Sustainable urban transportation development in China: A behavioral perspective

摘要: The rapid development of economics requires highly efficient and environment-friendly urban transportation systems. Such requirement presents challenges in sustainable urban transportation. The analysis and understanding of transportation-related behaviors provide one approach to dealing with complicated transportation activities. In this study, the management of traffic systems is divided into four levels with a structural and systematic perspective. Then, several special cases from the perspective of behavior, including purchasing behaviors toward new energy vehicles, choice behaviors toward green travel, and behavioral reactions toward transportation demand management policies, are investigated. Several management suggestions are proposed for transportation authorities to improve sustainable traffic management.

Urban air mobility (UAM) and ground transportation integration: A survey

摘要: This study explores urban air mobility (UAM) as a strategy for mitigating escalating traffic congestion in major urban areas as a consequence of a static transportation supply versus dynamic demand growth. It offers an in-depth overview of UAM development, highlighting its present state and the challenges of integration with established urban transport systems. Key areas of focus include the technological advancements and obstacles in electric vertical take-off and landing (eVTOL) aircrafts, which are essential for UAM operation in urban environments. Furthermore, it explores the infrastructure requirements for UAM, including vertiport deployment and the creation of adept air traffic control (ATC) systems. These developments must be integrated into the urban landscape without exacerbating land-use challenges. This paper also examines the regulatory framework for UAM, including existing aviation regulations and the necessity for novel policies specifically designed for urban aerial transport. This study presents a comprehensive perspective for various stakeholders, from policymakers to urban planners, highlighting the need for a thorough understanding of UAM’s potential and effective assimilation into urban mobility frameworks.

摘要: The incorporation of disruptive innovations into the transportation industry will inevitably cause major upheavals in the transportation sector. However, existing research lacks systematic theories and methodologies to represent the underlying characteristics of future urban transport systems. Furthermore, emerging modes in urban mobility have not been sufficiently studied. The National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC) officially approved the Basic Science Center project titled “Future Urban Transport Management” in 2022. The project members include leading scientists and engineers from Beijing Jiaotong University, Beihang University, and Beijing Transport Institute. Based on a wide range of previous projects by the consortium on urban mobility and sustainable cities, this project will encompass transdisciplinary and interdisciplinary research to explore critical issues affecting future urban traffic management. It aims to develop fundamental theories and methods based on social and technological developments in the near future and explores innovative solutions to implement alongside these emerging developments in urban mobility.

Fire hazard in transportation infrastructure: Review, assessment, and mitigation strategies

摘要: This paper reviews the fire problem in critical transportation infrastructures such as bridges and tunnels. The magnitude of the fire problem is illustrated, and the recent increase in fire problems in bridges and tunnels is highlighted. Recent research undertaken to address fire problems in transportation structures is reviewed, as well as critical factors governing the performance of those structures. Furthermore, key strategies recommended for mitigating fire hazards in bridges and tunnels are presented, and their applicability to practical situations is demonstrated through a practical case study. Furthermore, research needs and emerging trends for enhancing the “state-of-the-art” in this area are discussed.

Direct energy rebound effect for road transportation in China

摘要: The enhancement of energy efficiency stands as the principal avenue for attaining energy conservation and emissions reduction objectives within the realm of road transportation. Nevertheless, it is imperative to acknowledge that these objectives may, in part or in entirety, be offset by the phenomenon known as the energy rebound effect (ERE). To quantify the long-term EREs and short-term EREs specific to China’s road transportation, this study employed panel cointegration and panel error correction models, accounting for asymmetric price effects. The findings reveal the following: The long-term EREs observed in road passenger transportation and road freight transportation range from 13% to 25% and 14% to 48%, respectively; in contrast, the short-term EREs in road passenger transportation and road freight transportation span from 36% to 41% and 3.9% to 32%, respectively. It is noteworthy that the EREs associated with road passenger transportation and road freight transportation represent a partial rebound effect, falling short of reaching the magnitude of a counterproductive backfire effect. This leads to the inference that the upsurge in energy consumption within the road transportation sector cannot be solely attributed to advancements in energy efficiency. Instead, various factors, including income levels, the scale of commodity trade, and industrial structure, exert more substantial facilitating influences. Furthermore, the escalation of fuel prices fails to dampen the demand for energy services, whether in the domain of road passenger transportation or road freight transportation. In light of these conclusions, recommendations are proffered for the formulation of energy efficiency policies pertinent to road transportation.

