpredictable factors, such as severe weather, airport closure, and corrective maintenance, leading to disruption of the planned schedule. When a disruption occurs, the airline operation control center performs various operations to reassign resources (e.g., flights, aircraft, and crews) and redistribute passengers to restore the schedule while minimizing costs. We introduce different sources of disruption and corresponding operations. Then, basic models and recently proposed extensions for aircraft recovery, crew recovery, and integrated recovery are reviewed, with the aim of providing models and methods for different disruption scenarios in the practical implementation of airlines. In addition, we provide suggestions for future research directions in these topics.
