Frontiers of Information Technology & Electronic Engineering 2017, Volume 18, Issue 2,   Pages 220-234 doi: 10.1631/FITEE.1500352

Frontiers of Information Technology & Electronic Engineering 2018, Volume 19, Issue 2,   Pages 192-205 doi: 10.1631/FITEE.1601477

Abstract: Non-volatile random-access memory (NVRAM) technology is maturing rapidly and its byte-persistence feature allows the design of new and efficient fault tolerance mechanisms. In this paper we propose the versionized process (VerP), a new process model based on NVRAM that is natively non-volatile and fault tolerant. We introduce an intermediate software layer that allows us to run a process directly on NVRAM and to put all the process states into NVRAM, and then propose a mechanism to versionize all the process data. Each piece of the process data is given a special version number, which increases with the modification of that piece of data. The version number can effectively help us trace the modification of any data and recover it to a consistent state after a system crash. Compared with traditional checkpoint methods, our work can achieve fine-grained fault tolerance at very little cost.

Frontiers of Information Technology & Electronic Engineering 2018, Volume 19, Issue 3,   Pages 446-458 doi: 10.1631/FITEE.1601802

Abstract: Efficient resource scheduling and allocation in radiological examination process (REP) execution is a key requirement to improve patient throughput and radiological resource utilization and to manage unexpected events that occur when resource scheduling and allocation decisions change due to clinical needs. In this paper, a Tabu search based approach is presented to solve the resource scheduling and allocation problems in REP execution. The primary objective of the approach is to minimize a weighted sum of average examination flow time, average idle time of the resources, and delays. Unexpected events, i.e., emergent or absent examinations, are also considered. For certain parameter combinations, the optimal solution of radiological resource scheduling and allocation is found, while considering the limitations such as routing and resource constraints. Simulations in the application case are performed. Results show that the proposed approach makes efficient use of radiological resource capacity and improves the patient throughput in REP execution.

Engineering 2019, Volume 5, Issue 2,   Pages 199-222 doi: 10.1016/j.eng.2018.11.030

Abstract:

Computer vision techniques, in conjunction with acquisition through remote cameras and unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), offer promising non-contact solutions to civil infrastructure condition assessment. The ultimate goal of such a system is to automatically and robustly convert the image or video data into actionable information. This paper provides an overview of recent advances in computer vision techniques as they apply to the problem of civil infrastructure condition assessment. In particular, relevant research in the fields of computer vision, machine learning, and structural engineering are presented. The work reviewed is classified into two types: inspection applications and monitoring applications. The inspection applications reviewed include identifying context such as structural components, characterizing local and global visible damage, and detecting changes from a reference image. The monitoring applications discussed include static measurement of strain and displacement, as well as dynamic measurement of displacement for modal analysis. Subsequently, some of the key challenges that persist towards the goal of automated vision-based civil infrastructure and monitoring are presented. The paper concludes with ongoing work aimed at addressing some of these stated challenges.

Abstract: (PM) s have been developed to achieve high performance by exploiting the advanced features of PMs, including nonvolatility, byte addressability, and dynamic random access memory (DRAM) like performance. Unfortunately, these PMs suffer from limited write endurance. Existing space management strategies of PM s can induce a severely unbalanced wear problem, which can damage the underlying PMs quickly. In this paper, we propose a -aware , called WMAlloc, to achieve the wear leveling of PMs while improving the performance of s. WMAlloc adopts multiple min-heaps to manage the unused space of PMs. Each heap represents an allocation granularity. Then, WMAlloc allocates less-worn blocks from the corresponding min-heap for allocation requests. Moreover, to avoid recursive split and inefficient heap locations in WMAlloc, we further propose a bitmap-based multi-heap tree (BMT) to enhance WMAlloc, namely, WMAlloc-BMT. We implement WMAlloc and WMAlloc-BMT in the Linux kernel based on NOVA, a typical PM . Experimental results show that, compared with the original NOVA and dynamic wear-aware range management (DWARM), which is the state-of-the-art -aware allocator of PM s, WMAlloc can, respectively, achieve 4.11× and 1.81× maximum write number reduction and 1.02× and 1.64× performance with four workloads on average. Furthermore, WMAlloc-BMT outperforms WMAlloc with 1.08× performance and achieves 1.17× maximum write number reduction with four workloads on average.

Study on the Universality of the Normal Cloud Model

Strategic Study of CAE 2004, Volume 6, Issue 8,   Pages 28-34

Abstract:

The distribution function is an important tool for the study of the stochastic variances. The normal distribution is very popular in the nature and human society. The idea of membership functions is the foundation of the fuzzy sets theory. While the fuzzy theory is widely used, the completely certain membership function which has no any fuzziness at all has been the bottleneck of the applications of this theory. Cloud models are effective tools in transforming between qualitative concepts and their quantitative expressions. It can represent the fuzziness and randomness and their relations of uncertain concepts. Also cloud models can show the concept granularity in multi-scale spaces by the digital characteristic Entropy (En). The normal cloud models not only broaden the formation conditions of the normal distribution but also make the normal membership function be the expectation of the random membership degree. In this paper, the universality of the normal cloud model is proved, which is more superior and easier, and can fit the fuzziness and gentleness in human cognizing process. It would be more applicable and universal in the representation of uncertain notions.