Enhancing the terrain adaptability of a multirobot cooperative transportation system via novel connectors

摘要: Given limited terrain adaptability, most existing multirobot cooperative transportation systems (MRCTSs) mainly work on flat pavements, restricting their outdoor applications. The connectors’ finite deformation capability and the control strategies’ limitations are primarily responsible for this phenomenon. This study proposes a novel MRCTS based on tracked mobile robots (TMRs) to improve terrain adaptability and expand the application scenarios of MRCTSs. In structure design, we develop a novel 6-degree-of-freedom passive adaptive connector to link multiple TMRs and the transported object (the communal payload). In addition, the connector is set with sensors to measure the position and orientation of the robot with respect to the object for feedback control. In the control strategy, we present a virtual leader–physical follower collaborative paradigm. The leader robot is imaginary to describe the movement of the entire system and manage the follower robots. All the TMRs in the system act as follower robots to transport the object cooperatively. Having divided the whole control structure into the leader robot level and the follower robot level, we convert the motion control of the two kinds of robots to trajectory tracking control problems and propose a novel double closed-loop kinematics control framework. Furthermore, a control law satisfying saturation constraints is derived to ensure transportation stability. An adaptive control algorithm processes the wheelbase uncertainty of the TMR. Finally, we develop a prototype of the TMR-based MRCTS for experiments. In the trajectory tracking experiment, the developed MRCTS with the proposed control scheme can converge to the reference trajectory in the presence of initial tracking errors in a finite time. In the outdoor experiment, the proposed MRCTS consisting of four TMRs can successfully transport a payload weighing 60 kg on an uneven road with the single TMR’s maximum load limited to 15 kg. The experimental results demonstrate the effectiveness of the structural design and control strategies of the TMR-based MRCTS.

城市虚拟交通系统与交通发展决策支持模式研究

摘要:

本土化的城市虚拟交通系统与交通发展决策支持模式,在解决由快速城镇化引发且趋于严重的城市交通问题、克服现阶段智能交通系统存在的瓶颈方面具有重要意义。本研究依托大数据、互联网等信息技术,建立了由基础数据库、分析模型库、软件模块库、备选预案库组成的城市虚拟交通系统,涵盖其理论框架、系统功能、技术体系,据此提出覆盖城市土地开发、交通设施建设、交通运行管控、公共交通运营、交通政策制定等应用场景的交通发展决策支持模式。以重庆市为例,阐述了城市虚拟交通系统构建过程,完成重庆市新型冠状病毒肺炎疫情期间居民出行、车辆通行错峰方案的政府决策论证。结果表明,基于城市虚拟交通系统的交通发展决策支持模式在实际交通方案论证过程中具有及时性和有效性。研究建议,未来我国城市交通规划管理可注重城市虚拟交通系统的建设和运用,及时纳入新型信息技术成果以优化应用效果。

A model for the evaluation of environmental impact indicators for a sustainable maritime transportation

摘要: Maritime shipping is considered the most efficient, low-cost means for transporting large quantities of freight over significant distances. However, this process also causes negative environmental and societal impacts. Therefore, environmental sustainability is a pressing issue for maritime shipping management, given the interest in addressing important issues that affect the safety, security, and air and water quality as part of the efficient movement of freight throughout the coasts and waterways and associated port facilities worldwide. In-depth studies of maritime transportation systems (MTS) can be used to identify key environmental impact indicators within the transportation system. This paper develops a tool for decision making in complex environments; this tool will quantify and rank preferred environmental impact indicators within a MTS. Such a model will help decision-makers to achieve the goals of improved environmental sustainability. The model will also provide environmental policy-makers in the shipping industry with an analytical tool that can evaluate tradeoffs within the system and identify possible alternatives to mitigate detrimental effects on the environment.

我国综合交通工程科技现状及未来发展

摘要:

深入探讨综合交通工程科技发展的需求目标和共性难题,有助于推动我国综合交通的持续进步。本文从道路交通、轨道交通、水路交通、航空交通、城市综合交通5 个维度梳理了我国交通工程科技的发展现状,总结了由交通系统网联化、交通出行共享化、交通管控智慧化、交通运载运行协同化、交通布局立体化表征的我国综合交通工程科技的未来趋势。研究认为,可在综合交通体系化构建、综合交通数字化基础服务平台、综合交通指挥调度中心、综合交通相关服务等方向实施综合交通工程科技攻关,建议构建综合交通新体系、培育交通出行新模式、形成一体化综合交通网、建设多基综合交通枢纽、实施智能网联立体交通重大工程,以此精准驱动我国综合交通的高质量发展。

