Calculation of the Behavior Utility of a Network System: Conception and Principle Article

Changzhen Hu

Engineering 2018, Volume 4, Issue 1,   Pages 78-84 doi: 10.1016/j.eng.2018.02.010

Abstract:

The service and application of a network is a behavioral process that is oriented toward its operations and tasks, whose metrics and evaluation are still somewhat of a rough comparison. This paper describes scenes of network behavior as differential manifolds. Using the homeomorphic transformation of smooth differential manifolds, we provide a mathematical definition of network behavior and propose a mathematical description of the network behavior path and behavior utility. Based on the principle of differential geometry, this paper puts forward the function of network behavior and a calculation method to determine behavior utility, and establishes the calculation principle of network behavior utility. We also provide a calculation framework for assessment of the network’s attack-defense confrontation on the strength of behavior utility. Therefore, this paper establishes a mathematical foundation for the objective measurement and precise evaluation of network behavior.

Strategic Study of CAE 2023, Volume 25, Issue 6,   Pages 80-95 doi: 10.15302/J-SSCAE-2023.06.010

Abstract:

The rapid development of quantum information has brought new opportunities and challenges to modern information technologies. As one of the popular research directions in the field of quantum information, quantum networks aim to utilize the fundamental properties of quantum mechanics to achieve long-distance (secure) communications or provide computational capabilities superior to classical computing networks through distributed computing. The study of quantum networks holds great significance in advancing the practicality of quantum information. To gain a comprehensive understanding of the development trajectory of quantum networks, this study categorizes quantum networks into three types: quantum cryptography, quantum cloud computing, and quantum teleportation networks, based on different application scenarios and technical approaches. It provides comprehensive reviews of both domestic and international research progress and the challenges faced in each aspect. Furthermore, in conjunction with the practical implementation of quantum networks, the key technologies that need to be overcome in the development of quantum network systems, involving link establishment, information transmission, networking protocols, and physical hardware, are summarized. Overall, the development of quantum networks is still in the primary stage. At this stage, actively addressing challenges and seizing opportunities are of great significance to enhance the technological prowess of China. Therefore, to promote the development of quantum network systems in China, suggestions are proposed from three aspects: strengthening investment in the research and development of fundamental hardware infrastructure, attaching importance to the theoretical research of quantum networks, and enhancing interdisciplinary research and talent cultivation.

Frontiers of Information Technology & Electronic Engineering 2021, Volume 22, Issue 6,   Pages 802-814 doi: 10.1631/FITEE.1900661

Abstract: Multi-agent (MARL) has long been a significant research topic in both machine learning and control systems. Recent development of (single-agent) deep has created a resurgence of interest in developing new MARL algorithms, especially those founded on theoretical analysis. In this paper, we review recent advances on a sub-area of this topic: decentralized MARL with networked agents. In this scenario, multiple agents perform sequential decision-making in a common environment, and without the coordination of any central controller, while being allowed to exchange information with their neighbors over a communication network. Such a setting finds broad applications in the control and operation of robots, unmanned vehicles, mobile sensor networks, and the smart grid. This review covers several of our research endeavors in this direction, as well as progress made by other researchers along the line. We hope that this review promotes additional research efforts in this exciting yet challenging area.

Frontiers of Information Technology & Electronic Engineering 2022, Volume 23, Issue 2,   Pages 291-303 doi: 10.1631/FITEE.2000245

Abstract: (AQM) is essential to prevent the degradation of quality of service in TCP/AQM systems with round-trip time (RTT) delay. RTT delays are primarily caused by packet-propagation delays, but they can also be caused by the processing time of queuing operations and dynamically changing network situations. This study focuses on the design and analysis of an AQM digital controller under time-delay uncertainty. The controller is based on the algorithm and is called the SMITHPI controller. This study also demonstrates the stability of the controller and its robustness against network parameter variations such as the number of TCP connections, time delays, and user datagram protocol flows. The performance, robustness, and effectiveness of the proposed SMITHPI controller are evaluated using the NS-2 simulator. Finally, the performance of the SMITHPI controller is compared with that of a well-known queue-based AQM, called the proportional-integral controller.

Solution of Network-induced Delay Using GPC With Predictive Error Compensation

Wang Dongqing

Strategic Study of CAE 2005, Volume 7, Issue 8,   Pages 60-65

Abstract:

With regard to the characteristics of uncertain network-induced delay, an idea of using Generalized Predictive Control (GPC) is proposed in networked control systems. To overcome the influence of modeling mismatch and uncertainty of a system, an error predictive model is further built based on BP neural network, and error predictive value is used to compensate output predictive value, which forms a new control algorithm of GPC, and smooth filtering weighted controlled input variable is adopted. Random-delay-time characteristic of data transmission is tested in a networked control system. GPC and GPC with error compensation are compared in the system. GPC with BP error compensation is verified to have better performance in a modeling mismatch system.

Panati SUBBASH, Kil To CHONG

Frontiers of Information Technology & Electronic Engineering 2019, Volume 20, Issue 2,   Pages 141-151 doi: 10.1631/FITEE.1700206

Abstract:

Autonomous navigation of a mobile robot in an unknown environment with highly cluttered obstacles is a fundamental issue in mobile robotics research. We propose an adaptive network fuzzy inference system (ANFIS) based navigation controller for a differential drive mobile robot in an unknown environment with cluttered obstacles. Ultrasonic sensors are used to capture the environmental information around the mobile robot. A training data set required to train the ANFIS controller has been obtained by designing a fuzzy logic based navigation controller. Additive white Gaussian noise has been added to the sensor readings and fed to the trained ANFIS controller during mobile robot navigation, to account for the effect of environmental noise on sensor readings. The robustness of the proposed navigation controller has been evaluated by navigating the mobile robot in three different environments. The performance of the proposed controller has been verified by comparing the travelled path length/efficiency and bending energy obtained by the proposed method with reference mobile robot navigation controllers, such as neural network, fuzzy logic, and ANFIS. Simulation results presented in this paper show that the proposed controller has better performance compared with reference controllers and can successfully navigate in different environments without any collision with obstacles.

Frontiers of Information Technology & Electronic Engineering 2022, Volume 23, Issue 12,   Pages 1848-1861 doi: 10.1631/FITEE.2200035

Abstract: Analyzing the of in is generally regarded as a challenging problem. Although existing studies can extract some critical rules, they fail to capture the complex subtleties under different operational conditions. In recent years, several deep learning methods have been applied to address this issue. However, most of the existing deep learning methods consider only the grid topology of a power system in terms of topological connections, but do not encompass a power system's spatial information such as the electrical distance to increase the accuracy in the process of graph convolution. In this paper, we construct a novel power- that uses power system topology and spatial information to optimize the edge weight assignment of the line graph. Then we propose a multi-graph convolutional network (MGCN) based on a graph classification task, which preserves a power system's spatial correlations and captures the relationships among physical components. Our model can better handle the problem with that have parallel lines, where our method can maintain desirable accuracy in modeling systems with these extra topology features. To increase the interpretability of the model, we present the MGCN using layer-wise relevance propagation and quantify the contributing factors of model classification.