Strategic Study of CAE 2014, Volume 16, Issue 5,   Pages 56-59

Abstract:

To provide evidence for effectiveness evaluation of the government project free pre- pregnancy health examination through reporting exposure of potential risk factors of adverse pregnancy outcome and pregnancy rate and the pregnancy outcome of the couples to be pregnant after free pre- pregnancy physical examination in Jingan District,Shanghai. Followups were completed to women who had a free pre-prenancy health examination in Jingan District from August 2011 to November 2012,which foucused on exposure of potential risk factors of adverse pregnancy outcome, time of pregnancy and pregnancy outcome of the women. Chisq test, life table and Logistic regression model were used for data analysis. 1 480 couples had free pre- pregnancy health examinations in the target period. Of which,84.4 % were followed up. By April 2013,48.7 % of the women who were followed up were pregnant. The cumulative pregnancy rate at 3 months and 6 months after free pre-pregnancy health examination was 23.9 % and 45.0 %,respectively. 365 women completed the follow up about pregnancy outcomes. The incidence rate of premature delivery, low birth weight, giant baby and spontaneous abortion was 3.0 %,4.3 %,3.3 % and 6.3 %,respectively. One birth defect was reported during the follow up period, accounting for 0.16% of the number of pregnant women and 0.27 % of the number of women who had pregnancy outcomes. The proportion of husbands who had unhealthy habits such as smoking or drinking ranged from 18 % to 20 %,which was much higher than that of their wives (1 %~3 %). 77 % husbands and 77 % wifives exposed to potential electromagnetic radiation over 8 hours a day. 9 % couples reported exposing to potential teratogenicity such as heavy mental, pesticide and chemical fertilizer in their daily life and work. Over 10 % wivies had exposed to potential teratogenicity after they were pregnant. Primary analysis showed no association between the above factors and adverse pregnancy outcomes. Since the 6-month cumulative pregnancy rate of women who had free pre- pregnancy health examination was lower than 50 %,it is necessary to evaluate the cost benefit of free pre-pregnancy health examination in Shanghai and throughout the country.

Inspection System of Carbonate Equilibrium for Groundwater

Liu Jiangang,Zheng Kexun,Fu Weining,Wu Shunhua

Strategic Study of CAE 2003, Volume 5, Issue 9,   Pages 61-64

Abstract:

The paper discusses the relationship between three forms of carbonate as H2C03, HC03- and CC32- and water pH value when the groundwater temperature and partial pressure of C02 vary so as to evaluate the reliability of water quality. It finds out that the demarcation point of pH that is called pHO when the quantity of HCO3- reaches maximum, is from 7.92 to 8.60 in water and from 8.28 to 8.57 in open groundwater system of carbonate rock when pressure of CO2 in groundwater varies from 1 to 105 Pa and the groundwater temperature varies from 0 to 30℃ . pHO will be lower and lower with groundwater temperature being higher and higher. The pHO in groundwatar of limestone is almost equal to that of dolomite limestone owing to the solubility of dolomite is very low to calcite. So features of carbonate equilibrium in carbonate rock depend on component of calcite.

Strategic Study of CAE 2014, Volume 16, Issue 5,   Pages 52-55

Abstract:

In order to understand the general state of health of the couples planning a pregnancy, carry out the progestational health education and eugenics counseling work and reduce the risk of birth defects, the data of progestational eugenic health examination for 606 pairs of couples of agro-pastoralist and floating population meeting the policy on birth and planning a pregnancy were analyzed. The number of smoking man is 381,accounting for 62.87 % of the total number of male subjects;the number of passive smoking woman is 324,accounting for 53.46 % of the total number of female subjects. A total of 152 men and women exist bad eating habits;a total of 228 men and women are exposed to pesticides and new fitment, paint and so on. The disease incidence of woman’s reproductive system phlegmonosis is the highest among the diseases detected. The results showed that the subjects are lack of progestational eugenic knowledge and apathy of eugenic sense due to the low educational level, language barriers and other factors. Therefore,we should provide comprehensive guidance for the couples planning a pregnancy according to the results of progestational eugenic health examination,so as to effectively reduce the incidence of birth defects and improve the quality of the population.

Engineering 2017, Volume 3, Issue 3,   Pages 343-353 doi: 10.1016/J.ENG.2017.03.022

Abstract:

Crystallization is one of the oldest separation and purification unit operations, and has recently contributed to significant improvements in producing higher-value products with specific properties and in building efficient manufacturing processes. In this paper, we review recent developments in crystal engineering and crystallization process design and control in the pharmaceutical industry. We systematically summarize recent methods for understanding and developing new types of crystals such as co-crystals, polymorphs, and solvates, and include several milestones such as the launch of the first co-crystal drug, Entresto (Novartis), and the continuous manufacture of Orkambi (Vertex). Conventional batch and continuous processes, which are becoming increasingly mature, are being coupled with various control strategies and the recently developed crystallizers are thus adapting to the needs of the pharmaceutical industry. The development of crystallization process design and control has led to the appearance of several new and innovative crystallizer geometries for continuous operation and improved performance. This paper also reviews major recent progress in the area of process analytical technology.

Strategic Study of CAE 2009, Volume 11, Issue 12,   Pages 82-86

Abstract:

Karst caves and faults are big challenges in tunnel construction. Water gushing happens in these strata frequently, which affects construction schedule and construction safety. Qiyueshan Tunnel on Yichang-Wanzhou Railway crosses underground rivers, karst caves and fractured faults in high pressure and water gushing strata. Fractured fault F11, which has high water pressure, large volume of water gushing and complicated geological condition, is the key of the whole tunnel. Taking the technologies of grouting, water control and rock collapse prevention adopted for fault F11 as an example, the authors present the new construction scheme, new construction technology and new effect examination method for water control and rock collapse prevention in high pressure and rich water fault F11. This paper can provide reference for similar projects in the future.