我国道路交通与能源融合发展战略研究

摘要:

能源与交通的交替进步承载了人类社会的繁衍发展与文明延续。面对资源紧缺、气候变化、环境污染带来的严峻挑战,利用交通资产能源化、交通用能绿色化途径可以有效实现交通领域“碳达峰、碳中和”目标已逐渐成为一种共识。本文系统回顾了道路交通能源融合的发展历史,调研并分析了源于国家能源安全、交通能源结构绿色化转型、交通资产能源化潜力开发,以及交通系统智能化等推动道路交通与清洁能源融合发展的需求与变化趋势。笔者在对我国道路交通风、光自然资源禀赋与用能需求自洽供给评估分析的基础上,给出了我国道路交通与能源融合发展的参考路径,并结合“碳达峰、碳中和”目标,提出了道路交通与能源融合发展的路线图。最后,提出了技术与政策两方面建议:在技术方面,建议强化科技研发、推进产业链发展,助力技术创新与融合;在政策方面,建议完善顶层设计与战略规划、支持探索市场新模式,进一步深化国际合作。

The Construction of a Green Transportation System of China

摘要: Since the 21st century, the transportation industry in China has achieved rapid growth with a significant increase in the transport capacity; however the development has also greatly impacted the energy saving & environmental conservation. This paper takes into account non-commercial vehicles such as private cars in the statistics of energy consumption and pollution of Chinese transportation system. This method extends on previous methods which solely include commercial vehicles in these statistics. Based on more comprehensive quantitative data, it reviews the progress in the energy saving and environmental conservation efforts by the Chinese transportation industry and points out that the rapid increase of energy consumption and pollution emission and the deterioration of traffic congestion are prominent problems in the development of the Chinese transport industry. The main reasons for theses problems include the unbalanced development of different transport modes, the irrational layout of integrated transport hubs, the inadequate law, regulations and standards, and the use of suboptimal technology. Based on these findings, this paper proposes several goals for the construction of a green transportation system in China including the establishment of a transportation management system, the improvement of transportation energy efficiency, the control of environmental pollution and the alleviating of urban traffic congestion. Additionally, it points out that in order to build a green transportation system in China, multiple aspects should be enhanced, i.e., the formulation of traffic planning, the optimization of transport structure, the development of urban public transport, improvement of integrated hubs, administration of energy saving and environmental conservation, development of intelligent transportation systems, technical innovations, etc..

摘要:

根据露天矿山运输调度系统的复杂性与非线性特性,建立了实时运输调度系统模型;运用遗传进化算法中的选择、交叉、变异、插入、迁移算子的寻优迭代计算,成功地解决了在开采工艺、产量、质量等多因素约束条件下的实时运输调度优化问题。并将其用于韶峰水泥原料矿山的生产运输调度系统,既降低了矿山运输成本,又协调了开采工艺、质量、产量之间的关系,取得了较好的效果。同时为矿山企业信息化建设和其他物流企业提供了重要的参考价值。

Research progress on hydrate plugging in multiphase mixed rich-liquid transportation pipelines

摘要: The plugging mechanism of multiphase mixed rich-liquid transportation in submarine pipeline is a prerequisite for maintaining the fluid flow in the pipeline and ensuring safe fluid flow. This paper introduced the common experimental devices used to study multiphase flow, and summarized the plugging progress and mechanism in the liquid-rich system. Besides, it divided the rich-liquid phase system into an oil-based system, a partially dispersed system, and a water-based system according to the different water cuts, and discussed the mechanism of hydrate plugging. Moreover, it summarized the mechanism and the use of anti-agglomerates in different systems. Furthermore, it proposed some suggestions for future research on hydrate plugging. First, in the oil-based system, the effect factors of hydrates are combined with the mechanical properties of hydrate deposit layer, and the hydrate plugging mechanism models at inclined and elbow pipes should be established. Second, the mechanism of oil-water emulsion breaking in partially dispersed system and the reason for the migration of the oil-water interface should be analyzed, and the property of the free water layer on the hydrate plugging process should be quantified. Third, a complete model of the effect of the synergy of liquid bridge force and van der Waals force in the water-based system on the hydrate particle coalescence frequency model is needed, and the coalescence frequency model should be summarized. Next, the dynamic analysis of a multiphase mixed rich-liquid transportation pipeline should be coupled with the process of hydrate coalescence, deposition, and blockage decomposition. Finally, the effects of anti-agglomerates on the morphological evolution of hydrate under different systems and pipeline plugging conditions in different media should be further explored.
